Borrowing Light(8)

Just as he reached the entrance to the forest path, he saw that Lin Yu was also there.

He was wearing a white shirt and light brown slacks, a book in his hand, and a lightweight cotton and linen blanket hanging over his shoulder, as if he had been waiting for a long time.

"Coincidence?"Shen Riqiu raised her eyebrows.

Lin Yu smiled and nodded, "I happen to be planning to go to the lake as well.Together?"

Shen Riqiu didn't refuse.

The two walked side by side along the path, the sunlight pouring through the trees, the broken gold-like light jumping.

At the end of the path was an open lake, its water sparkling with a little wave light in the sunlight, with soft grass growing along the shore and wildflowers dotted with stars.

They found a piece of clean grass, spread out the blanket and put the basket on it.

Shen Riqiu took off her shoes and stepped on the grass with her bare feet, soft, like stepping on a gentle cloud.

Lin Yu opened his book and read quietly; Shen Riqiu took out her sketchbook and began to draw the lakeside scenery.

The wind blew gently, and the lake water lapped against the shore, making soft, dreamlike sounds.

After a while, a little boy stumbled over, a balloon in his hand, accidentally tripped over a stone on the grass, the balloon flew up into the sky.

He pouted and looked about to cry out.

Shen Riqiu hurriedly put down her sketchbook and walked over, squatting down to comfort him.

Lin Yu also closed his book and got up to help, pulling out a small bag of candy from his basket and handing it to the little boy.

The boy's eyes widened, pursed his lips as he took the candy, whispered "thank you", and then jumped up and ran back to his family.

"Do you always bring candy?"Shen Rikuo asked with a smile.

"There are kids who come to the cafe all the time."Lin Yu rubbed the back of his neck, "Get used to it."

They sat back down on the blanket.

Shen Riqiu took a bite of the blueberry muffin, and the sweet flavor bloomed in her mouth.

"Lin Yu."She suddenly called his name.

"Hmm?"He looked at her sideways, the warm afternoon light reflected in his eyes.

"Thank you."She said softly.

"For what?"

"Thank you for making me feel that tenderness really exists in this world."

Lin Yu looked at her for a while before smiling and responding, "No need to thank you, sunflower.

The wind blew and the ground was filled with rustling grass blades.

The surface of the lake was dyed gold by the sunlight, and they sat quietly by the lake as time slowly flowed, like a warm and slow stream, around the softest part of the heart.

After a night rain, the sky of the town finally cleared.

Carrying a painting kit on her back, wearing a white beret, a beige knitted cardigan and a long cotton linen skirt, Shen Rikuo walked along the path to the lake outside the town.

The surface of the lake was blown by the early morning wind, causing tiny ripples, and the shore was planted with a whole patch of short white wildflowers, like a soft blanket.

She set up an easel by the lake, laid out the paper, adjusted the paints, and began to paint quietly. The sunlight sprinkled on the water like a handful of crushed gold, and the wind brought water vapor to her face, gently brushing her scarf and the tips of her hair.

Shen Riqiu was immersed in her own world, concentrating on tracing the light and shadow in front of her.

Until someone squatted down and re-covered her paint box that had just been blown away by the wind.

It was Lin Yu.

He was wearing a light blue linen shirt with the cuffs casually pulled up, and he was carrying a small bamboo basket in his hand.

"I packed breakfast at the café, passed by the lake, and saw you."

Lin Yu said softly, a little smile in his voice, "Do you need help?"

Shen Riqui looked up and saw him standing against the light, his eyebrows gentle, like the light and shadow refracted from the lake.

She nodded her head.

Lin Yu picked up the pens and palettes that she had left to the side one by one and carefully placed them.

The lake wind was a bit strong, and he even used the thin blanket he brought with him to put it on the easel to help block the wind for her.

Neither of them deliberately broke the silence.Lin Yu sat down on the side and took out two paper bags from the basket, handing her one.

"Cream buns, and milk."

Shen Riqiu took it and thanked her softly.

She bit into the bread while continuing to draw.Lin Yu leaned next to her, quietly looking at the lake without disturbing her.

There was a wind that blew the tail of her scarf and swept across the back of Lin Yu's hand.He was slightly stunned and didn't dodge it, but just smiled faintly and invisibly.
