chapter 10: The Curse of Yuki

On the way to Mira's house, Ryuka suddenly asked Arata something.

"By the way, why did you help her?" asked Ryuka.

"Well, there's no special reason. I just didn't like the way they treated Mira," said Arata.

"True, their treatment is really annoying," said Ryuka.

"Exactly, who could stand being treated like that?" said Arata.

After hearing Arata's reasoning, Ryuka suddenly said something in a very low voice, almost inaudible to anyone.

"(Whispering) Hmph, you're such a fool for helping someone without thinking, but for some reason, that's what I like about you," said Ryuka.

"Huh? What did you say?" asked Arata.

"N-nothing, I was just talking to myself. Don't mind me," said Ryuka.

Arata glanced at Ryuka suspiciously, but chose to ignore it.

After asking Ryuka about that, Arata turned to Mira and asked about her younger sibling.

"By the way, Mira, when did your little sister get sick?" asked Arata.

"She's been sick for about a month," said Mira.

"Do you know what caused her illness?" asked Arata.

"Hmm, let me think for a moment..." said Mira.

Mira tried to recall what had caused her sister to fall ill.

Then, she remembered the reason her sister had been sick.

"Ah, I remember, my sister ate something," said Mira.

"Something? What did she eat?" asked Arata.

"If I'm not mistaken, she brought something from outside," said Mira.

"From outside? Didn't you ask her about it?" asked Arata.

"That's the problem. When I wanted to ask, it was too late. She had already eaten the food she brought, and then she fainted. But strangely, every midnight, she would scream uncontrollably," said Mira.

"I see," said Arata.

Ryuka, who was standing beside them, asked Arata if he knew the disease.

"So, do you know what kind of illness this is?" asked Ryuka.

"I'm not sure yet, but it's pretty strange. But I might be able to cure it," said Arata.

"Just be careful, though. That disease might be contagious," said Ryuka.

"Oh, you're concerned about me?" said Arata.

"S-someone has to be concerned. I just said it because you promised to buy something for me later," said Ryuka.

"Alright, alright, I believe you. But don't worry, I'll be careful," said Arata.

"Hmph, good. Don't get hurt," said Ryuka.

"Alright, alright," said Arata.

Arata smiled slightly, amused by Ryuka's tsundere behavior.

Not long after, they arrived at Mira's house, which looked like a haunted house, with cobwebs everywhere.

"We've arrived. This is my house," said Mira.

"This is your house? Why does it look so run-down?" asked Arata.

"True, there are so many spider webs, the roof is leaking, and the walls are full of cracks," said Ryuka.

"I'm sorry. It's because we don't have enough money to buy a proper house. This is all we could afford," said Mira.

"I see. Sorry if I sounded harsh earlier," said Arata.

"It's okay. I'm used to hearing those kinds of remarks. Well then, come in. I'll show you where my sister is," said Mira.

Arata walked into Mira's house with Ryuka by his side.

Inside, the condition was even worse than outside. Many of the furniture was broken, the sofa was unfit to sit on, and many chairs were destroyed.

"(Whispering) It's even worse inside than outside, isn't it?" said Ryuka.

"(Whispering) Shh, it's not surprising. They don't have enough money," said Arata.

Soon after, they arrived at Mira's sister's room, where they saw Yuki lying weakly on the bed.

"Here's my sister. Her name is Yuki," said Mira.

"Yuki, what a lovely name. May I approach?" asked Arata.

"Yes, of course," said Mira.

After receiving Mira's permission, Arata approached Yuki, who was lying weakly.

He took her hand and was shocked when he discovered the illness Yuki had.

"This disease... could it be..." said Arata.

"Huh? What happened to my sister? Do you know what illness she has?" asked Mira.

"I know what it is, and this is no ordinary disease," said Arata.

"No ordinary disease? Then what's it called?" asked Mira.

"The disease is called Yoruha Shou. It's very dangerous. If we wait another week, she could turn into something completely different, and there's a high chance she could die," said Arata.

"Huh? How could this happen? Yuki, what did you eat that day?" said Mira, crying as she looked at her sister.

"Please stay strong, Mira. Yuki can still be saved," said Arata.

"Can you save her?" asked Mira.

"Of course I can. But I need to concentrate fully, and no one should disturb me while I heal your sister," said Arata.

"In that case, please heal her. I'll do anything for you if you can save her," said Mira.

"Alright, I'll begin the healing process. Ryuka, please stand guard outside and make sure no one disturbs me," said Arata.

"Hmph, you're ordering me around, but since it's you, fine. I'll keep an eye out. But don't push yourself too hard," said Ryuka.

"Alright, I know," said Arata.

Ryuka immediately went outside to stand guard while Arata began healing Yuki.

"Alright then, please extend your hand, Mira," said Arata.

"Is this part of the healing process?" asked Mira.

"Yes, we're going into your sister's dream, and you'll have to wake her up yourself," said Arata.

"Okay," said Mira.

As Mira extended her hand, Arata activated his magic to enter Yuki's dream along with Mira.

Seirei Yume Tokoyami

Once the spell was activated, Arata and Mira found themselves in Yuki's dream. They saw Yuki's soul sitting, unconscious.

"Is that Yuki?" asked Mira.

"Yes, that's her, or rather, that's her soul. She's unconscious," said Arata.

"Is that so? What should I do now?" asked Mira.

"You need to wake her up as soon as possible, but be careful. Don't use force, or her soul will be damaged and she won't be able to wake up," said Arata.

"I understand. I'll try," said Mira.

Mira immediately approached her sister's soul.

Meanwhile, outside, Ryuka was standing guard to make sure no one entered while Arata healed Yuki.

Suddenly, a group of people appeared, intending to extort Mira.

"Mira, oh Mira, come out now, or we'll burn this house down!" shouted one of the group members.

"Hey, who are you? Why do you want her to come out?" asked Ryuka.

"Oh, there's a pretty girl. Move aside, or else..."

"Or else what?" asked Ryuka.

"Or else we'll hurt you," said one of the group members.

Hearing they intended to hurt her, Ryuka sighed, seeing how ridiculous they were.

"(Sighing) What a bunch of annoying people," said Ryuka.

"Huh? How dare you insult us? Fine, feel this!" shouted one of the group members.

The group immediately cast a spell, and as the spell almost hit Ryuka, she quickly summoned a barrier to prevent them from entering.

"Tch, weaklings. Is that all you can do?" said Ryuka.

"Don't be so cocky. We've also brought a powerful party from the guild we hired," said the group.

Just then, the party arrived, and Ryuka was shocked to see them.

Who is this party that surprised Ryuka? Is this party truly strong enough to break through Ryuka's barrier? Will Arata and Mira be able to wake up Yuki without any issues? Find out in Chapter 11.
