Chapter 18: Little Wizards' Pride is Truly Terrifying

Dylan asked Professor McGonagall many questions in her office, regarding the confusions he had encountered while studying magic.

Professor McGonagall provided answers to his questions, even those beyond Transfiguration.

[Message]: Your Transfiguration proficiency has increased! Current progress: 35%!

Dylan glanced at his panel.

His proficiency had increased by 0.5%, now at 3.5/10, and was about to reach level four.

Dylan had gained considerable insights into how to cast Transfiguration spells on inanimate objects.

Without involving living creatures or Animagus forms, he could easily and realistically use inanimate Transfiguration spells.

Of course, to transform something, he had to understand it first.

Only by thoroughly understanding the principles and structures of an object could he use Transfiguration spells at will.

It was impossible for him to transform something perfectly just by saying it.

Without understanding the object's structure, even if he could transform it, he could only create a "form" that he remembered.

For example, if he turned an apple into an alarm clock, and he didn't understand the alarm clock's structure, he could only create an alarm clock-shaped object with apple pulp inside.

After Dylan left, Professor McGonagall rubbed her stomach.

"That little wizard has so many questions..."

She got up to get some food, but couldn't suppress the smile on her lips.

"However, I have led another student into the hall of Transfiguration."

...

After Dylan left Professor McGonagall's office, he went straight to the Great Hall.

Many young wizards were already sitting down for lunch.

There were less than two hours left before the afternoon classes.

Plenty of time.

As soon as Dylan entered the Great Hall, he saw two people waving at him.

It was Harry and Ron.

Neville, who was too shy to raise his hand, was also looking at him expectantly.

Dylan walked over.

"Wow, Dylan, you're amazing! In Transfiguration class, you earned our house a whole 10 points!" Ron said excitedly.

He then glanced at Hermione, who was eating not far away.

"Unlike some people who brag about how great they are, but only earned 5 points."

Hermione glared at Ron, then looked at Dylan, and continued eating.

"Tch!" Ron raised his head.

Dylan: "..."

He shook his head: "Whether it's 5 points or 10 points, they're all points for our house. It's better than getting no points and almost losing points."

Ron stiffened at his words.

Hermione almost couldn't hold back her laughter.

She glanced at Dylan, who had already sat down.

Harry looked at the silent Ron and then at Dylan, who had started eating.

He quickly smoothed things over: "Dylan, did you go to Professor McGonagall after class to ask questions?"

Ron also looked over.

Dylan nodded: "I had some questions about Transfiguration. I wasn't sure if my judgments were correct, so I went to ask."

Harry exclaimed: "Dylan, you learn so fast."

Ron held back for a moment, but finally couldn't help but say, "And you're also very blunt!"

Dylan smiled helplessly: "I'm just stating the facts. Isn't it a good thing for anyone to earn points for our house?"

"We're a team, there's no need to compete. Scores aren't important; self-awareness and happiness are."

Ron seemed to understand: "How can scores not be important? They determine whether we get the House Cup at the end of the term!"

Dylan shook his head slightly and didn't say more.

He wasn't their dad, and he didn't have to explain why the talismans weren't important, and finding a way to destroy Shendu was.

Ron was still too young to understand many things, which was normal.

He didn't need to lecture them now.

Ron pouted: "It's a pity I can't even make a match move. Neville and Seamus can turn matches into iron rods!"

He gripped his fork unhappily, poking at the vegetables in front of him.

"And that teacher is so fierce!"

Dylan knew Ron was still upset about Professor McGonagall scolding him and Harry in front of the whole class in the morning.

In fact, as an adult with two lifetimes, he didn't think it was a big deal.

But for a young wizard with strong self-esteem and pride, it was hard to let it go.

Ron continued to mutter.

"We didn't mean to be late. Those damn stairs went crazy and sent us to the fourth floor."

"And that weirdo Filch was chasing us like a madman."

"God, you don't know how hard Harry and I tried to get to class on time!"

Hearing this, Dylan thought for a moment, swallowed a piece of well-done beef, and said slowly.

"Hey, Ron, I know you're upset about being scolded by Professor McGonagall, but I have to say, what Professor McGonagall said was entirely for you and Harry's sake."

"What? She's so fierce, she cares about us? I think she just wants to use us to establish her authority! To build her strict teacher image!"

Ron curled his lips: "I bet she's like this to students from other houses too!"

Dylan: "..."

Kids' pride is truly terrifying.

"And most importantly, that awful Malfoy came to laugh at Harry and me after class!"

Dylan blinked.

So that was the main point?

He went straight to Professor McGonagall's office after class, so he didn't know about this.

He patiently asked, "Ron, do you know about Acromantulas?"

Harry, Ron, Neville, Seamus, and Hermione all looked over.

"What are those?" Harry asked.

"A kind of ferocious carnivorous magical creature."

Dylan said, "Acromantulas eat people, and eating people is their instinct."

"That's scary!" Neville exclaimed.

Dylan nodded: "But that's not the scariest part. Do you know what the scariest part is?"

"What?" Harry and Ron asked in unison.

"The scariest part is when you turn into an Acromantula, forget you're a wizard, refuse to turn back into a human, and end up becoming a man-eating monster in the form of an Acromantula."

Dylan's words silenced the little wizards around him.

"Of course, that's just an example."

Ron breathed a sigh of relief, but before he could relax.

"Besides turning into an Acromantula, you could also turn into a slimy Basilisk, an ugly Grindylow, a smelly Boggart..."

Hiss!
