The Whirlwind of Trials

Juan couldn't sleep all night. Lying on a narrow straw bed, he tried to concentrate, but his thoughts wouldn't stop whirling in his head. He didn't know which was worse—his encounter with the woman in the woods, or the old man's words, which only added more uncertainty to his life. He felt trapped, trapped between what he knew and what he was about to discover. Fear gripped him more and more as he recalled the old man's words about the inevitability of choice and the dark forces he had to avoid.

And yet, despite all the worries, there was a spark of determination in his chest. He couldn't afford to stop. Although this path was filled with dangers, he knew that if he turned back, he would never know what this world was hiding.

Morning came too fast. Juan got out of bed, feeling no relief from the sleep he needed. He walked through the village, where the morning rays of the sun softly illuminated the houses and paths, creating a sense of tranquility that he could not share. Unlike most residents, who were unaware of the dangers lurking outside their small community, Huang already knew that his life was about to change. He felt it like a premonition.

He went back to the old oak tree, where the old man had left him alone the night before, going to the village. The weather was clear, but the air still retained traces of the coolness of the night. Huang tried to collect his thoughts, knowing that his path today would depend on how he could handle future challenges. He wasn't ready, but he had no choice.

"Did you come here to come back to reality?" A familiar voice sounded from behind. Huang abruptly turned around and saw an old man standing nearby, watching him with a faint smile on his lips.

"I do not know what to look for in this world,— Juan replied, once again feeling the darkness of his thoughts envelop his soul.

The old man took a step towards him, looking at him with his penetrating gaze.

"You have to understand one thing," he said calmly. "There are only two things in this world: strength and weakness. If you want to survive, you'll have to become strong. And to achieve this, you must be prepared for everything that awaits you along the way. You have to give up your weakness, your humanity. If you continue to doubt, you will get lost, like all those who stood in your way.

Huang knew that the old man wasn't lying. Strength was the only survival tool in this world. But was that what he wanted to become? He couldn't answer this question to himself, but he understood that, in the end, not everything depends on his will. Some things just need to be accepted as inevitable.

"I'm ready to go,— Juan said, summoning all his resolve in those words. — I will be strong. And I will go to the end, even if I have to face what I fear.

The old man nodded, watching him with satisfaction.

"You can be ready, but it's going to be a long road, and it can break you if you don't keep the strength it requires in you. Come on, I'll show you what awaits you next.

Juan stepped forward, not feeling relieved, but at least aware that his journey was finally about to begin. The fog of the past was slowly dissipating, and only darkness and the unknown loomed ahead. There was a fiery determination burning in his heart, and perhaps that was the only thing he needed to survive in this world.

The old man led him through familiar paths, but today they seemed different. Juan could feel the world around him changing with every step. He knew that there was a test ahead of him that would test not only his strength, but also his spirit.

Juan followed the old man along the winding path leading to the forest, where the bright day met with the shadow of tall trees. Each step became heavier, and his thoughts were filled with doubts. What awaits him in this unknown world? What kind of trials does he have to go through, and how can he remain human in the midst of all this cruel reality?

The old man moved forward silently, his steps fast and confident, while Huang felt heavy in his legs and confusion in his heart. The world that had seemed so familiar and safe was now becoming more and more alien. He thought about his family, about the life he had left behind. Everything seemed so ridiculous that even his body resisted every move, as if it understood that in this world he would only be a pawn, unable to take a step aside.

— Do you think you can choose your fate? The old man suddenly turned to him. — Do you really believe that the power in this world is given to you by right? No. It's just a case. We are not the masters of our destinies. We are their prisoners. But you can choose how they break you.

Juan listened to his words in silence, trying to figure out their meaning. He felt a chill in his soul, but with every step it became a little easier. The strange emptiness receded, leaving room for a new sensation— he suddenly felt his inner forces begin to awaken, as if pent-up energy was being released.

— How could you become like this? Juan asked. His voice was uncertain, like someone who has not yet decided to fully understand himself. "You've been through so much that you've become... soulless."

The old man turned and chuckled briefly.

"You may think so, but it won't help you. Life makes us what we need to survive. We give up our humanity for the opportunity to move on. And you have to understand that you can't achieve anything without it. You need to stop being afraid of the force and the dark path that you have to walk. You have to accept your essence.

