Chapter 20- Unexpected Occurrences

Letisha’s POV

Adrian seemed nervous as he approached the receptionist area. I stood off to one side, determined not to interrupt his work. He didn’t seem like the type of person prone to nerves. It was probably just first-day jitters. I couldn’t help the proud grin that was plastered across my face.

I couldn’t believe he had gotten a job. While I hadn’t given much thought to it, I had assumed he would stay home since I’d made it clear that I would support us both. A part of me had relished the idea of taking care of him. I wanted to tell him he didn’t need to work, but I supposed it was a pride thing from his standpoint. He didn’t seem the type to sit around and twiddle his thumbs, so I guess it shouldn’t have surprised me that he’d decided to find a job.

“Why do you keep showing up in front of me?”

The familiar voice caused me to stiffen, and reluctantly, I turned to see Michael standing behind me with an angry scowl.

“ Shouldn't I be the one to ask that question?” I parried.
