Chapter 7: Dojo Buster Part 2

"I don't get why you're so upset. We want this guy to find you right? Wasn't that the plan? Or is there someone else that you're worrying about finding you?" Brian asked suspiciously.

"What? It's…. nothing, never mind. Let's just get this over with already." Peter said reluctantly and they made their way to the local karate school that they had set up for their operation.

When they arrived they were greeted by the sensei of the dojo who seemed elated over Peter being there to teach his class for the day.

"It's an honor to meet you sir." He said as he bowed.

Peter waived off the sensei's courtesy. "Do you have a Gi I could borrow? And a belt too?" He asked nonchalantly.

"Yes, of course sir! Right away!" He scurried off to get a uniform for Peter, who went to change as soon as he received it.

"Um, excuse me." Samantha said to the sensei as Peter was going back to change. "You seem to know Peter, is he famous or something?"

"Yeah, why are you being so formal with him?" Brian asked him.

"You mean you brought him here and you don't know?" The sensei asked surprised. "He's the prodigy that earned a black belt from the legendary master Hoji in Okinawa. They say it took him less than a year to earn a black belt. In fact, he was the last person to earn a black belt from Master Hoji before he passed. Apparently he's equally accomplished in many other martial arts as well. Though I don't know if he's what you'd consider famous, he is very well known throughout most of Eastern Asia, especially in the Karate community."

As the sensei finished his explanation, Peter returned wearing a uniform that fit tightly around his heavily muscled body. "Eh, it's a little tight." He complained.

"I'm sorry, it was the largest size we had. You see we mostly do children's classes. We don't have many adult sizes unfortunately."

"That's fine, I can fix it myself." Peter said as he tore the sleeves off with his bare hands. "There that's better."

As the class started, all the students which apparently included students from all over the city gathered around to watch Peter's demonstrations.

"Now watch closely, I'm not that good at teaching, so the only way I know is to just show you how it's supposed to be done." He said. He then proceeded to perform kata. His technique was so flawless that even Brian and Samantha who had no knowledge of Karate could tell how impressive it was.

Peter continued to lead the class for about an hour. After he was done Brian commented about how their suspect never showed up.

"Well I really expected something to happen. Oh well, I guess it's back to square one. Alright guys let's wrap this up and move out." He said.

"Wait, I don't get many opportunities to practice in an actual dojo these days. Do you mind if I stay a little longer?" Peter asked.

"Oh, yeah of course stay as long as you like. Just lock up when you leave." The sensei replied.

Peter stayed and performed kata for hours on end without breaks or rest. As he practiced, a man entered the dojo.

"So I finally found you. I've been searching for you for a long time." The man said. The man was tall and muscular, he had long black hair that rolled down to his shoulders along with a long mustache and beard.

"Eh? Have we met before?" Peter asked, he didn't stop performing kata even as the man talked to him.

"Don't pretend you don't remember me! I'm the great Lu Hun! I've slaughtered over a hundred master martial artists! The only man I've ever lost to is you!"

"Oh so that explains it. I only remember the guys that give me a good fight. If I don't remember you, it must mean you're just some loser I've beaten like a drum before. Anyway don't bother me right now I'm busy."

"Don't think that you have a choice in this! I'm taking my revenge on you right now!" Lu Hun said as he lunged towards Peter. Peter easily blocked his punch with down block. As many times that Lu Hun attacked, they were all effortlessly blocked and parried by Peter.

The fight was dragging on for some time, which was unusual for Peter as he usually ended every fight with just one strike.

Samantha and Brian were watching this all unfold from the surveillance van outside. They had only pretended to leave to draw Lu Hun out. They correctly assumed that he would be more likely to attack when he thought Peter was alone.

"That's got to be the guy! We need to get in there and get him right now!" Samantha said.

"No, we need to be sure this is our guy. We should wait a bit." Brian replied.

"But what if Peter gets hurt? It doesn't look like he's having an easy time of it this time."

"Don't worry, he can take care of himself." Brian said dismissively. "Hey. Wait. Do you notice something strange about the way he's fighting?"

"Yeah like I said he seems to be on the defensive."

"No, no. Look closer. He's just performing the same moves he's been practicing all day! He hasn't stopped his training even while this guy is trying to fight him!" Brian shouted in shock of this ridiculous development.

Just as Brian surmised, Peter was simply performing kata, and even so he was blocking Lu Hun's attack with ease. The final move in the sequence he was training was a right straight punch. When he threw the punch it smashed Lu Hun's face in left him sprawled out on the floor. Peter then bowed and went back to the locker room to shower and change, completely disinterested in the man he just defeated.

As he was coming back out the FBI team had already taken Lu Hun into custody. "That was incredible!" Samantha said excitedly. "That guy was really dangerous and you made beating him look so easy!"

"Huh? What do you mean? I was just practicing kata."

It wasn't an act. His confrontation with Lu Hun was just legitimately so insignificant to him that he had determined in the moment that continuing to practice kata would be more beneficial than having a serious match with him.

After Lu Hun was processed, Samantha reviewed the information on him and found that this wasn't the first killing spree Lu Hun had gone on. He had apparently done something similar in China before he was captured by authorities and sent to prison. Given the context clues, Samantha put together that Peter was the one who beat him and put him in prison the first time. Though of course he himself had no recollection of it.

Meanwhile, somewhere in China:

"Ma'am, I believe we have located him." A man said in Chinese.

"I see, get a plane ready immediately." A woman replied.
