What A Silly Girl

At the back entrance of the building, a special camera hung around Janice's neck. It had been more than two hours since she camped there, but she did not see anyone entering or leaving.

She was a little skeptical that perhaps she had gone to the wrong place. Just as she was wondering, Lucy called.

"Janice, how are things over on your side?"

Janice looked at the empty back door, "No one."

"No way. It's been so long already. It's almost time for lunch. Why hasn't he shown up yet?"

Lucy complained.

Janice was also very depressed. She and Lucy had devised various ways to sneak in, but none of them succeeded.

The security here was really good.

"Then what should we do? Should we continue to wait?"

Lucy was also confused about their next step, but since she was here, there was no reason for her to give up so easily.

"Let's wait a little longer."

Upon hearing Lucy's words, Janice did not say anything else.

In truth, she did not agree with Lucy's method. Although news people often did this kind of thing, this time they were totally working blind. After all, they did not even know the guy's appearance. Even if he walked past her, she would not know.

However, as colleagues, they had to cooperate. Since Lucy said so, she might as well give it a try first.

According to Christopher's instructions, Rob went to the security room to check the surveillance cameras of every exit. Sure enough, he saw Janice standing alone at the back door.

"How long has she been standing there?" Rob asked. The security guard said, "More than two hours." Rob was stunned and quickly called Christopher.

In the office, Christopher listened to Rob's findings. When he heard Janice had been standing at the door for more than two hours, he couldn't help frowning.

He had thought that she would leave soon, but she was persistent.

What a silly girl.

He ordered Rob, "Arrange for her to go to the reception room on the first floor and treat her well. When she wants to leave, let her go."

"Yes."

Rob hung up the phone and called the receptionist.

Not long after, the receptionist followed Rob's instructions and invited Janice into the reception room on the first floor.

When Janice was brought into the reception room, she was really flattered.

"Did Mr. Bateman agree to be interviewed?", Janice asked.

However, the receptionist just smiled at her without saying anything.

First, she brought over coffee, then some snacks, but she did not answer Janice's question.

Looking at the receptionist coming and going, Janice felt a little confused.

What was going on?

She had done so much field reporting and had never been treated so well.

However, she was indeed a little thirsty, so she picked up the coffee and drank it.

At noon, someone a brought down a very sumptuous meal for her.

Janice looked at the spread before her and nearly burst into tears of gratitude.

She didn't expect the people in this company to be so warm-hearted.

Typically when the interviewee was unwilling to see the reporters, reporters were swiftly asked to leave the premises.

In comparison, Janice suddenly had a good impression of this company. If there was a chance to interview this person, she would definitely praise their company culture.

Janice picked up the cutlery and was about to start eating. However, she suddenly remembered Lucy, who had come with her. Shouldn't she and Lucy be together?

...

Thinking of this, she quickly made a phone call to Lucy, but there was a busy dial tone and no answer.

Maybe she was busy, so Janice decided to eat first.

But she didn't know that Lucy had already been persuaded to leave by the security guard on the grounds of being suspicious.

At this time, in the office on the 38th floor.

Christopher also had the same lunch in front of him.

"Have you sent lunch to Janice yet?"

Christopher asked Rob.

Rob replied, "Yes, it's exactly the same as yours."

Only then did Christopher nod his head in relief.

Rob didn't understand. Since Christopher didn't want to be interviewed, why didn't he just directly make up his mind? What was the meaning of this arrangement?

Was it because that person was Janice Gladwell?

In the afternoon, as Christopher finished his work, he thought of Janice, who was still waiting in the reception room. He hesitated for a moment, then got up and went down in his private elevator.

Originally, he just wanted to take a look at Janice from afar. However, when he walked to the door, he found that Janice had fallen asleep on the sofa.

She rested her head on the armrest of the sofa with one hand and her eyes were closed. Her arm was too weak to support her so she shook her head again and again, sleeping rather unsoundly.

Christopher couldn't help walking in. He was afraid of waking her up, so he treaded lightly.

He walked over and gently carried Janice to the sofa nearby. After adjusting the temperature of the reception room, he ordered Rob to find a blanket for her.

Seeing her lying there comfortably, Christopher couldn't help but smile.

She slept so soundly that she didn't wake up after such a movement.

Staring at Janice's peaceful sleeping face, he couldn't help chuckling. When he was about to turn around and leave, his arm was suddenly grabbed.

Christopher's body stiffened. Was she awake?

If she saw him, how would he explain it to her?

