The sky above Kaizen cracked.
Not physically—but spiritually.
A rift in the system itself.
Ranking stones across every academy flickered, went dark, or shattered outright. Students screamed as their ranks disappeared mid-duel, mid-class, mid-breath.
No one was dying.
But something far worse was happening:
They were being unranked.
Jin—Aedryn—stood in the center of the dying battlefield.
Around him, fragments of the First Chain War twisted into stormclouds and flame. Spirits long thought extinct circled overhead, unsure if they were ready to bow… or attack.
Noctis hovered close. "They know your name now. All of them."
Jin's voice was low. "I didn't ask for a throne."
"But it remembers you," Noctis said. "And so does the system."
The ground glowed beneath their feet—sigils spiraling outward, forming a throne of light and iron.
Then the voice came.
For the first time in history…
The Spirit System spoke.
"JIN RYO. AE-DRYN. KING OF THE SEVEN."
"YOUR EXISTENCE IS A CONTRADICTION."
"SURRENDER YOUR NAME."
"OR SACRIFICE THIS WORLD."
Jin felt a weight settle on his chest—not fear. Not pressure.
A choice.
One the old kings had refused to make.
Noctis narrowed his eyes. "This is the final test. Not of strength… but of self."
The system continued:
"SURRENDER YOUR NAME, AND ALL WILL BE RESTORED."
"RANK WILL RETURN."
"PEACE WILL STAND."
"BUT YOU WILL BE ERASED."
Back in Kaizen, factions were forming fast.
—The Spirit Order demanded Jin's immediate execution.
—The Crown's Guard called him the True Sovereign and rallied their blades.
—And at the edge of the empire, cults of the Unranked began burning their sigils, chanting one name: Aedryn.
In the Grand Assembly, Arin stood with Kael and Yuri.
"They're going to kill him," she said.
Kael shook his head. "They're going to fail."
Inside the crumbling battlefield, Jin didn't flinch.
"I've been erased before," he said to the system. "You sealed me once."
"But I came back stronger."
The Spirit System pulsed.
"THEN YOU CHOOSE CHAOS."
Jin clenched his fists.
"No. I choose truth."
And with a single word—
He refused the system's offer.
A scream tore through the fabric of spirit law.
The Seventh Chain cracked.
Then—
Shattered.
Jin collapsed to his knees, gasping.
The battlefield exploded outward, and a new realm began forming in its place. One not based on rank or class or ceremony.
But on choice.
On bond.
On truth.
And from within that new space, something awoke.
Not a spirit.
Not a weapon.
A child.
Eyes glowing with every color. Laughing.
Calling Jin a name only he remembered.
"Father."
