SHITTY BOSS WITH A GOOD MONEY

It had been a week since Kai Wood had guided a Noah Miles. Again, it wasn't his first time guiding, even though his compatible score with other Esper's was so low he was still able to guide because of his rank. He had met a lot of Esper and for him Noah Miles was the worst.

They did their first task to a place remote from the city, only Esper and Guide with rank A++ and S+ came there, the dungeon that appeared this time had appeared in other places before, a dungeon with level S.

When the other guides went inside, Noah Miles asked him not to go in. An argument ensued between them but Kai tried to give in because in the end it was all a waste of time, Noah Miles did not want him to wait for him or get guiding while he was in the Dungeon.

Noah Miles completed his missions quickly, he always used a watch and counted the time he was in the Dungeon. He also never waited patiently for the other Esper assigned to help him to arrive, he would go alone into the Dungeon and complete it, when the other Esper arrived he just left without explaining that the mission was completed.

"He has a bad temper."

Kai couldn't agree more. When lunchtime came, Noah Miles was never in his own office. He disappeared somewhere and returned without explaining anything, Kai didn't care but Luka kept asking him and making sure that Kai was with Noah.

"Damn it..." Kai babbled, he pressed his cheek against the table, his face looking crumpled. Eye circles were beginning to appear as his sleep was interrupted, he couldn't sleep for another eight hours now. Although Noah Miles had a fixed schedule, if something happened and a high rank Esper was needed he would be called in on an emergency basis.

"You've only been working with him for a week." Knox flipped through the paper he had to study before signing. This was the umpteenth time Kai had stopped by his office just to complain about Noah Miles. Kai went to the office four times a week and in that span of time, instead of going to his own office, he went to Knox's office to complain.

He glanced at Kai who looked so messy, Knox had heard that Noah Miles' personality wasn't so good but he didn't know that it really made Kai as terrible as he was now.

He looked sleep deprived and exhausted.

"Why are you asking about Jayden Ackland?" He asked, trying to change the subject as he was tired of hearing the boy complain about his endless work after becoming a guide for Noah Miles.

Kai now sat up straight and looked at Knox with searching eyes.

"You said you went to the same school as those two?"

Knox nodded as he signed the file he had been reading, "We were in the same class. It seems like you met them during the junior high graduation, wasn't the junior high graduation held in our high school building? At that time Noah Miles and Jayden Ackland came as high school alumnus and gave speeches, a year after graduation."

Kai closed his eyes, he tried to search for the memory in his head but failed. He didn't remember it at all. He went to the same school as Knox after his father passed away, the school included middle school and high school as well in a separate building.

"Why are you so curious about Jayden Ackland?"

"Noah Miles mistook me for Jayden Ackland when I was guiding him the first time in the Dungeon, he kept asking if I was Jay, if I was coming back, he apologized through tears." Kai scratched his head while yawning in the middle of the story, he leaned his back against the chair again.

Knox stopped his activities, he looked at Kai after hearing what the man said.

"Noah doesn't want to have a guide anymore, he says he doesn't need one. But you know what? Luka, the healer who works at Fern's guild lab said that Noah's condition worsened after he was 'woke up' a few months ago."

"Woke up?"

"I only heard it once and didn't ask more, do you know about it?"

Knox shook his head slowly, he put the file on the table and was now looking at Kai fully. His hand on the table was now playing with the pen he had been holding, tapping away.

"Hey, Kai, don't find out too much about Noah Miles." Knox finally said so after a moment of silence, thinking.

Kai shrugged his shoulders, "I'm not interested either."

What happened to Noah Miles two years ago was a mystery, no one knew except for the people in Fern's guild. Even when it happened, Knox, who often gathered with other guild members, didn't get any news about where Noah Miles had disappeared to.

Two people who were like an inseparable couple suddenly disappeared, one was declared dead in action, the other was only mentioned as being off duty until an indefinite period of time.