Christopher hesitated if he should tell her the truth. However, he saw that she had only turned over and fallen asleep. It seemed she had accidentally caught his hand.

Only then did Christopher let out a sigh of relief.

What a close call!

He didn't dare to stay any longer and quickly left.

Janice ended up napping for several hours. When she woke up, she found that she was covered with a blanket.

She couldn't help but feel confused. She remembered that she was sitting on the armchair opposite. Why did she suddenly fall asleep here? And what was with the blanket covering her?

She seemed to remember she saw the figure of Christopher.

Was she dreaming?

Janice was confused when the phone suddenly rang. It was Christopher.

She was stunned for a moment and picked it up.

"Where are you? I'll pick you up from work."

Janice took a look at the time. It turned out that it was already past six o'clock.

She rubbed her eyes. "I'm still in Techno Tower. Is it on your way?"

Christopher said, "Come to the front door."

He hung up the phone.

Janice was stunned. "He came so soon?"

She walked out of the reception room and thanked the receptionist before walking out.

Christopher's car stopped at the door. When he saw her coming out, he waved at her.

Janice walked over, opened the car door, and got in.

After she fastened her seat belt, Christopher drove the car out.

"How was your work today?"

Christopher looked at her as he drove.

Janice thought about what had happened today and found it unbelievable. However, she was confused as to why she would dream of Christopher for no reason.

Or what if it was real?

...

However, how could it be? How could Christopher be there? He wasn't from that company. It wasn't possible.

Janice thought about it for a while and found it impossible. Then she said, "It was a good day."

Seeing her relaxed expression, Christopher was relieved.

Early the next morning, Janice went to the TV station to clock in. Just as she was about to leave to continue her surveillance of Techno Tower, she met Lucy, who had just come in.

"Janice, where are you going?"

Lucy glanced at the camera she held.

Janice was confused. "Aren't we going to Techno Tower?"

Lucy was stunned. "How dare you go again today?"

"What's wrong?" Hearing Lucy's question, Janice was puzzled.

Lucy frowned. "They said they would call the police to arrest us if we showed our faces again. Aren't you afraid of being caught?"

Janice was confused. What was it about calling the police to arrest them? Weren't they fine yesterday?

She ate and drank, and even got to nap, covered with a blanket. It was all so pleasant.

Why did they suddenly want to call the police to arrest them? "Lucy, weren't they hospitable to you yesterday?" Janice asked in confusion.

Lucy's face was full of ridicule. "What kind of hospitality? Janice, you must have had heatstroke. When have field reporters like us been treated nicely? It's considered good if they don't chase us out of the building!"

Janice, on the other hand, had a look of disbelief on her face. What had happened yesterday?

She thought Lucy would receive the same treatment as her, but she didn't expect it to be like this.

So, why did those people treat her that way?

Were they playing nice as a tactic?

While she was wondering, Lucy added, "I think it's better if we don't follow it anymore. Although it's big news, time's limited and we can't afford to drag. Look, Linda has been squatting there for more than half a month, and she has nothing to

show for it. Besides, there's not much time before the end of the month. If we continue to waste time like this, we won't be able to meet the appraisal standard for this month."

Janice thought about it and agreed. After all, she had stayed there for a whole day yesterday. Although she was enjoying the delicious food and drinks, there was no mention of the interview at all. It seemed that the star had no intention of granting an interview.

If she went there again, he probably would not be so polite this time.

Thinking of this, Janice had no choice but to give up.

However, it was getting closer to the end of the month. Her quantity of news articles was not enough to merit a good appraisal. What should she do?

If she didn't pass, she would lose her bonus. That was a large sum of money, which she could do a lot of things with. Plus, she needed to support Christopher.

The more Janice thought about it, the more agitated she felt.

When she got home in the evening, she threw herself on the sofa.

Seeing how frustrated she was, Christopher walked over and asked, "What's wrong?"

Janice then sat up and said, "It's the new star who we wanted to interview. After following him for a few days, I got nothing out of it."

Hearing her depressed tone, Christopher frowned.

"Is that interview very important to you?"

Janice shook her head. "No, it's not like that. The main reason is that we haven't met the appraisal standard for this quarter. I thought of using this big news to hit the target, but I didn't expect it to fail like this."

After listening to Janice's explanation, Christopher understood.

That night, he called Rob.

"Find a way to get some news."

On the other side of the phone, Rob was puzzled. He couldn't just conjure up a news story out of nowhere.

However, it was Mr. Bateman's instruction. No matter what, he had to make it happen.
