Chapter 94: A Vicious Beast in Human Skin

Mu Qingyun let Die Wu rest inside the house and asked Xiong Ruoyou to take care of their guest before she turned and headed out to hunt for food.

"Tch, honestly, how ugly," Bai Feifei sneered, unable to keep her sharp tongue in check. She gave Die Wu a condescending once-over before speaking.

Die Wu was stunned. She raised her head and stared at Bai Feifei in disbelief. Was she really being insulted? They had never even spoken before—this was their first meeting. Was this woman mentally unstable?

"You're the ugly one. Your whole family's ugly. If you don't know how to speak like a decent person, then just shut your mouth and stop spewing nonsense," Xiong Ruoyou glared at Bai Feifei and snapped back.

However, her red, swollen eyes completely undermined her attempt at intimidation. Instead, her expression was more amusing than threatening.

"Oh? So what's your relationship with her that you're defending her now? I thought you were into Mu Qingyun? Did you not see the way she treated that girl just now?" Bai Feifei scoffed, thinking Xiong Ruoyou was completely foolish.

Who defends their love rival?

Die Wu listened to their argument in silence, finally beginning to understand the situation.

So these two both liked Mu Qingyun?

"Mu Qingyun doesn't like me, and she never will," Die Wu turned to Xiong Ruoyou and gently hooked her finger around hers. "You don't have to worry."

[Hehehe, I love both of these pretty ladies. Just forget about Mu-ge and get together already! Leave him to me!][Why is Bai Feifei even here? Everyone on her team has fallen out with Mu-ge's group except for Kazel. How shameless can she be?]

"I-I didn't mean it that way. You're beautiful, and your wings are beautiful. Of course you'd be more appealing than someone like me, a big ol' bear," Xiong Ruoyou mumbled, then added silently to herself—and yet she's still so dumb.

Of the four of them, she was the only one who kept believing in Mu Xueyao. And now it was clear—she had been the stupid one, the easiest target for manipulation.

"That's not true. You're really cute, and you're a good person too. Even though we first met in a fight, I had a surprisingly good impression of you," Die Wu smiled softly.

She remembered that during their earlier confrontation, most of them had already started fighting, and Xiong Ruoyou had even transformed into her bear form. Yet, she stood there foolishly without interfering—there was something oddly endearing about it.

"Fake," Bai Feifei snorted when she saw the two ignoring her again.

But Die Wu and Xiong Ruoyou both chose to continue pretending she didn't exist.

Die Wu was, after all, a butterfly—gentle and easygoing. As long as you didn't cross her bottom line, she rarely got angry.

Meanwhile, in a distant office, Xiong Da slammed his fist on the table in anger. Unfortunately, the table was sturdier than expected, and the only one hurt was himself.

"Ow, my hand!" he cried, immediately cradling his bruised knuckles and blowing on them.

Xiong Er gave him a long, speechless look, wanting to say something but finding no words. He sighed in exasperation.

Xiong Da looked up at Xiong Lingfeng, his rage not dimmed in the slightest. "Boss, Xiao You wouldn't lie. That Deng Yijie guy—he's a vicious beast in human skin!"

Both Xiong Er and Xiong Lingfeng turned to look at him in unison, their gazes icy and indifferent, with a hint of contempt.

"W-why are you both looking at me like that? I didn't say anything wrong!" Xiong Da mumbled, feeling guilty under their stares but still believing in his own righteousness.

Sure, he had insulted someone just now, but that guy deserved it. The security company only prohibited insulting clients—it never said you couldn't insult anyone else.

"Speak properly," Xiong Er frowned. "How many times do I have to tell you to speak in standard Mandarin? You're a department leader, for crying out loud."

"Right, right—okay! What I meant was that we should teach Deng Yijie a lesson. How dare he play dirty tricks on our Xiao You!" Xiong Da said furiously, waving his fist like he was punching Deng Yijie right in front of him.

Xiong Er and Xiong Lingfeng exchanged a glance but said nothing.

That was just how Xiong Da was. He was a good guy—simple and sincere—but honestly, he wasn't the brightest.

"Go to Client #3's site and handle the paperwork. And behave. Don't stir up trouble," Xiong Lingfeng ordered with a glance.

"Boss, I'm not an idiot. You're just trying to send me away. We might not be all-powerful, but we're not so weak that we have to be bullied like this!" Xiong Da argued, refusing to leave.

"I never said we wouldn't deal with it. But this is not the time. Now go handle your business," Xiong Lingfeng snapped, growing irritated.

He had been too lenient with them—and now they were getting out of hand.

"No way. I'm not going anywhere until—"

Bang—!

Before he could finish, Xiong Da felt a sharp pain at the back of his neck. His mouth opened, but no words came out. His eyes rolled back, and his massive body fell to the ground with a thud.

Boom—!

A dull thud echoed through the room as Xiong Da's fall stirred up a cloud of dust.

"So noisy," Xiong Er rolled his eyes and muttered, frowning at the mess. "These janitors really don't do their jobs."

"Since he's out cold, let's talk about how we're going to get revenge," Xiong Lingfeng said, ignoring the unconscious man on the floor as he turned to Xiong Er.

After hunting, Mu Qingyun returned to the house.

Coincidentally, just as she arrived, Su and Fan Xuanye also returned.

As soon as she entered, she saw Bai Feifei sitting alone in the corner, scowling as she glared at the four others who were chatting and laughing together.

"Mu-ge is back!" Xiong Ruoyou exclaimed excitedly, clearly having enjoyed her conversation with Die Wu.

Mu Qingyun nodded in greeting, then turned her attention to Su and Fan Xuanye, who were tending to wounds.

Fan Xuanye had a gash on his arm, blood still seeping through. Su knelt in front of him, wrapping the wound with a bandage.

"What happened?" Mu Qingyun rushed over and knelt beside them.

"I was looking for you but couldn't find you, so I ended up hunting a few virtual beasts myself," Fan Xuanye said flatly, only relaxing after the bandaging was complete.

"By the way, there's something I've been meaning to ask," Su suddenly looked up, her expression serious. "Why are you suddenly in such a hurry to hunt virtual beasts? Is something going on?"

Her eyes were so sincere that Mu Qingyun hesitated for a moment.

Should she tell them?

No—definitely not. The fewer people involved, the better. There was no need to drag them into this mess.
