Danso woke up from his deep slumber. Tears started falling from his eyes like a waterfall. He never knew that Vegiatous II had such a tragic story, and he empathised with someone he had met for the first time only a few minutes ago. Even though it was by luck and a mere hunch that he should try utilising the tomb, and he was not meant to, Danso was still happy that he did, since he managed to put him at rest.
An explosion was heard in a nearby corridor. Danso quickly grabbed the crown and both of his swords and started sprinting towards the area where he heard the sound. Ever since he wore the crown, it seemed as if all his senses had heightened to supernatural heights. With his senses catching up to his physical body and skills, Danso knew that he would be able to give the Arch-Angel a decent fight before losing. Yet, Danso did not want to win the fight. Rather, he wanted to stall the Arch-Angel using the Soul Slime and evacuate his friends, then he would fight the Arch-Angel by himself as Red Samurai to reduce the casualties in the fight. Danso had the Red Samurai Suit in his bag that Vegiatous II summoned in the Soul Realm, therefore, it would not have been a bad idea.
Danso reached a cliff, and underneath him, he saw Tensei and Emily fighting the Arch-Angel. He grinned as he viewed his friends and colleagues fighting the Arch-Angel.
"Am I that late?" asked Danso.
"What's that on your head?" asked Tensei.
"You're right on time, Danso," replied Emily.
"The crown on my head is a little surprise! All Soul Slimes, I am your Ruler now, heed my words and attack the Arch-Angel," said Danso.
Emily and Tensei opened their eyes in broad shock. "How could Danso suddenly command the Soul Slimes?" they thought. Yet, here he was doing the impossible. As Danso completed his sentence, multiple soul slimes from the cubes started to spawn. A few slimes even wore armor and wielded swords. Many of them started to surround the Arch-Angel, attacking it with their swords and soul energy. Danso jumped down to the battlefield and helped Emily and Tensei recover their energy.
"Here I am," said Danso, grinning and waiting for their reactions to get even more funny and shocking.
Danso unsheathed both of his swords and gave his holy steel sword to Emily.
"This one should be safer and easier to use," said Danso, holding the sword out in his right hand.
Emily grabbed the sword quickly and started lunging at the Arch-Angel. She used her 1st stage sorcery to enhance the sword and started attacking. On the other hand, Tensei was clawing through the Arch-Angel's flesh, making it scream. Danso also started swinging his sword and gave it multiple cuts. While he attacked, the ruby on the sword's helm continued to glow. Danso stopped attacking and retreated a few meters away from the battlefield to analyze. He did not have to worry about Tensei or Emily since they had recovered, and the slimes would support them. Danso swung the sword once into the empty air. Nothing happened. He did it again. Nothing happened. This time he struck the Arch-Angel in the stomach and the ruby gl in a crimson red. Far brighter, darker, and redder than it was in the beginning. Danso could not flow soul energy throughout the sword since it was not made of Holy Steel. It was probably made of an indestructible metal from the olden, golden days of sorcery.
Danso swung the sword, yet this time he held the ruby in the center of the helm and accidentally crushed it. The ruby broke, and all the red substance went towards the sword, lighting it up. Danso ran towards it and sliced the Arch-Angel in half, creating a massive explosion. The Arch-Angel fell, and its halo on top started evaporating before its caress fell to the ground with a thud.
Danso commanded all the soul slimes to leave and bring their soul cubes to him, and return to them. All the soul slimes quickly brought their respective cubes and returned into them. The slime cubes were beating like a heartbeat.
"What are you doing, bird brains?" asked Tensei.
"I can use these people in battles now, do you know how useful it would be?" replied Danso.
"Yes, it would be useful, but how did you get that blade and that crown, and how are all the slimes listening to you and leaving their human hosts like that?" asked Emily suspiciously.
Danso did not want to tell a lie or the truth. So he told some of the truth.
"I found this crown and sword in that tomb. I thought the tomb might have something, so I opened it and looted," said Danso.
Judging by the reactions on Emily and Tensei's faces, Danso knew that they believed him and that he would tell the full truth when it was necessary, since it was not useful as of now. Danso stared at his new sword. The ruby in the center of the helm grew back like a plant in the soil. Emily returned Danso's Holy Steel Sword to him, but Danso refused to take it.
"You can keep it, I saw how well you fought with a sword, it might be useful," said Danso.
"I can't take it, it's not mine," said Emily.
Danso thought it was unorthodox to wield and fight using two blades at once, and Emily very quickly caught on to his lies.
"You're just giving me the sword since you have a fancy new one, right?" asked Emily.
"Oh no, no, I genuinely thought that.."
"Shut up, don't lie, I'll keep your sword," said Emily.
Tensei picked up Haruki and carried him towards the exit of the subway station. Emily was also following Tensei and was healing herself, but they both saw Danso standing there, staring at the dead body of the Arch-Angel. They both stopped and looked back.
"Danso, what are you doing? Come quickly," said Tensei.
"You guys go on without me," replied Danso.
Danso waved his hand and went in the opposite direction f the way Tensei and Emily were walking. Danso walked incircles around the dead body of the Arch-Angel.
"If Soul Slimes could control hosts, does that mean…," thought Danso.
He had a plan. A simple one at that. The plan was that he would use one of his Soul Slimes as a parasite and the dead body of the Arch-Angel as a host. The dilemma was was the Ar body would still appear and work if Haruki interfered in a way. Well, there was one way to figure it out. Danso checked the soul slime cubes in his pocket. The cubes became tiny to fit inside. According to Vegiatous II, there were four main ranks in a Soul Slime. The hierarchy was in descending order, with Rank 4 being the weakest and Rank 1 being the strongest.
Danso summoned all the slimes that he currently had. He knew that the Soul Slimes had spread out across the land due to the fall of Emerald City at some point in history, so he knew there was an opportunity to grow his 'army'. The amount of slime he had was 134. A lot for the beginning.
"If this is how many slimes there are in a subway station, imagine how many there would be in a ruin of the Emerald City," thought Danso.
All the Soul Slimes were jumbled up, and Danso was in front of them all.
"All Soul Slimes, heed my words, arrange yourselves in your Ranks," said Danso.
Immediately, all the slimes started ordering themselves on a basis of ranks. Danso could easily find differences be Rank 4 and Rank 1 and could find minor differences between Rank 3 and Rank 2. Rank 4 were normal slimes, such as the ones they fought mainly in the subway station. There were ten Rank 3 slimes, and they were more bulky in size. There were three Rank 2 slimes, and they looked like knights with the slime helmets and armor. Then there was one Rank 1 slime. It was tall, as tall as Danso, and he could feel the soul energy radiating from the Rank 1 slime, and it seemed as if it was a lieutenant or general of the army.
"Oh, Rank 1 slime, what is your name?" asked Danso.
"My liege, my name is Karkous," replied Karkous the Rank 1 slime.
"Karkous, your new host is right in front of you," said Danso, pointing towards the dead body of the Arch-Angel.
"I am very grateful to you, sir," thanked Karkous.
"The pleasure is mine," replied Danso.
Karkous walked towards the Arch-Angel and started to make it its host. After they merged, the Arch-Angel's eyes glowed a bright green. Danso knew that if something ha to the body due to Haruki, it wo be a massive blow to him losing a Rank 1 slime, but he di care right now. Only one thought was on his mind.
"I am the new King," said Danso.
