Chapter 2: Temptation and Shadows
Amara knew she should have walked away that night. Instead, she found herself standing outside the restaurant, waiting for a car, only to feel the warmth of Jide's presence behind her.
"You don't seem like the type who lets strangers buy her drinks," he murmured. His voice was low, teasing, but there was something else there too—something deeper, darker.
She turned to face him, her arms crossed. "And you don't seem like the type who takes no for an answer."
His smile was slow, deliberate. "That depends. Are you saying no?"
Amara hesitated. She should have. She should have turned and walked away before she got tangled in whatever spell this man was weaving. But instead, she felt her lips part slightly, her body betraying the logical part of her mind.

A shiver ran through her. His words weren't a demand, but an invitation. An invitation to something she wasn't sure she could handle.
"I have my own ride," she managed, though her voice was breathless.
His gaze didn't waver. "Then let me watch you leave. Just to make sure you're safe."
Something about the way he said it made her stomach tighten. There was an intensity in his eyes, a promise of something more—something dangerous.
As the black sedan she'd ordered pulled up, she hesitated. "Goodnight, Jide."
"For now," he said, his lips curving into a knowing smile.
She stepped into the car, feeling the weight of his gaze on her as they drove away. But even as the city lights blurred past, she couldn't shake the feeling that her life had just changed in ways she couldn't yet understand.
What was it about Jide that unsettled her so much? The way he looked at her like he already owned her? Or was it the strange pull she felt toward him—like a moth drawn to a flame, even though it knew the fire could burn?
One thing was clear: this wa
