Professor Grim always had a perculiar habit of roaming the corridors of the academy every morning before class. Many didn't know why but the few whom managed to ask her were actually surprised by her answer.
"It's a habit from back when I was assassin, I used to survey the areas, where my target resided in before I kill them."
Back then to account for any and all form of unwanted variables that might disrupt the flow of her assassination she made sure to familiarize herself with the terrain and also memorize all pathways that might be used as an escape.
Ones she had anticipated all of them she would set traps to finish her job in a situation where her target managed to escape.
With such a mindset she had ones be one of the few top tier assassin whom had a 99% succession rate earning the name Grimreaper, the first four of said title now acting as her name.
"Day 3670, the corridor remains the same. No variable to speak of, no change just the same old students."
Walking through the corridor with her hands behind her along a stern look, she resembled a warden...no an executioner eyeing the masses for a new prey. The student that unknownly were caught in her sight stiffened, their expression darkened in fright as they hurrily fled out her path while the teacher she came across paid her not much hind.
Most were used to her antics by now so they either ignored her or warmly greeted her. She on the other hand remained unaffected by their reaction. Just like the corridors of the building remained the same so too were the reaction she caused. There were those whom were scared of her, those welcoming, those neutral and those whom hated her. Just like any other human or any other creature she evoked mixed reaction which she found better than no reaction at all.
With everything said and done she was about to end her walk when a young man with luscious blonde hair blocked her path.
At first she was confused as her body unconscious came to a halt not knowing how to proceed.
The young man if she remembered correctly was among the new recruit the principal had hired.
She had done a background check on him the moment he was employed and while he was pleasing to the eyes, there wasn't any other thing noteworthy about him...wait there was, if she also remembered correctly she had seen him always fleeing from he Sword Saint granddaughter. She curious about the relationship they had but she also wasn't motivated enough to try investigating it.
"Instructer..."
"Art." The young man finished it for her realizing she had forgotten his name. He seemed disappointed by such a minor detail but he quickly accepted it as normal after all it wasn't like he was memorable in anything except his appearance.
"Instructer Art do you by chance need anything from me?"
Rubbing the dark spot underneath her burning eyes she questioned. Last she remembered Villier was responsible for him so it could be he had sent him to her for something.
Art stared at her confused, surprise she didn't know he was going to be her teaching assistant for the day.
"Actually Professor Villier sent me to you to be you assist for the day."
"Villier!"
"Yes. Something about a meeting with the assocation."
"I see.".Nodding in understanding she pulled the sleeves of her long coat back, her gaze fixed on the smart watch on her right wrist.
"Was that all?"
Pushing her sleeves back, she asked.
"Yes." Art responded finding conversation with Professor Grim much harder than he expected.
"I have a class at 8:00, the Knight floor, class A, you can met me there when it's time."
With nothing more to say she tried walking pass him only to be blocked one's again.
".... Instructer Art."
A bit flustered she stepped back to find the young man staring at her one's more, this time with a gaze so profound she found her heart pounding a bit.
With a barely audible gulp, she tried looking away only for Art's words to follow.
"You're going for you famous walks right?"
"... yes!"
She didn't know when this habits of her's had become famous but yes she was doing that.
"Can I tag along."
Professor Grim one's death expression morphed into a complicated one as she left unable to respond.
Did she want the young man's company, yes she did. A walk all by herself was boring and despairing, the two thing that perfectly describes her. She wanted company, someone to talk to, someone to understand her but even in this marvelous academy trimming with the most eccentric and abnormal people alive no one did that for her.
For the teacher they were too busy with their students or trying to gain the next promotion which she also sympathized with. She has students of her own after.
Then came the students, they had been few whom tried to form a bond with her but after the four year of their stay here came up and they left, she never saw them again.
Some either had forgotten her because of her boring personality while others had been killed by the creatures of the abyss when they took on the mantle of a hero, as for the other students they were too scared of her to try anything.
So yes she wouldn't might he if tagged along but....
"What if he thinks I'm boring."
As always her mind couldn't help but inject that thought into her mind. She didn't want to mess up after the young man had personal asked to tag along with her. This was a one's in a lifetime opportunity to form a bond. Yes she wouldn't mess this up. She no longer wanted to be called Grim the depressed by all her fellows college in her department so she will agree, entertain him and not messed this chance up.
