HYPERION

The centrion was a rather awe inspiring creature,standing at five meters in height with it's deer like lower body and furry, human like upper body.Meter long antlers with a hundred branches,four powerful clawed arms to match it's legs.A distorted human like face with no eyes or nose and a large mouth filled with three rows of stake shaped teeth.At it's arrival,it stared down at us like a predator eyeing it's prey.From beside me,I could see Ida take of her blouse to reveal a camisole,pitch black as her leather pants."Wouldn't want my beautiful shirt getting torn in this bout, will I?",she said when she saw me staring at her."Ready,try to keep up",she said,not waiting for my reply before charging at the centrion and landing a flame powered punch square on the centrion's cheek.It staggered back from the force before regaining balance and striking at her with one of the vine like protrusions it could extend from it's back.She dodged the attack that was followed by many more swift attacks with nimble and flexible movements.Witnessing it's failure,the centrion charged at her and swung it's powerful arms at her at incredible speed, gouging out some trees as Ida dodged again.Due to the sheer force in it's strike,Ida's evasion led the chimera to lose it's footing.Seeing the opening,i sprinted and tried blasting it with a beam of light at point blank range,but it had somehow evaded.it seemed to be even more flexible than Ida.She charged at the centrion again,this time accompanied with blasts of fire from all directions.her strike hit home,but the centrion was no pushover.it had weathered the attack with considerable damage, but not enough to put it down.It let out a deafening yelp strong enough to chase all avia creatures from the vicinity and even kill some.it extended several protrusions from it's back to try and catch or kill Ida,but she evaded and leapt to the sky using continuous blasts of fire beneath her feet to stay aloft.I fired several light beams that penetrated different areas of the centrion's body.It's grunts became quieter and it began to fear it's fate as the damage it took became more lethal.With it's strength reduced, Ida projected herself using her flames by before using her fire cloaked hand.ti seamlessly cut through the head of the giant chimera.Now,are you convinced I'm strong enough or do you want me to hunt one of the disasters,she said sarcastically as she landed on the ground, holding the dead chimera by it's antlers.

After defeating the third class chimera,we were able to sell it's corpse to the townsmen and take the reward Thank you for your service,the aged man behind the desk told us as we were leaving."Perhaps you could help us with one more mission","no thank you,I replied hastily, we have to leave,and I'm sure one of the huntsmen will come by soon,I said hoping he didn't catch my lie.After we finally got home Ida jumped onto the bed to take a nap."Wanna join me", she asked expectantly,but I just stared at her before going to lie in one of the other rooms.Three hours passed and I went into Ida's room."Wake up",I said as I tapped her.she rose with a grumpy face.it's the middle of the night,why are you waking me.she asked in a nearly silent voice.I picked her from the bed and into my arms.''The sun hasn't even completely set yet,stop overreacting".I dropped her on the couch,where after an intense session of eye rubbing,she asked;"what!"."We need to plan our journey tomorrow",i said matter of factly."Huh,we are leaving tomorrow,I thought we would have at least a week before we left.After a moment of lingering silence,she shrug,"i guess it's you after all.So,which one of the eight cities are we going to,she asked.Serbik, obviously,i replied.It is the city with the highest number of huntsman applicants and the furthest from Terra media,it has the lowest probability of us getting caught."We are just a bunch of underage mages,not some fugitives,do we have to go to the furthest city from here just to evade the government",she asked with an exhausted look on her face. I am just being cautious,I replied .Well, you're the boss, now can I go back to sleep,she asked feigning niceness.I sighed,sure,but we leave for Medes at the tenth hour.

The next day,we left Toa and headed to a port,where we paid for a carriage to take us to Medes.It didn't seem to bother Ida that we would be leaving this place and not coming back for at least three years.In the carriage,Ida lay on my lap despite my insistence that she didn't, Rion,she said in a sleepy tone,is there a possibility we would die if we go on this adventure of your's?."I told you, I have no intention of dying anytime soon.Yes it will be dangerous,but I wouldn't want to go if I didn't think we could handle it".She heaved a sigh before closing her eyes.

 The journey back to Medes took eight hours,and we arrived in the evening.Out of nowhere,my mother sprinted at us and came and gave Ida a hug.i had described Ida to her some years back, but I didn't expect her to remember or to react like this.Even Ida was surprised."Come child,let me take those bags inside", my mother said as she took the bags and hurried into the house.When we got into the house,I opted for sleep, while Ida decided to stay with my mother and entertain her with stories, stories I probably wouldn't want my mother to hear,but i didn't care enough to try and stop them.

We spent days just living as if we were some average family, doing chores, hunting, cooking, eating and talking.My mother seemed elated, and I wanted her to be.Because I had no intention of keeping to the visiting quota she had set for me Especially not now that I was heading to one of the eight mainlands.So i at least wanted her to be happy now that i was here.
