MSOC: Chapter 116

The large ramen shop fell silent. The three inside exchanged glances, captivated by the increasingly fragrant chicken soup.

Their eyes showed an intense curiosity about the source of the aroma.

"Ahem... should we go take a look?" Teuchi coughed, "Not many people will come at this time. Let's pay a visit."

"Yes, we should... right?" The Third Hokage agreed, glancing at Ayame.

With two in favor, the decision was made.

"Hmph, fine. I don't believe he can make anything better than Ichiraku Ramen," Ayame snorted, heading for the door.

The Third Hokage also stood up, remembering Jiraiya's report: Kai had used food to subdue the Three-Tails.

"Hokage-sama, it might be awkward to visit empty-handed..." Teuchi said hesitantly, implying they should bring something as they were essentially crashing a meal.

The Third Hokage understood. Freeloading required a gesture of goodwill.

"I have some freshly made ramen. I usually send some to Hazuki..."

As the Third Hokage disappeared around the corner, Teuchi, unable to contain himself, grabbed the ramen and followed.

"Kai... should I buy some noodles? If we wait, the child..." Hazuki swallowed, realizing her slip. But the aroma of the chicken soup was too tempting.

The greatest torment for a hungry person is seeing and smelling delicious food but being unable to eat it.

Uchiha Izumi and Itachi, initially doubtful, were captivated by the aroma of the Five-Fingered Hairy Peach Chicken Soup. It was the opposite of the rich miso soup.

They were like country bumpkins in the city, barely controlling their drool.

"Izumi, I'm here to play..." Ayame's voice came from outside. She entered without permission.

She peered into the pot.

"Ayame, do you smell the delicious chicken soup?" Uchiha Izumi said smugly.

Ayame often gave Izumi leftover ingredients from the shop. But now, she pinched her nose. "What's this smell? It's awful... far worse than our miso soup..."

Seeing Ayame's feigned disgust, Kai rolled his eyes.

"Has your old man brought the ramen yet?"

Ramen?

Hazuki and the others were surprised. They hadn't expected this.

"What ramen? My dad wouldn't bring any..." Ayame glared. She thought it was enough that Teuchi had seen the soup. Bringing ramen would lower Ichiraku's status.

"Ayame, what are you saying?" Teuchi rushed in, tapping Ayame's head.

"Kai, I'm sorry. She's just being childish. She's not usually like this."

"This is ramen I made, with some beef slices. I hope you don't mind."

Teuchi placed the ramen and beef slices down, eagerly looking at the soup pot behind Kai.

Hazuki and the others were stunned.

"He's really bringing it to us..."

"Haha, as a chef, I'm also a foodie," Kai chuckled, taking the ramen.

"Third Hokage, since you're here, come in. I don't eat people."

"Haha, your methods are impressive. I didn't expect your cooking skills to be so alluring. No wonder Jiraiya and Minato speak so highly of you," the Third Hokage said, entering.

Teuchi was impatient. "Kai, let me cook the ramen. My skills are good."

He reached for the ramen.

"No need. My noodles aren't for boiling," Kai shook his head.

He placed the noodles in a steamer, added water, and covered it.

"Steamed noodles?" Teuchi was startled. He'd never seen this before.

Kai didn't answer, taking out a bowl of ice water. As the noodles softened, he plunged them into the ice water, removing excess moisture, and placed them in bowls.

He poured the prepared, defatted Five-Fingered Hairy Peach chicken broth over the noodles. The fragrant aroma filled the shop.

The Third Hokage and Teuchi took a sip of the broth. It was delicious. A warm, herbal fragrance spread through their stomachs.

"Excellent broth!"

They eagerly ate the noodles. The firm, dry noodles had a chewy texture, unlike the usual soft noodles. The fragrant broth was a perfect counterpoint to the rich miso broth. Their appetites were piqued.

"Excellent noodles..."

"Kai... this is beyond my understanding..." Teuchi exclaimed.

"This is medicinal cuisine," Kai said calmly. He was confident in his culinary skills, even against Ichiraku Ramen.
