Chapter 109: The Treacherous and Shameless Sunagakure, and War!

Although it seemed that Seimei and Sorata fought the group of seventeen Sunagakure ninjas for a long time, the true fight only lasted for less than two minutes.

That was how the battles between ninjas were.

Quick and decisive.

Unless the enemies played the game of hide-and-seek, launched guerrilla warfare tactics, or faced hundreds of ninjas on a battlefield, a battle between ninjas usually ended swiftly.

After all, most ninjas' defenses were fragile when compared to their offensive capabilities. Even if two ninjas were evenly matched, the varying tactics, cunning, and advantage of intel could lead the battles to end within minutes.

It wasn't the world of Dragon Ball or One Piece where the superhumans had monstrous physical defense, making the fights last for hours, if not days.

Here, one mistake, and you would be killed.

Of course, stat monsters like Senju Hashirama, Susanoo-clad Uchiha Madara, those bastards with Steel Release, Jinchuriki, and some special technique users didn't count.

However, if your body could become as powerful as Hashirama or those horned Otsutsuki bastards, or you had some insane regeneration, then you could truly become a tank ninja, not a glass cannon like most Shinobi in this world.

Seimei was working to make himself a tank ninja. With his Otsutsuki bloodline, as long as he trained continuously, he could obtain the resilient body of an Otsutsuki within a few decades, instead of hundreds or thousands of years.

Just look at those horned aliens.

Even if you smashed them to the ground, collapsed a mountain on them, broke their bones, or stabbed their hearts, they would still regenerate their injuries somehow unless you completely and decisively ground them to dust, decapitate them, or seal them in some unholy space.

And even if you killed them, you could never be sure that they were truly dead if the Otsutsuki you killed had unlocked the Kama Seal.

They were unkillable cockroaches, unlike the most glass-cannon ninjas of this world.

Unfortunately, at the age of ten, Seimei also fell into the category of the glass-cannon ninja. He still had some Jutsu to compensate for the weak defense, though. For example, his newly acquired Earth Release techniques made his body as tough as steel.

But it was still inherently weak against the Lightning Release techniques.

Unless he evolved his Sharingan to Mangekyo Sharingan and unlocked Susanoo, he would still need to be wary not to get directly hit by any Jutsu.

Therefore, although Seimei cursed his distant Otsutsuki relatives, he still wanted a body and skills like theirs.

But those things could wait right now.

Because the reinforcement Seimei and Uchiha Sorata were waiting for had just arrived after a full minute of the conclusion of the battle.

Seimei casually glanced at the ANBU ninjas, a few more patrolling Konoha ninjas, and his remaining teammates for his mission, who were looking at the destruction and carnage with a serious expression.

Seimei finally asked, "Took you long enough. Why did it take so long for you to come here after we were literally detonating explosive tags and fireballs?"

Uchiha Sorata didn't say anything, but he also examined the reactions of his comrades with a scrutinizing look.

One of the Elite Jonin of Konoha coughed embarrassingly and replied, "We wanted to help."

"But when we tried to come here, we were ambushed by numerous unidentified ninjas. Many of them were as strong as Chunin, and there were some Jonin in the mix, too."

"That's what delayed us."

Uchiha Sorata asked, "Did you find out what is going on here?"

"So many unidentified ninjas ambushed us within the Fire Country. That's outrageous."

The Elite Jonin shook his head and responded, "Although most of them fled, we still managed to capture a few and killed quite a lot of them."

"Once we send them to the Yamanaka clan's mind-reading specialists, we should get our answers."

Hearing this, Seimei looked at Senju Haku and asked, "By the way, leader, do you know someone named Masaru?"

Senju Haku thought for a bit before replying, "Masaru is a rather common name in the Land of Wind. So, unless you have his surname or tell me what he looked like, I won't be able to pinpoint which Masaru you're talking about here."

Seimei nodded, "I will explain everything in the mission report."

Then, he pointed at the dead ninjas with puppets and asked, "And what about them?"

"They fought with puppets."

"They are from Sunagakure for sure. Can't we hold them accountable?"

Haku sighed and explained, "That's of no use."

"Unless we have concrete proof, the Suna officials will just claim that they got those puppets from the black market and they weren't Sunagakaure's official ninjas."

