Mr. Voice Likes to Give Gifts

Laura's POV—

"But you decide whether to say or leave, I want to tell you something. Those who are going to say will find themselves worthy in their eyes. Your life will have a purpose. You can do anything. Every wish of yours can be fulfilled by you. Money, fame, and women. All could be yours. But remember... to have all these, you might have to pay a heavy price. If you are ready to pay the price, then go ahead."

A 'price?' Will people be afraid of this ominous word? I guess not. Most of the people will definitely be tempted by its words. But I know its purpose. It is seducing them. We have a choice? No, we don't. It wants us to stay. Those who will leave this train... will either be captured again or, be killed. I am leaning towards the latter one.

"We don't care! I just want to leave this train. My daughter must be worried!"

"My husband is blind. He needs me. Sorry, your words are tempting but... we are not going to stay here."

Its words really worked. Half of the 'dissatisfied' people want to stay here. Although, it failed to appease everyone.

It said, "Very well. You can leave."

Immediately, the number reduced to thirty. Those who have left the train... are going to die. Will I stop them? No, I won't. It would be in my best interest to keep quiet. As for they live or die, I don't care.

Suddenly, someone lifted me. It was Gabriel, who was carrying me in a princess style.

"Are you alright?" asked Gabriel.

I nodded and rested my head on his chest.

"Thank you," I whispered.

Gabriel chuckled darkly. "No need to thank me. Are you like this with everyone?"

Hah! How many times will I have to hear these same words?

I shook my head and whispered, "I am sorry."

"Don't say anything. You are a pretty little mysterious thing, aren't you? For someone you just met, you are hugging him proactively. But that's not what which surprised me the most. Your antics, I don't dislike them. Why do I like hugging you? Hmmm?" whispered Gabriel. His hot breath sprayed in my ears."

"Put me down, please."

Gabriel smirked and put me down. I gave him a glare, and walked towards the end of the carriage. I could feel Kristen boring holes in my skull with her glare. Fuck her!

For a moment, my heart raced like a cheetah. Gabriel didn't suspect me, did he? No, he can't. No one can ever doubt me. Their mental capability is not up to the mark.

"Good. You all have decided the right thing. Congratulations! You all have passed the first phase of your selection."

As its words finished, the doors immediately shut closed. It continued, "Now, players... look through the window and see the fates of the one, who refused my offer."

Everyone flocked around the windows, two on each side of the carriage.

"They... are all dead," said a man, his voice was full of terror.

"What the fuck is eating them?! Are they even humans?!"

"Hey! Let me out! Let me out! I don't want to stay in this train any longer!"

With a grim tone, Louie said, "Don't act impulsively. Those things are still outside. If you go out, they will kill you."

"Then, does that mean we are going to stay in the train?! What is wrong with you people?! This voice... we don't know what it will do with us. It might even kill us!"

"We are already dead. Put it in your through skull if you still think there is a life waiting for you," sneered a woman. Her eyes were frosty. She was wearing a policewoman's uniform. Although, her green hair was making her look like a criminal instead.

She continued, "I was killed by a stray bullet. My death was premature. If this voice says it can give us a new start, I am willing to do anything. Am I right, Mr. Voice?"

It... or, 'Mr. Voice' replied, "You are correct. Player, I am impressed by your attitude. A reward has been issued for you as well. It seems this batch has some highly talented individuals."

Like Kristen, this woman was hit with similar looks of jealousy, fear, and admiration. In that mix, there were some other indescribable looks thrown as well.

'Batch?' Oh, it seems there are more of us.

Gabriel asked, "What do we have to then?"

"A reward for you has been issued."

I lowered my head and focused on my nails. 'Mr. Voice' really likes to give rewards unnecessarily. Or, does it have any other motive hidden in these 'gifts?'
