Chapter 30- Beneath His Cold Mask

Jaden adjusted the cuffs of his tailored suit as he stood by the door of the penthouse, his expression unreadable. Anna stood nearby, tense and wary, her eyes darting to him as though bracing for the next move in their twisted game.

He finally turned toward her, his dark eyes gleaming with calculated intent. “Let’s go,” he said, his voice cool but commanding.

Before she could take a step, Jaden closed the distance between them and, without warning, swept her up into his arms. Anna gasped, clutching his shoulders for balance.

“What are you doing?” she hissed, her voice low enough that only he could hear.

“Playing the part,” he murmured back, his lips curling into a smug smile. “Smile, Anna. Everyone’s watching.”

Sure enough, as they exited the penthouse, the staff and a few lingering onlookers outside turned their attention to the couple. Jaden carried Anna with ease, his expression a picture of devotion. Murmurs of admiration rippled through the small crowd.
