Joining the Special Forces

The introduction was brief as they had yet to eat so all the generals just nodded as the remaining five students sat down in their respective tables as they started eating. The means were the most sumptuous meals that Alex had ever had as he filled his stomach to the brim. He was somewhat of a foodie and fortunately he was given a boon of not gaining any weight even if he ate too much.

He didn't pay any attention to the others or the chit chat as he just enjoyed himself. He knew that there was a game going on here where they would be told to choose a branch to join in the military. This was a huge decision for both the students and generals as accepting the right student in their army could essentially change the whole power structure of the future.

Alex wasn't interested in any of that as he wished for a normal life and a normal tenure of four years after which he would be a free man. A free hunter that would earn and fulfill his desires with his own money and carve out the future that he wanted.

So he didn't pay any special attention to any of the present general and enjoyed his meal. Soon the meal was over as the principal smiled and stood up. " My dear students, it is the army's decision as to which branch you would go to but as a respect for you being a hunter, please write down your choice of division on the paper under your dishes. Later you will be notified by the generals as to which division you would go to. "

As soon as principal was finished speaking, Alex and others picked up their pens and wrote down their choices. It was standard procedure and tradition of sort. As Alex was writing his choice of division which was 14th Armored Division because he loves the machines that armored division utilized and the fact that he had zero defensive capabilities, His hand was grabbed by a sturdy hand from behind.

His hand couldn't move as he looked behind him. " Hi, My name is Commander Yarrik. Care to give me a moment of your time? " The general smiled as Alex looked at him. He was wearing a maroon beret and had a golden sword symbol on his chest. There were no extra decoration or anything as Alex looked at other generals. They were shocked and even the principal stood up.

Although Alex could see the dissatisfied looks on the faces of the other generals, he was surprised that none of them said anything and quietly continued eating. Only Mister song looked up at him for a moment and then he stood up and left along with the four toppers.

Alex stood up as he looked at the Commander. He was a strong man in his fifties and looked as if he was chiseled from stone. He stood ramrod straight and looked directly in Alex's eyes. " I want you to use your skill on me... " He said as he folded his hands and stood there smiling.

Alex was shocked as he looked at the general. " but sir, you might get hurt. " Alex regretted saying that as the smiled was wiped out of Yarrik's face and he heard a chuckle from one of the generals. Alex decided to not go further into the details and do as he was told as he knew that first rule of the army was to follow orders without questions.

He didn't even speak anything this time as he activated the skill. The outline of general Yarrik shone with light as general Yarrik's whole body was caught in fire. The blazing flames were so bright that they were about to reach the ceiling of the banquet Hall.

Sylvia stood up as she stretched her hand to put out the fire but the burning commander Yarrik lifted his hand has he stopped her. Through the flames, Alex could see the commander's sin that was normal before had changed into a dark iron shade. The flames only burned the clothes and after that, the flames were unable to harm the Commander at all. Commander Yarrik smiled as he looked at Alex.

"Congratulations, you are now part of the Special Forces Division. You can meet me after an hour in the main ground, don't be late. "

Just like that Alex was too stunned to speak. What did he mean by special forces? They were the people who would do the most dangerous of the missions in the army. If he joined them, it was a sure way to heaven. He wouldn't even know what killed him and now unfortunately for him, he was part of that division.

Leaving behind stunned Alex, Yarrik left as the other students finished writing their choices.

Alex soon reached his room as he saw Ron and professor Ainsley waiting for him there.

" My dear boy! You did it! You know that i would get a bonus this month now that two of my students are awakened! Tonight's dinner is on me! We will go to the Slimca market and eat whatever you want! "

Alex sighed as he looked at the professor.

" Hey man! What's with that face like a monkey's a*s! Cheer up! You are a hunter now! Why so sad? " Ron said as he smiled.

" Man!, I was selected in special forces! Do you even know what they deal with!? They eat titans in breakfast and dance with demons and Mythical beasts! The mental commander of theirs chose me to be in special forces! Now you tell me if I should celebrate or not huh!? "

Ron's eyes widen as he cursed out lout "OH Dude! You are so... Screwed! Oh man, I heard they would make you do all kinds of training and I heard that there is even a hell week! Man, I think it's your retribution for trying to be my mother all the time! Huh! " Alex was so angry that he almost instinctively wanted use immolate on Ron but professor Ainsley calmed him down.

Alex finally let out a helpless smile as Ron was an expert at lifting his mood but in a bad way. " Well, you would have to cancel the celebration as I have to leave in an hour with Commander Yarrik. "

Ron and Ainsley were shocked as they nodded. " It is like that with the special forces, I don't know much about them but I know that they are one of the strongest branches of the army, I mean they can go head to head with hunter association so I would say you scored a good unit to go to. "

Ainsley said as he and Ron helped Alex pack his things. Alex lifted up his bag and looked at both of them for the last time. " We won't meet for the long time now so see you both. " He hugged Ainsley and then Ron.

Ron hugged Alex as he whispered in Alex's ear " Man, whatever you do, don't let anyone through your backdoor man, that gate is mine... " Alex felt like beating up Ron right there but he soon let the hug go as he had a good laugh and left for the school ground.

Ron and Ainsley followed him as a chopper was waiting for him with Commander Yarrik in it. Alex soon boarded the chopper as he waved goodbye to Ron, Ainsley and Principal along with other Awakened who were there to see him off.
