Daniel didn't answer right away. He fell silent, lost in thought.
Legally, the custody of Tiana still belonged to her parents.
They didn't even have any real relation to the girl. He was pretty sure the only reason she was even here was because August had interfered.
But things might not go that smoothly in the official court hearing scheduled for two weeks from now.
"Tiana, you're seventeen now, right? You'll be legally independent next year. Having a custody court for someone your age is just stupid," Daniel sighed.
Tiana nodded. She knew very well how ridiculous such a court case was for someone her age. But the law was the law—unchangeable.
"The only real option is for you to speak in court about the abuse you've gone through. If you do that, there's nothing they can do," Daniel said.