"Did you find any documents or a forehead protector that you could at least show as proof?"

Seimei shook his head helplessly.

Haku replied, "Then, there you have it."

"Sunagakure will never admit that they were their official ninjas."

"They could easily claim that these were ninjas from some independent clans, completely brushing off any kind of responsibility."

"As for the guy Masaru, they could also claim we are talking nonsense or he isn't a part of Sunagakure."

"Those Suna and Kiri bastards are quite similar in this aspect. They act shamelessly and then shrug off any form of responsibility. They could go as far as not recognizing or selling their own comrades for the sake of profit."

Hearing this, Seimei was a bit dumbfounded.

Not recognizing their own ninjas? Selling their comrades?

So, Sunagakure had always been such a bitch of a ninja village?

And here I thought it was only the future fourth Kazekage, Rasa, who was traitorous and ruthless.

He sold the war hero Pakura to Kirigakure for a peace treaty.

He conspired and let his own wife die to force Gara to become a qualified and controllable tool.

He even tried to kill Gara at some point.

And now, it looks like this first Kazekage, Reto, and the current Suna higher-ups are also the same.

They would backstab their comrades at a moment's notice.

A bunch of absolute bastards.

Thinking this far, Seimei could only scratch the back of his head.

Sunagakure was getting restless. And so was Kumogakure.

Both villages were causing trouble.

There was no trouble from the Land of Water's side for now. And the ninjas from Iwagakure, or the Land of Earth, wouldn't send their forces to the Land of Fire unless our forces began running thin.

He looked at his team leader, Seju Haku, and asked, "The war is coming, isn't it?"

Senju Haku smiled wryly, with a helpless expression, and confirmed, "Yes."

"The war is coming."

"And this time, it will be on a scale the world has never witnessed before."

"This time, it won't just be a few clans who will participate in a bloody massacre."

"It will be a carnage consisting of tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of Shinobi. All united. They will have only one goal—to completely defeat or subdue the enemy ninja villages and their military forces."

"I don't know how many people we will lose this time."

Seimei stayed silent as he heard Senju Haku speak.

As someone who had watched the Naruto anime before transmigration, he was familiar with how the countries in this world functioned.

And if he thought deeply, even countries in his previous world worked the same way in the Middle Ages and in ancient times.

The rulers of the nations, the politicians, and the nobles sought advantages. They desired new territories and more subjects to increase taxes and resources for their own enrichment.

What was the best way to do that?

It was to wage war.

Sure, common people would suffer.

But the ruling class could fill their coffers.

And we, the ninjas, were now the official military forces of these ruling classes.

As long as human greed, which was only one of the most fundamental emotions, existed, the wars would never end.

That was true in his previous world.

This was true in this world as well.

Peace?

Seimei wasn't naive, nor was he delusional.

True peace never existed. As long as there were conflicts of interest, peace would never truly come.

At most, you could suppress the hungry wolves with absolute power for a while.

Seimei had no interest in chasing something as illusory or fragile as peace.

He knew war would happen, and he had to fight.

If not against his fellow humans, then against the chakra beasts.

And beyond them, he had to fight against the extraterrestrial alien civilizations that had long set their eyes on this world.

The Otsutsuki clan.

For their quest for chakra fruit and more power, they would never let a planet like this Shinobi world, which they had already planted a God Tree on, go.

They would come.

And then, a war on a whole new scale would begin.

Peace was only temporary. Only interests and war were eternal.

Seimei, a transmigrator and an adult soul, understood this.

So, his only wish was to become powerful enough to make sure no one could harm the people and the home he cherished so much.

To become powerful enough to ensure that those with malicious intent would never dare to extend their greedy paws toward him and his home.

And if they did, he would destroy them.

He would reach that level one day.

He would reach that level one step at a time.

First, he needed to pass through the first trial of fire and blood, which was about to come.

The First Great Shinobi World War!

There are still a couple of years before the first ninja world war begins.

I can't slack off. I need to prepare.

Seimei sighed slowly before he headed back to the inn with his fellow Konoha Shinobi.

This was only the first day.

They still needed to patrol this town for four more days.

"Let's hope the remaining days won't be this chaotic."