Juan nodded silently, not knowing what to say. These words were too heavy for him, too confusing. But he understood that the old man wasn't lying. No matter how much he tried to escape from it, this reality he found himself in left no room for illusions.

And so, a few minutes later, they reached the place where the forest opened up, giving way to an open clearing. In the center of the clearing stood a stone arch covered with moss and dark mold. This place was strange and foreign, as if it had been forgotten for a long time. The old man stopped at its base, turning to Juan.

"This place is not just a test," he said with a shadow in his voice. — Your fate is being decided here. What you choose now will determine which path you find yourself on. Many come here with hope, but few return.

Huang felt his heart quicken its rhythm. He stood in front of the archway, not knowing what would happen next. But he couldn't afford to back down. He knew that he had to go through this ordeal, otherwise he would not be able to move on.

The old man took a step back, leaving Huang alone with the place.

"Are you ready?" "What is it?" he asked, and there was a willingness in his voice to watch what would happen.

Juan looked at the dark arch once more, but the answer had already been given. He couldn't go back. With an effort, he stepped forward, feeling the ground getting softer under his feet, and the air around him seemed to be filled with a strange tension. Determination burned in his chest. If this world was cruel, then it had to become stronger. And now was the moment when he could make his first move.

As soon as he crossed the threshold of the arch, the world around him was engulfed in darkness. Everything was gone. The light became dim and the air became viscous, as if time and space had begun to warp.

Juan stopped, feeling his heart beating faster. His whole body tensed. He knew that the trials had begun.

Juan stood in complete silence, broken only by the faint rustle of leaves, as if someone invisible was walking on its surface. He could feel the cold darkness enveloping his body, making it impossible to see anything beyond his line of sight. It was as if he had found himself in another world, where the rules that apply in his native village had no force.

He took a cautious step forward, and immediately the ground beneath his feet changed — it became soft as quicksand, but it did not bend under the weight of his body. Juan tried to concentrate, but his inner anxiety wouldn't let go. He felt as if something was bubbling in his body, as if his powers were awakening, but they were beyond his control, beyond his control.

With every passing second, the world around him became more and more strange and unclear. Juan's gaze darted from side to side, he didn't know what to do. His heart was beating faster and faster, and fear began to overwhelm his consciousness. But at some point, he remembered the old man's words. "You have to accept your essence."*

Juan exhaled slowly, with an effort. He understood that fear and panic would not lead him to success. He had to control himself, despite the darkness and the unknown threat that lurked in this place.

He concentrated and felt the energy in his body, which had previously been scattered and uncontrollable, begin to gather in one place — in his chest. He began to assemble it, as if he were trying to recreate an inner harmony that would allow him to experience what lay ahead.

A moment later, he felt his powers begin to take shape. He didn't know what kind of powers they were, but it was more than just physical strength. It was as if some old, forgotten source was awakening inside him. He reached out to this source, feeling his body filled with a strange energy.

Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of him. Tall, with swaying shadows, as if the darkness itself had taken the form of a man. Juan pressed himself into the ground, pulling away from the creature that stood in front of him. The silhouette was blurred, and even the air around him seemed unnatural, as if the world itself was becoming an extension of him.

The figure took a step forward, and the darkness around them began to recede. It became clearer, and Juan saw that it was a woman, although her face was hidden by a hood. She came closer, and his breathing became rapid.

"You came here because you're looking for power. Her voice was quiet, but it sounded like thunder in his head. — But remember that the forces you seek will always require sacrifices.

Juan listened to her in silence, not knowing how to react. He still couldn't figure out what was going on, and who this figure was. But he couldn't afford to refuse. He had come here for something more.

"Are you ready?" "What is it?" she asked, and there was a strange tone in her voice. Huang felt his heart tighten.

—I'm ready,— he said, not sure what the word meant, but knowing he had no choice.

She smiled, but it was a cold, empty smile. And before Huang could understand anything, everything around him was engulfed in absolute darkness. His body was in a state of weightlessness again, and he felt as if his soul was disintegrating, losing all shape. But it was at that moment that he realized he hadn't come here to get answers. He had come to seek strength, and what would happen to him next depended on how ready he was to go to the end.

