The morning light struggled through the narrow window, spilling into the cramped basement room.
Dylan Hawkwood stared at the envelope on his desk, his expression blank.
A moment ago, as usual, he had pushed open the window, eagerly hoping the fresh air would sweep away the heaviness of the night.
But to his surprise, an owl shot in through the window with a whoosh of wind, flapping its wings wildly and nearly knocking over the candelabra on the desk. It finally landed crookedly on the old wooden table.
A letter was firmly tied to its leg, this was the letter Dylan was staring at now.
At first, he didn't pay much attention.
But just as he was about to shoo the owl away, his eyes inadvertently caught sight of the unique emblem on the envelope—
A shield crest featuring a majestic lion, a soaring eagle, a sturdy badger, and a cunning snake, all surrounding the letter "H."
On the top and bottom of the emblem, two elegant ribbons were embroidered with the words "Hogwarts" and "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus."
In that instant, his face froze, as if struck by a bolt of lightning from the depths of his memory.
"Hogwarts??"
The familiar yet unfamiliar elements crashed into his mind like a tidal wave, breaking down the dam of his memories.
Hermione and her two flaws?
"I'm in the Harry Potter world??"
Dylan had always believed he had traveled to historical England.
But he had never received any special powers.
His parents were just ordinary office workers in a company, and his family was poor.
Over the past ten years, Dylan had long given up on any hopes of receiving special abilities.
His life's ultimate goal had become simple, using his foresight of future technology trends to buy some stocks and live a worry-free life, enjoying food and clothing.
But this letter ruthlessly shattered his dreams!
This world was far more complicated than he had imagined. Even if he accumulated wealth, it could easily vanish!
After all, those damn wizards only needed to wave their wands and utter a few spells.
With just one spell, they could control his mind.
And all he could do was pray they didn't plan to kill him.
If he encountered an evil wizard, a simple flick of "Avada Kedavra" could end his life in an instant!
With that thought, Dylan's lazy posture immediately stiffened, the sense of danger suddenly overwhelming him.
He took the envelope from the owl and watched it fly out the window.
"However, at least now I have the chance to learn magic."
Since he had received an acceptance letter from Hogwarts, it meant he could study magic and possibly protect himself.
At the very least, before investing in stocks, he should learn some defensive spells!
Dylan made a silent resolution to devote himself to studying magic at Hogwarts.
His priority would be to master various protective spells and level up his defenses first!
Once he had acquired enough power, he could return to the Muggle world and live out his days carefree. How delightful!
Dylan stared at the envelope for a long time.
Finally, he reached out, his fingertips trembling slightly as he opened it, pulling out the parchment inside.

As Dylan finished reading the last line, a strange interface suddenly appeared before his eyes.
"Huh?"
Dylan froze.
Could this be... the late-coming special power?
Excited, Dylan quickly began to explore the interface.
"Achievement System?"
The system interface was divided into four sections, Sorting Hat, Magic Scroll, Magic Wand, and Spellbook.
The Sorting Hat icon represented his personal information.
Name: Dylan Hawkwood
Magic: None
Items: Freshman Starter Pack
Clicking on it, he saw that, aside from his name, the spell section was completely empty, after all, he was still a novice.
The items section contained a small pack, but he had no idea what it contained.
The Magic Scroll icon was linked to quests and achievements.
Opening it, there were no quests listed, but an achievement was already unlocked:
Achievement: First Encounter
Description: You've received the blessing of magic! Experience this world full of magic and Muggles!
Unlock Requirement: First contact with magic.
Achievement Reward: Hogwarts Freshman Starter Pack.
Clicking on the Magic Wand icon revealed another page.
Name: Dylan Hawkwood
Learnable Spells: None
Dylan glanced through it and realized this tool would help him refine his spells.
As for the Spellbook icon, it remained locked and mysterious with no clues as to its purpose.
"This really is my special power!" Dylan rubbed his hands together, eagerly eyeing the Starter Pack in his inventory.
He opened it.
A new system prompt popped up.
Freshman Starter Pack: Upon opening, you will receive a magical creature and three full-level spells!
"What? Three full-level spells??"
Dylan's eyes widened in excitement.
A starter pack with full-level spells as a bonus?
Unbelievable!
Thinking about it was enough to get him excited!
"The chance of getting a spell like 'Protego' is probably low, but still..."
With the full-level curses as a foundation, Dylan wasn't even that eager about the magical creature.
Whatever it was, he didn't need to buy it.
With a heart full of anticipation, Dylan opened the pack.
In an instant, four golden lights shot up, soaring toward the sky like dazzling stars descending to earth!
Dylan's heartbeat quickened!
The three golden stars changed shapes continuously, then suddenly shattered into black mist, swirling like black holes in the sky!
The next moment, three magical pieces of information rushed into his mind.
Dylan saw countless figures, not just humans but also strange creatures.
He stood in front of them, wand in hand.
The first.
"Ahh—!"
The people in the front row fell to the ground, writhing in pain, their screams and wails echoing.
The second.
"Thud."
The group in the middle was hit by a green light, instantly stiffening and collapsing, silent and lifeless.
The third.
The people at the back had empty, hollow eyes, like puppets.
Message: Congratulations, you have mastered the full-level curse—Crucio (The Cruciatus Curse)!
Message: Congratulations, you have mastered the full-level curse—Avada Kedavra (The Killing Curse)!
Message: Congratulations, you have mastered the full-level curse—Imperio (The Imperius Curse)!
Numerous murmurs echoed in Dylan's ears.
The murmurs of the incantations intertwined and overlapped, deeply imprinting into the very soul.
At this moment, Dylan even felt as if he didn't need a wand, these three curses were at his fingertips.
However, looking at the three fully leveled curses in his spellbook, Dylan suddenly felt his vision blur.
"Did I… did I see that right?"
He closed his eyes, unwilling to open them.
But, there was no need to even glance at the spellbook.
In his mind, the three Unforgivable Curses, those invincible spells, began to vividly demonstrate how to torment others.
"I'm seriously done for. System, what exactly do you want from me? Are you trying to get me arrested on my first day at school and thrown in Azkaban for life?!"
