Sarah's hand had already slipped under Alex's shirt, venturing inside.
I used to think Sarah merely sympathized with Alex, doting on him like a little brother. I never imagined they'd be doing this sort of thing right in front of my hospital bed.
Sarah softly collapsed into Alex's arms.
Alex gazed lovingly at the woman in his embrace. "Sarah, whose body do you prefer? Mine or Michael's?"
"Yours, of course. You're so well-built. Unlike Michael, who's always like a stiff board."
As she spoke, Sarah carefully caressed Alex's abs, her eyes brimming with affection.
Alex faced me, a smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
This was all deliberately staged for my benefit.
He pushed Sarah away, feigning alarm. "Michael, you're awake..."
Seeing my pallid complexion, Sarah finally felt a twinge of guilt and asked Alex to leave.
She stroked my face and poured me a glass of water.
"Michael, I just wanted you to apologize to Alex. You have me, the company... But what does Alex have? Nothing but a gravely ill grandfather."
"He's our brother. You should be more accommodating towards him."
Sister?Sarah thought I hadn't noticed their behavior earlier, that I was being kept in the dark.
She turned my leg into this current state just to make Alex smile.
Seeing the person I once wanted to spend my life with turn into this, I felt nothing but pathetic and ridiculous.
Sarah tried to comfort me again, "Once Alex makes it big, I'll restore your leg. We'll go abroad together, and no one will ever bother us again."
There's no greater sorrow than the death of the heart.
When you're completely disillusioned with someone, you don't even bother to fight anymore.
I struggled to sit up, and calmly said, "Sarah, let's get a divorce."
Sarah frowned, "What nonsense are you talking?"
I turned my head away, my mind made up.
She grabbed a cup and smashed it on the floor. Alex burst in immediately at the sound.
Sarah pointed at me and yelled, "Michael, don't forget who gave you everything you have today. I've only crippled one of your legs. Even if I wanted your life, you'd be my ghost even in death!"
"I'll cancel all your upcoming events. You just stay here and recover. When the time is right, I'll come for you."Sarah finished speaking and took Alex's arm, ready to leave. Alex looked back at me and said, "It's still best to tie him up. If he escapes, Sarah will surely be heartbroken."
Sarah ordered someone to tie me to the bed.
"Sarah, let me go! This is imprisonment!" I shouted.
She didn't even turn her head.
In the days that followed, I had to have someone bring a bedpan for me to use the bathroom, like a worthless invalid with no dignity.
Six months later, Sarah appeared in the hospital room again.
This time she had prepared a revealing dance costume for me.
"Michael, today you'll wear this and perform on stage with Alex," she said.
During the half year I was tied up in the hospital room, I wasn't completely ignorant of what was happening outside.
The nurses took pity on me and told me many things.
In the six months I was confined to the bed, Sarah and Alex traveled around for fun every few days.
Alex was average-looking with mediocre dance skills and no ambition. He couldn't make any waves in the entertainment industry.
Recently, someone had been stirring up hope for my comeback.
Sarah's move now was to let Alex ride on my popularity.
"Michael, I promise this is the last time. Once Alex becomes a hit today, I'll take you abroad tomorrow," she said.
