Chapter 2

He's gradually undermining my authority!

The next day.

I still showed up at the company.

By the time Zoran Smith burst through the door, I had already met with our business partners an hour earlier. The pen was poised to sign the contract.

He glared at me furiously and said in a cold voice:

"Emily, didn't we agree that I would sign with Mr. Chen today? What do you think you're doing?"

I feigned innocence, "Oh, I'm feeling better now. It won't interfere with work."

Just as I was about to put pen to paper, Zoran Smith snatched the pen right out of my hand.

Everyone present held their breath, not daring to make a sound.

"Mr. Chen, Scarlett, she—" Zoran Smith paused, putting on an air of helplessness.

"She has a mental illness. She's not fit to sign contracts with you."

I froze on the spot as all eyes in the room turned to me.

My depression had improved considerably in recent years and had never affected my work.

To protect me, my brother had always kept my depression a secret, hoping I would gradually recover through work.

But Zoran Smith had just announced it to everyone!

"Oh... so Miss Frost has a mental disorder..."

"She always seemed so normal..."Mr. Grey is her husband! Surely he wouldn't lie... It must be true."

"How terrifying, our company's leader is actually mentally ill."

My eyes instantly welled up with tears. The whispers of the crowd and their looks, as if I were some kind of freak, felt like sharp knives stabbing into my heart.

My whole body trembled as I found myself unable to speak. Zoran Smith's assistant half-guided, half-pushed me out of the conference room.

When he returned to his office, satisfied after signing the contract, I fixed him with a red-eyed glare.

"Zoran Smith, what gives you the right to disclose my illness? You know damn well I only have depression. It doesn't affect my work at all!"

"Emily, I'm doing this for your own good—"

Before he could finish, a sugary-sweet female voice chimed in.

"Zoran, congratulations on becoming my sugar daddy."

It was Vivienne.

I hadn't known before that Zoran Smith was acquainted with his goddess, but now nothing surprised me anymore.

So this was why Zoran Smith had insisted on snatching this contract – it was all for Vivienne.

She only paused for a split second when she saw me, then quickly put on a warm and friendly expression."This is Zoran's wife, right? I've heard so much about you from him."

"Sis, if you're dealing with mental health issues, shouldn't you be resting at home? Why not let Zoran handle the company matters? He's always been so reliable and thorough."

Before I could respond, she feigned a shocked expression, pretending to cover her mouth with her hand.

"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry, I just overheard your conversation at the door and learned about your condition. You won't hold it against me, will you?"

She suddenly leaned in, attempting to grasp my hand, but I swiftly pushed her away.

I let out a cold laugh, gritting my teeth to hold back the tears threatening to spill.

I pointed at Vivienne.
