I opened my eyes to a dull white ceiling. The air smelled strange — clean, but lifeless. Too quiet. No whisper of wind. No dripping blood. No scent of old stone or fire.
This wasn't my castle.
This wasn't my realm.
I sat up slowly, confused. My head throbbed. My limbs felt… heavy. My heart, cold as ever, beat just once — slow and strong. But something was wrong.
This room was small. Too clean. A glowing rectangle in the ceiling gave off pale light. A metal table sat in the corner. A strange bed under me. Blank walls. No symbols, no weapons, no guards.
Where was I?
I tried to reach for the darkness — the power that always lived inside me, like fire in my blood. I waited for that warm pull, that weight in my fingers.
Nothing.
Only a flicker. A spark. Like I'd been drained.
I stood, slowly, my feet touching the cold tiled floor. My claws didn't form. My fangs didn't sharpen. Even my shadow magic — gone.
No… no, this wasn't right.
I moved to the glass window and pulled back the curtains. I blinked, confused by the blinding light and the strange view.
Tall buildings. Streets. People walking. Machines rolling by — cars, I think. I'd read about them in vampire scrolls. The sky above was cloudless. Blue. The world was… alive. But not the way I knew.
"This is… the Mortal World," I whispered, eyes narrowing. "How did I end up here?"
A cold feeling settled in my chest. I clenched my fists.
"I was summoned."
But it couldn't have been on purpose. No one would dare summon a Vampire Prince unless they wanted to die.
So someone must've made a mistake. A very big one.
My name is Kelvin, first-born of the Nightblood line. A pureblood vampire prince. I was raised in shadows, trained in battle since I could walk. My enemies feared my name. I could tear through armies with my power — control blood, move through darkness, feed on fear.
But now?
I could barely feel a drop of it. My power… was fading.
I sat on the edge of the bed, silent. My heart wasn't racing. It never did. I was calm — always. But inside, I was thinking fast.
Someone summoned me — from my realm, to this one. But why? Who?
And more importantly — how do I go back?
Suddenly, I heard footsteps. The door clicked open. I turned my head sharply.
A middle-aged woman in strange clothes walked in. She gasped softly when she saw me sitting up.
"Oh! You're awake," she said. Her voice was kind. Too kind.
She smiled like I was some lost child.
"W-Where am I?" I asked, trying not to sound too sharp.
"You're in a hospital, dear," she said gently. "You were found unconscious near the school grounds. No ID, nothing. Do you remember your name?"
"…Kelvin," I said.
She nodded. "Well, Kelvin, you're lucky someone found you. You'll be staying at a foster home nearby until someone can help figure out where you came from. You'll also be enrolled in school starting next week."
School?
I almost laughed.
From commanding legions to sitting in a human classroom? What a joke.
Still… if I was stuck here, even for a while, I had to blend in. I needed information, a plan. And for now, that meant playing along.
I gave a small nod.
"Alright," I said quietly.
The woman smiled again. "You've got the most unique eyes. Red, like a ruby. Very rare."
I turned my face away. "I know."
She chuckled. "Well, try to rest. You've had a rough fall. I'll bring you some food soon."
When she left, I stood and walked back to the window.
A boy like me… dropped into a peaceful world. Where no one screamed. Where no one feared the dark. Where people smiled like they had nothing to lose.
This place… it wouldn't feed me.
My powers relied on negative emotions — fear, sadness, anger. That was how vampires of my bloodline charged their core. But here… the air was light. Too light.
If I wanted to survive, I had to adapt.
Find the darkness in people. Make them feel. Make them break.
Only then would my powers return.
And until then… I'd be patient.
Because even if this world didn't know it yet…
A vampire prince walks among them now.