Hearing what Kai told Knox, he was quite curious about what happened. But, this was all about Noah Miles. He didn't want his younger brother to get into trouble, Kai was already tormented enough with a low compatible score with the other Esper and not getting a steady job for the past two years.

"But despite his shitty-like personality, he has a lot of money." Kai muttered as Knox had many options in his head. Kai's fiery red eyes shone, a sign that he was excited.

"You know what? Noah Miles' house is so big. He has a huge yard, and his fridge is so full!"

"Hey, the fridge at home is full too! You'll offend mom if she hear that!"

"AHHHH that's not it! The fridge at our home is full too, but mom always forbids me to keep snacks!" Kai babbled again and Knox just shook his head. Yes, his mother until today did not allow Kai to leave the house. Unlike Knox who really didn't want to leave the main house, Kai had asked several times to live alone after work. However, his mother did not allow it.

"Then, you should hold in all your anger. Because your boss has a lot of money." Knox teased Kai before the boy left his office.

Kai returned to Noah Miles' residence after rambling all day to Knox in his office, he was done with his work at the Oak guild. Noah also didn't ask him to come to the open area of the dungeon for guiding, this was the fourth time they had held hands today and it seemed to be enough.

Kai laid his body down on the bed after cleaning up and changing his clothes, he remembered how Noah was when he found him in the Dungeon, that was the first time he saw someone physically burned because of his own power.

Esper has psychic powers, and usually combat esper also has one of them. Hearing Luka's explanation a few days ago, Kai thought that Noah might not have any psychic powers other than the one inside him.

Esper has their own characteristics and Kai can't guess whether Noah has psychic powers or not.

He sighed, just about to close his eyes he heard the sound of the front door opening. The sound of shoes stepping on the floor and the sound of the refrigerator opening.

"Are you home?" Noah said it a little loudly from the kitchen.

Kai sighed again, he then came out of the room. He walked a little and found Noah in the kitchen, his body half wet, he drank cold water from the bottle quickly.

The man's face began to turn red and Kai knew that Noah needed him, he approached Noah quickly and took the man's hand. He poured his energy into Noah, guiding. The man was breathing heavily. He clutched his chest as Kai opened the floating screen to check on him.

"Your body is really in distress, if you continue to resist guiding in the dungeon, it will be very dangerous." Kai said as he continued to press the buttons on the floating screen, ensuring that all of his energy entered Noah's body and neutralized the man's energy.

"Don't make noise, just do your job and be quiet. I don't want you to go into the Dungeon." Noah said in a slightly hoarse voice, his chest like a seesaw, he was trying to take in as much air as possible.

"It's not the first time I'm guiding even though my compatible score with other Esper's is small, I've entered the dungeon several times, so what are you worried about?"

Noah let go of the hand roughly, Kai was startled by the sudden movement, he turned his head towards Noah. When he turned his head he found Noah's angry face, those beautiful eyes with long eyelashes looking at him full of annoyance.

"DON'T GO TO THE DUNGEON WITH ME." Noah said it with a lot of stress in each word, he was clutching his chest with his breath caught in his throat. Kai had just about opened his mouth to argue, to say that he also had a weapon as a guide with a high rank. But seeing Noah's poor condition he swallowed all that anger.

Oh, shit, this was the first time he didn't argue with someone until he won.

He held Noah's hand again without saying a word, Noah continued to pant until his body temperature dropped slightly and he suddenly lost consciousness. Kai immediately caught the man's body, and carried him.

He brought Noah into the room, a room that was much colder than any room in the house. He undressed Noah, stripping him down like Luka had instructed. He could see the reddish colored tattoos on the pale body on some parts of his sides, he really covered the burns with many tattoos.

Kai saw the butterfly tattoo on his neck, he frowned, there was no burn there. Then, why was he covering it up? Kai didn't let go of his hold on the man, he partially covered Noah's body with a blanket and waited while continuing to monitor his condition through the floating screen.

"He's really a boss with a manners like shit, I'm glad that you have so much money." He muttered, and also handsome. With pretty slender fingers.