The sun was high when Juan decided to rediscover the power hidden in his body. He was standing in the middle of a field, his eyes closed, and his thoughts were focused on one thing — on the inner feeling of what was hidden deep in his soul. He knew that his path would not be easy, but when he started working with energy, his body and mind were filled with unimaginable heaviness, as if the world was trying to hold him in place.

But this time it was different. Huang's inner world was full of anxiety, and he could feel something happening, something awakening in his body. He managed to concentrate all his thoughts on allowing his inner energy to circulate freely. He could feel strange, frightening changes starting to occur in his body.

Suddenly, a faintly perceptible vibration appeared in his path — as if everything around him was becoming part of a single, whole structure. He knew that this was the moment of truth—the moment when either everything would be lost, or he would find the very key to himself that he had been searching for for so long.

And so, at that moment, when he believed that his strength was on the verge of exhaustion, he felt it — an invisible energy that seized him more and more. It wasn't just an internal flow, but something else, something much deeper. The energy he felt was like a conduit between this world and something higher than himself. His mind, which was full of doubts and fear yesterday, began to perceive what was happening as something normal.

Huang opened his eyes, and a scene appeared in front of him, as if the world was burning up in his hands. But this picture was not disturbing. On the contrary, he felt it—it wasn't just energy, it was the beginning of an awakening.

But the moment was brief. And so, in front of him, as if in a fog, a silhouette appeared. This silhouette was familiar, though unusual. He felt the chill that accompanied the appearance of this figure, like a shadow piercing his soul.

"Do you really want to continue?" — said the voice. He was soft, but there was an unrelenting power in him.

Juan stopped. He was about to say that he didn't know how to respond. He felt his heart racing.

"Every step will be worth something," the voice continued. "You need to understand that the path of cultivation will not be easy. You will be forced to choose. Are you ready to make sacrifices?"

The shadows began to thicken, and the voice grew closer and closer. He couldn't leave, and Juan knew he couldn't take a step back. He had come all this way to be here, and there was no point in retreating. Despite all the risks, despite the darkness that surrounded him, he knew he had to move forward.

"I'm ready," he said softly, but with determination. It was his choice.

After Huang made his choice, his surrounding reality changed. He felt as if the energy that had previously been circling in his body was rapidly concentrated in one place, as if invisible threads were intertwining and forming a single cohesive structure. His gaze focused on the thin line that crossed the space in front of him. It wasn't a physical line, but a soul-level line separating his past and future.

He felt her pulling at him, pulling him away from his former, weak existence, in which he was unremarkable. It wasn't just a test of strength, it was a test of the spirit that required more than just physical fortitude. He had to change, become something more than he was.

The shadows became even denser, and the presence he felt became even more tangible now. He tried to concentrate, but as soon as his thoughts began to drift away, his body felt heavy again, as if nature itself was trying to resist him. His body seemed to be losing touch with itself, and at that moment, Juan realized that he wasn't just meditating or concentrating. He became a part of what surrounded him. He began to perceive every sound, every movement in the world as a response, a reflection of himself.

"You won't be able to hide from this path," that familiar voice rang out again, faintly, but there was a heaviness in it. "You can't avoid the victims."

Juan swallowed, trying to overcome the sensations that were binding his body, and answered with restraint, but decisively.:

"I'm ready. I'm going all the way."

He couldn't afford to back down. Everything he had gone through, everything he had to go through in this world, could not end halfway. He knew that he was facing great challenges, that his every move would be subject to constant scrutiny, that every step would cost him too much. But now, at this moment, Juan felt real freedom for the first time in his life. Freedom of choice, freedom of your path.

The dark figure in front of him gradually began to dissolve, and a new scene appeared in front of Huang's eyes. It wasn't just reality, it was a space filled with endless possibilities and those who had gone through these trials before him. He didn't know how long this process would last, or what else he would have to go through, but he knew one thing—he was getting stronger every moment.

His feet hit the ground again. He was ready to move on.

"You will be ready," the voice said, as if confirming his determination, "But remember, the path you have chosen does not tolerate mistakes. You have to be prepared for the cruelest truth."

Huang sighed, but now his gaze was as steady as ever. He felt the power that had just begun to awaken in his body begin to build up again, as something deep and hidden in his heart began to work in his favor. It was his moment. The moment when he began to realize that strength is not only physical strength. Strength is the decision to go no matter what.

And step by step, he began to move on.
