I realized that no matter how I hit the ball, or even if I didn't hit it at all, it would mysteriously find its way into the hole.

Finally, the moment arrived when the referee declared a tie.

The entire venue fell silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. It seemed even the wind had ceased to blow.

Genevieve appeared dazed until her secretary approached with the contract, snapping her back to reality.

"Why are you coming to me with this? You should be asking Harlow!" Genevieve's shrill cry pierced the air.

Her scream jolted me back to my senses. I watched, unblinking, as the secretary approached me, seemingly bearing hope.

Meanwhile, in the distance, both Genevieve and Kael grew visibly tense, yet they appeared frozen in place, as if restrained by some invisible force.

I flipped through the contract over and over, even going so far as to shamelessly strip search the female secretary.
