Chapter 56- The Unwanted Guest

The ride back was silent until Anna's stomach betrayed her, letting out a loud growl that shattered the tension in the car. Her cheeks turned crimson, and she quickly pressed a hand to her stomach as though she could silence the offending sound.

Jaden glanced her way, his lips twitching with amusement, but he didn’t comment. Instead, he reached for the car intercom. “Pull over at the next restaurant,” he instructed the driver, his tone calm and matter-of-fact.

Anna blinked at him in surprise. “You don’t have to—”

He cut her off with a casual wave of his hand. “You’re hungry. It’s not negotiable.”

She leaned back, crossing her arms over her chest in defiance but said nothing further. He always had to be in control, didn’t he? Yet a small part of her—one she didn’t want to acknowledge—felt a sliver of gratitude.
