Aaron's POV
I drove back to my office after the encounter with Lois. I still could not put my finger around what I did wrong. Lois was angry at me, but the I reaction today was more than her usual reaction, and this could not be because of that kiss.
I got to my office minutes later, and my office was not far from my sister's office, so it was a short journey. Our dad made sure all the carsons company were built close to each other .
I entered the office, and everywhere seemed cosy and nice. Everybody were in their positions working, I smiled and nodded as I walked past them. I sighted my assistant walking towards me with a concerned look on his face.
'The chairman is here' he said as he approached me. That explained the look on his face. What does this man want now?.
'Did he tell you why he is here?' I asked my assistant.
"No sir" he said. I walked to the elevator with my assistant right behind me. I did not know why this man was here, but I knew he was not here because he missed me or anything.
I arrived at my office and walked straight to my office door. I entered and saw him seated already with his back facing me.
'How may I help you?' I asked, making him turn his back at me. He still looked scary as always. He looked so intimidating and scary. Someone who did not know him would think he had once served in the military. He looked at me with a demeaning look. I saw a slight hint of disappointment in his eyes and disapproval.
'I heard your wife is not staying under the same roof with you right now' he said. Of course he knew, he always stalked everything I did, and now he is stalking my marriage. I expected nothing less.
'How can you run a company if you can't keep your house together?' he asked furiously. But I did not say anything, I just stood there.
The trick was just to listen to all he had to say, don't give him the reaction he wants from you because when he gets it, things would get out of control and I will be the one hurt in the end.
'I hope you know you have just a year to get her pregnant, at this rate I don't think that is possible' he said ' You can't even get her to stay under the same roof as you, talkless of getting her pregnant' he said and I was fuming, I tried to keep my cool.
He really had to go there, I knew I was running out of time with Lois, but at the same time, I respected every decision of hers. It was her body, and she got to decide. Not that it would ever be possible with her. She hates me, and I would be the last person in the world she would ever have sex with.
'Dad mind you business and leave my marriage alone'' I growled at him, and he smirked. He finally got the reaction he wanted from me, and he was thrilled.
'Your wedding announcement party is next week, I want her in the same house at you before then' he said and stood up to leave. Good riddance.
'Oh before I forget, don't forget your honeymoon comes after' he said before leaving. Oh snap, I totally forgot about the honeymoon. I doubt Lois would be down to spend a week alone with me in a fancy place.
I closed my eyes and sighed deeply. I was just tired about everything.
My assistant came in shortly after my dad left.
'This is the list you requested' he said, handing me a list of names.
'List?' I asked, totally confused because I could not remember asking for any list. I looked at it and saw it was the list of many partners and investors in our company.
'Yes, the list of guests for your wedding announcement party' he said. Snap, I asked him to put this together, I had a lot on my mind this past week and totally forgot about this.
'Oh thank you, I said, and he left. I immediately emailed it to my mum because she was the one in charge of the party.
After hours of working, it was finally time to go home. I packed my things and prepared to go back to that empty house.
I entered my car and drove off. I arrived at the house later on, hoping I would see Lois's car in the driveway, but it was empty. I was scared to go to her house again, I did not want it to seem like I was intruding or anything, so I did not bother.
I parked my car in the driveway.
....................................................
It was so late at night when I heard a car pull up in the driveway, I was in the living room, so I heard it clearly. I sprang up and ran to the window to check secretly, hoping it was Lois.
It was Lois but she was with a man, She was looking at him in a way she never looked at me and I felt a pang of jealously. It seemed like their conversation ended because Lois proceeded to leave, but he pulled her back and kissed her.
I felt so angry and jealous and wanted to punch the jerk in the face, but I didn't move. After all, Lois said this was a loveless marriage, and her contract talked about boundaries.
I could not look again and hurried to the room and lay on the bed. I did not know what to do after seeing my wife, who left our house for days, only to come back home kissing a man in our driveway.
So I just laid down and didn't move. Even when she came in, I pretended not to know she was there.
I felt betrayed.
