Chapter 49 Building Law Enforcement

A few days after the grand celebrations, life in Dragonsden City settled into a more peaceful rhythm. Tatsuo, ever mindful of his responsibilities, found himself spending more time in his office, attending to the affairs of the county.

One afternoon, while strolling through the city, Tatsuo encountered Rota Uno, his face beaming with pride as he cradled a newborn in his arms. It was Doran, Rota's son, a tiny bundle of joy with a surprisingly strong grip.

Tatsuo smiled, his heart warming at the sight. "Rota," he said, his voice filled with affection, "he's beautiful. Congratulations."

Rota's chest swelled with pride. "Thank you, Your Highness," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "He's… he's perfect."

Tatsuo leaned closer, gently touching Doran's tiny hand. "He has your strength," he observed. "He'll be a great knight someday, just like his father."

Rota chuckled, his eyes filled with love. "I hope so, Your Highness," he said. "I hope he grows up to be a man of honor and courage."

Tatsuo spent some time with Rota, talking about Doran, about family, and about the future. It was a moment of respite from the demands of his position, a reminder of the importance of personal connections and the simple joys of life.

The next day, Tatsuo was in his office, engaged in a meeting with his advisors and the Clash Commanders. They were discussing a matter of great importance: the establishment of a unified law enforcement department for Dragonsden County.

"While our county is relatively safe," Tatsuo began, his voice thoughtful, "we still need to unify our law enforcement efforts. A county-wide department will ensure greater efficiency and coordination, providing a stronger sense of security for all our citizens."

His advisors nodded in agreement. "It's a wise decision, Your Highness," Hui Cheng said. "It will streamline our operations and enhance our ability to respond to any potential threats."

The Clash Commanders offered their suggestions on how to structure the new department. They proposed a system that divided law enforcement into four main branches:

City/Town Watch: Responsible for maintaining order within the cities and towns.

County Constabulary: Responsible for patrolling the county's rural areas and enforcing county-wide laws.

Jailor: Responsible for the management and security of the county's jails.

Escorts: Responsible for protecting important individuals and transporting valuable goods.

They also discussed the ranking system for each branch, proposing a clear hierarchy that would allow for career advancement and ensure accountability.

Tatsuo listened attentively, his mind absorbing the details of their proposal. He was pleased with the thoroughness of their planning and the clear structure they had outlined.

"This is excellent," Tatsuo said, his voice filled with approval. "You have clearly put a great deal of thought into this. Now, we must consider who will lead this new department."

His advisors and the Clash Commanders discussed potential candidates, their opinions varying on who would be the best fit.

"I believe Kelt would be an excellent choice for Chief of the Law Enforcement," Valerius Blackrose suggested. "His experience as Commander of Greywall Law Enforcement makes him well-suited for the role."

Tatsuo nodded thoughtfully. "Kelt is a capable leader," he said. "I have no doubt he could handle the responsibility."

They continued their discussion, considering various candidates for the Chief of each branch. Tatsuo knew that the success of the new department would depend heavily on the quality of its leadership.

"I will carefully consider all the candidates," Tatsuo said, his voice firm. "And I will choose those who I believe will best serve the people of Dragonsden County."

He also thought that some of his Original Guards will be perfect for the Chief of Branches and he trusts them.

The meeting in Tatsuo's office continued, the air thick with strategic planning and decisive suggestions. The topic at hand: the selection of capable leaders for the newly formed law enforcement branches.

"We need individuals who are not only skilled but also trustworthy," Tatsuo emphasized, his gaze sweeping across his advisors and Clash Commanders. "These positions require individuals of unwavering integrity."

Hui Cheng, ever the voice of reason, nodded in agreement. "Indeed, Your Highness," he said. "The trust of the citizens is paramount."

The discussion turned to specific candidates, their qualifications and suitability for each branch carefully considered.

"For Chief Watchmen," Valerius Blackrose suggested, "I propose Chief Major Stunny. His experience as a former Prince Guard, coupled with his keen sense of observation, makes him an ideal candidate."

Tatsuo nodded, recalling Stunny's unwavering loyalty and sharp intellect. "Stunny is a good choice," he agreed. "He has proven his dedication time and again."

"For Director of the Escort Branch," Rota Uno offered, "I recommend Chief Major Amick. His strategic mind and combat prowess would ensure the safety of our valuable assets and individuals."

"Amick is a skilled warrior," Tatsuo concurred. "His experience in protecting me during my early days speaks volumes of his capabilities."

"For Chief Warden," Ragnar Sternguard proposed, "Chief Major Jalzub would be well-suited. His stern demeanor and unwavering adherence to rules would ensure the security of our jails."

"Jalzub is a man of discipline," Tatsuo acknowledged. "He would bring order and stability to the warden's office."

"And for Chief Constable," Anya suggested, "I believe Mayor Faelar Stonehand of Riverbend Town would be a strong choice. His imposing presence and years of service in the Riverbend Garrison would command respect and ensure the enforcement of county-wide laws."

Tatsuo considered this suggestion carefully. "Mayor Stonehand is a formidable individual," he said. "His experience and reputation would be invaluable in this role."

"As for the Deputy Chiefs," Tatsuo continued, "I believe it would be best to leave the selection to Kelt and the Branch Chiefs. They are best positioned to assess the needs of their respective branches and choose individuals who complement their leadership."

"Excellent plan your highness." Hui Cheng said.

"Tomorrow," Tatsuo declared, "we will hold an official ceremony to announce the appointments. We will also knight these individuals, recognizing their dedication and service to Dragonsden County."

The meeting concluded, the air filled with a sense of accomplishment. Tatsuo was pleased with the progress they had made, confident that the new law enforcement department would bring greater security and stability to his domain. He looked forward to the knighting ceremony, an opportunity to honor those who had served him faithfully.
