Adrian’s POV
The afternoon was dragging.
My boredom probably had to do with the fact that I was waiting around for my wife to come home. My laptop had gone to sleep after inactivity since I’d long given up the guise that I was getting any work done. Along with the files and change of clothes that Mason had brought, I’d also asked him to bring my laptop so I could get some things off my plate. He was already swamped trying to rearrange my schedule while I wasn’t in the office and investigating my kidnapping, so I figured it was only right that I didn’t just sit idle.
Except that’s exactly what I was doing.
Maybe not entirely idle, since my mind kept going back to my wife. I kept recalling the phone conversation I’d had with Mason not too long ago.
About half an hour after he’d left, I received a call from my personal aide. I had considered ignoring it since he had a special talent for annoying me, but then I remembered I had sent him on a little errand.
