Adrian’s POV
I made it to the hospital in one piece. I’d decided to take a taxi since having Mason send over my driver would have taken too long. On more than one occasion during the drive, the taxi driver had threatened to remove me from his car—a justified response to my threats when he managed to get snagged in traffic.
Out of frustration, I had alighted from the cab when the hospital building became visible, and the taxi driver had pulled to a stop at another red light. I’d completed the rest of the journey on foot.
For a moment, I stood on the crowded floor, unmoving, my breathing heavy, and my mind whirling. I wasn’t sure what to do or where to go, panic sending my heart into a tailspin and preventing my mind from forming logical thoughts.
“Sir? Are you okay? Can I help you?”
I blinked out of my haze and glanced down to see a nurse looking up at me worriedly.
“My wife,” I managed to grunt out. “She was in a car accident. I need to know what room she’s in.
