"Is he even paying attention?"

Soon after Arnolds return home, the voices for Aaron had stopped. He'd seen in movies and tv shows that some people get the power of telepathy. "But how will this alone help me find a man that's going to have hidden himself well" Aaron thought as he made his bed. He pulled his bed from the wall with the same effort he put in usually but this time he pulled it a little too much. "That's lighter than last week?" He thought as he didn't usually make his bed regularly. Aaron shrugs it off as he had been working out more regularly than he cleaned his room.

Next on the agenda was a few hours with his fit as fuck homeschool teacher Miss Clove. Aaron couldn't thank his dad enough for hiring her as the last teacher he'd previously wound up nearly had a mental breakdown with is poor behaviour. Miss Clove had done her hair up like the adult film stars on the internet and a low-cut black top which showed off just enough cleavage that she wasn't topless.

"Hello Aaron!" she exclaimed as Aaron entered the living room where she'd set up. Aaron was trying so hard not to read her mind.

"Hi Miss" He sat down opposite her whiteboard, prepared for an hour or so of trying not to get caught staring.

He couldn't help himself though. "Is he even paying attention?" Aaron heard as he stared at her immaculate body.

"Sorry miss, I'm a little distracted today" He said to her as if he was unprompted. Aaron was eager to test out his mind reading powers and was getting surprisingly bored of his teachers thoughts. Miss Clove finished off her lesson on some random maths he knew that he'd never need in the real world. "What do I need Pythagorean theorem for anyway? I'm not gonna be an architect or anything remotely like that" he thought.

"Did you enjoy this today Aaron?" Miss Clove asked as she bent over in front of him. Aaron lost in his own fantasy world couldn't wait to get out and explore his new found ability. He was trying not to kick her out as she'd always been kind to him.

"Wasn't too bad miss, it must be hard to make something like this sound exciting" Aaron said cheekily. Miss Clove sprang a cheeky smile of her own.

"Eighteen soon aren't you Aaron?"

"What was she getting at?" He thought knowing that she couldn't have been must younger than thirty. "Couple of weeks miss" Aaron had to read her mind now. As she packed up he liked what he heard.

"I could take him to dinner or maybe even go for a movie" Aaron thought all this time that his feelings of attraction were one sided.

"For my birthday miss, we could go see that new rom com that comes out on the ninth and grab a Nando's after?" He spoke with pride.

"I'm your teacher Aaron" He thought for a second that he'd got it wrong. "But I'm sure we could go as friends" that's not the idea he had.

"I've got enough friends miss" he laughed and scratched the back of his head. "Lets forget we had this conversation okay" Aaron rushed out of the room to the lift.

Canary Wharf was always bustling with busy people that just went about their day. Aaron knew that this place would be perfect. He turned on his telepathy with a mental switch…but it was too much for him to handle. He felt a searing pain deep in his brain…

"The voices" he spoke aloud. "Too many voices" he clenched either side of his head and as he did so he could hear a soft Irish accent calling out his name.

"Try to focus on one voice Aaron, only one" As the sphere spoke to him with is mothers voice he began to turn down what he was hearing. People walking past had stopped to stare at him like he was a drug riddled teenager. When he released his grip on his head he looked up.

"What are you lot looking at?" Aaron knew but acted like a brat anyway.

"You'll need to work at it more Aaron, You can turn down the volume of all people that are in the background around a target" It explains.

"A target?" It was like he was having a full-on conversation in his own head.

"Yes your target, but with practise you can tap into multiple minds at a single time"

Aaron was wondering when he'd have to use such an ability to connect with multiple people's minds. "I'll just focus on one at a time for the moment" This wasn't going to be an easy feat but it would certainly come in handy for more than just the task at hand.

"Have you noticed anything else?"

"What do you mean anything else?" Aaron asks the voice. "Can it not see through my eyes?"

"No I cannot" Aaron forgot that he couldn't hide his thoughts from it. Without saying another word Aaron pondered what it could have meant. "Maybe it could be talking about me moving my bed earlier? It was easier to move to make it?" he wondered as he walked into the tube station nearby.

"zzzzzzzzzhdshdskjhdk"  The sphere was clearly trying to respond to Aaron's thoughts but as he went further and further into the underground it seemed to lose signal. "I can think in peace for a while" he thought freely.

An hour later Aaron had arrived on the metropolitan line to the place where he'd landed out of nothingness. Ruislip Lido Beach was a little busier than it had been at one this morning but nowhere near as busy as canary wharf.

"This place should be perfect for you to develop this ability" the sphere advised. That was Aarons idea from hopping on the tube.

"Lets start off small" Aaron had spotted a women laid on one of the loungers. Aaron wondered if others could feel him intruding their minds but focused still.

"its so bright today, I knew I should have brought my shades" Aaron didn't know what he was hoping he'd hear but all this women could think of was trivial crap he had no interest in. He moved on.

"What do I have to do for dad to get me the xbox…I GOT IT!" The boys eyes grew bigger. "I'll tell mummy about his alone time with aunty susan…noooo that'll get me beaten again." The little boy rubbed his right arm.

"Parenting standards have certainly dropped since I was a kid" Aaron thinks to himself. All of a sudden all of the voices came back… Aaron knew he had to learn to turn the voice down but couldn't yet so switched off the power as the sphere had done it before.

"Better than having an aneurysm" Aaron said as he wiped something from his top lip. "Blood?" he must have pushed himself too hard. "Must be like a muscle" he gathered.

"SOMEONE HELP US!" a cry for help could be faintly heard in the distance by the toilets. "ITS MY BOYFRIEND, HE'S NOT RESPONDING" Aaron rushes over to the sight of a man that he was surprised could move on his own at all.

"How can I help?" He asked himself. The women was trying to move her boyfriend to no avail.

"I called an ambulance but I can't move him to the main road" Aaron knew not to move the casualty but with this person as frantic as she was he had to try and put her at ease by helping out.

"Do you know what's wrong with him?"

"He's hypoglycemic" they could move him no problem now, but the issue of the gentlemen's size was still a serious problem. Assuming that these guys didn't pack one of those EpiPens Aaron couldn't not try.

He positioned himself the best he could then puts the obese male into the recovery position so Aaron could easier lift him. Aaron for five-foot fuck all which meant that he may hurt himself but he didn't care. He was feeling strong. Aaron pulled the guys arm till he could get under him. Aaron was close to pushing himself too far but a switch clicked in his head…same as before. He stood up straight with this two-hundred-kilogram man casually being held on his shoulder.

"Wow" no one was expecting this seventeen-year-old to be able to do this. He didn't look like he was struggling at all.

The ambulance was waiting at the main road on blues. The crew were just as surprised as everyone else that this scrawny young man had carried this man for over a hundred meters without breaking a sweat.

As Aaron put down the hefty man, the menu screen popped up out of nowhere.

"You have unlocked the proving ground"
