REWOVEN HEART

Chapter seventeen: The spark Rekindled

Years passed. Nina moved on with her life. She focused on her career, honing her skills and carving out a future that was hers. She never forgot Damien, though. The love they shared had been a part of her, and no matter how much time passed, there was always the lingering what-if. But she was determined not to let herself go back to that place. She wouldn't allow herself to be that girl who chased after a love that was never meant to be.

And Damien, He had thrown himself in his work. The Blackwood family had never been pleased with his decision to cut ties with them in pursuit of his own ambition, but he didn't care. He become the CEO of a successful company, one he had built from the ground up with his vision. But despite his success, there was always something missing. He never quite felt complete. Nina was always in the back of his mind, and he knew no matter how many business deals he closed or how much wealth he accumulated, he would never find peace he sought without her.

It was in the midst of a corporate expansion that their worlds collided once more.

Nina walked into the building, her first day on the job at a new company. She had been offered an incredible opportunity here, and though she was excited, their was a knot in her stomach as she entered the high-rise office. Little did she know that the man at the top of this company was none other than Damien Blackwood.

She didn't recognize him at first. The CEO's office was on the top floor, and she had no idea who he was. She walked into the elevator, engrossed in her thoughts about her new role, her mind focused on work.

But as fate would have it, the elevator doors opened, and in walked in a man in a perfectly tailored suit. His presence was magnetic, his posture confident, but Nina didn't look up from her phone. She stepped aside, giving him room as he silent entered.

It wasn't until a few minutes later when the elevator stopped at their floor that their eyes met for the first time in years. It was a fleeting moment, a split second that felt-the unmistakable spark that had always been there, that connection they had never quite severed.

Nina's heart skipped a beat. But before she could process what had just happened, Damien was already gone, striding down the hallway without a second glance. She shook her head, convinced that it was just a coincidence. She couldn't possibly have seen him again, could she?

As the days passed, Nina tried to put out of her mind. But it was difficult, because Damien wasn't just anyone. He was the CEO, and Nina would be working with him. Eventually, they were scheduled to meet at a corporate meeting, and that was when everything changed.
