**At the Pharmacy**
I picked up several pregnancy test kits and rushed back home, my heart pounding in my chest. Alex had already gone, thankfully. I sighed in relief and rushed into the bathroom.
I opened the test kits and read the instructions, my hands trembling. The sense of dread settled in my chest as I peed on the five tests. I couldn't look away; my eyes were glued to the results.
"Wait for 30 seconds," I muttered under my breath. "Please, let them all be negative. Please, please…"
As I stared at the test kits, my mind raced, imagining what the results could mean. If they weren't negative, I would be in so much trouble. The weight of uncertainty pressed down on me, and I felt the walls of my reality closing in.
