"Many wizards have died in the pursuit of new magic, young wizards. You don't want to be one of those who precedes their family at such a young age, do you?"
Ollivander's gaze was intense, his eyes fixed on Dylan.
Dylan blinked, a thought flickering in his mind.
To be honest, if he really decided to research new curses, he didn't think anything bad would happen.
This confidence stemmed from his deep understanding of the three Unforgivable Curses.
As incredibly dangerous as these curses were, they also encompassed a great deal. Since he had mastered all of them, how could there possibly be any curse more dangerous than these?
Perhaps there were, but they were undoubtedly rare.
"I understand, sir. Thank you for the warning," Dylan nodded.
Although he felt confident that researching new spells wouldn't be as dangerous as Ollivander suggested, he also had no intention of continuing without first gaining a full understanding of the magic system.
As Ollivander spoke, Dylan had caught a particular phrase—"magic has its own will."
Uncontrolled magic, Dylan realized, would inevitably lead to chaos.
If he didn't have enough power to suppress and control it…
Too much exploration and research could result in disastrous outcomes.
"These things don't even fear the Unforgivable Curses, so I'd better be cautious."
Once Dylan reassured Ollivander, the wandmaker continued searching for a suitable wand for him.
"You really are... well, let me think... quite bold, yes, you're a very bold little wizard," Ollivander said as he pulled three wand boxes from the shelves, then retreated deeper into the shop to bring out seven more. He placed them all neatly on the table.
"So, I think I might have an idea of what kind of wand would suit you."
"Let's try these three first," Ollivander pointed to the ones on the far right.
Dylan picked up each wand one by one and tried them out.
Meanwhile, Ollivander remarked, "Do you know why I have you keep trying different wands, little wizard?"
"It's probably so I can find the one that suits me best, the one that will help stabilize the magic inside me, right?"
Dylan flicked a wand, and a faint explosion sound followed.
"Ah, well said!"
Ollivander smiled, pleased, and gently closed the boxes containing the three wands on the far right.
"Try these ones next."
"You're absolutely right. The right wand is extremely important, but its true purpose is to help guide and limit your unruly magic."
As Dylan tried a couple more wands, Ollivander appeared dissatisfied.
"Please, continue, sir."
"Young wizards often make the mistake of releasing all their magic uncontrollably when they don't yet know their spells."
Ollivander handed Dylan another wand, his voice carrying a note of concern, his eyes momentarily glancing up at the ceiling.
"These chaotic, uncontrolled bursts of magic, if not guided in the right direction, like through the proper spells, will end up causing some very dangerous consequences... this one's not right for you."
Ollivander passed over a fourth wand.
"The point is, a wand can help limit a young wizard's unchecked magic until they learn to control it properly."
"I see," Dylan nodded, waving the wand only to trigger another series of explosions.
He couldn't help but think: why did this keep happening? Was he becoming a "blast wizard"?
"It's alright, there are plenty more wands," Ollivander chuckled, handing over another wand.
As soon as Dylan took it, he felt something stir within him.
He could feel the magic inside him flowing more freely than before, almost effortlessly. It rushed into the wand without resistance.
The wand, now absorbing the magic, unleashed a surge of dark, abyssal black light from its tip. The black light circled around Dylan twice before fading away.
It startled him. For a moment, he thought he had accidentally cast one of the Unforgivable Curses.
But the black light soon dissipated and didn't last long.
Ollivander, observing this, raised an eyebrow and flashed a smile. "Ha! Thirteen and a quarter inches, yew wood, with a Nightshade tail feather... It looks like death and strength will follow you, young wizard."
"My guess was correct. You really are the kind of wizard who is incredibly talented but easily led astray onto the wrong path."
Dylan stared blankly at Ollivander.
Seriously? Is this guy really calling me out like that?
He almost rolled his eyes but managed to restrain himself.
"Thanks to that blasted Unforgivable Curse! How could I be an extremist?"
All he wanted after crossing into this world was to buy some stocks and live a peaceful life!
"The Nightshade tail feathers are hard to come by these days, but these are all from my younger years, including the ones here," Ollivander continued.
He handed Dylan another wand.
"Back then, I was surrounded by all sorts of strange rumors. That legendary wand gave me the inspiration to create these. But after all these years, they still haven't found their rightful owners."
Ollivander sighed slightly.
Dylan blinked, his mind racing. Legendary wand?
Old wand?
A thought flashed in his eyes as he asked casually, "Nightshade? Is it some kind of magical creature?"
"Could it be that these wands all have the same Nightshade tail feather cores? My goodness, did you—"
"Oh, hahaha! Not at all."
Ollivander laughed, shaking his head.
"In fact, when I was younger, I wanted to replicate the legendary wand's power, so each time I caught a Nightshade, I'd take its strongest tail feather after killing it and use it to create the cores of these wands."
Ollivander added, "Of course, such random killing is no longer allowed. Don't you dare follow my example, young wizard."
Dylan knew that magical creatures were often seen by most wizards as mere tools for gathering magical materials. However, after a lot of hunting and over-exploitation, the wizarding world had begun to push for sustainability.
Wizards like Hagrid, who genuinely cared for magical creatures, were few and far between.
Dylan couldn't help but feel overwhelmed, realizing that all the wands he had tried were imitations based on Ollivander's original wand.
At least nothing exploded in his hands.
And these wands weren't made from the same Nightshade tail feather either.
Otherwise, he'd have to seriously think about how to buy them all.
