Chapter 38: Submission or Suffering

Alessio's grip on her chin didn't loosen. If anything, it tightened—just enough to make Elena shudder, to remind her that he owned her.

She wanted to fight.

But the battle had already been lost.

"You're mine, Elena." His voice was low, dark, absolute. "There is no past, no bloodline, no secrets that change that. Do you understand?"

Her breathing was uneven, her body locked between the instinct to defy him and the knowledge that it would be pointless.

She swallowed hard. "You killed him."

Alessio's expression remained unreadable. "I did."

She hated how easily he admitted it, how effortlessly he stole away her choices, her questions—her control.

But more than that—she hated how much she wanted to let him.

Her heart was hammering against her ribs, her body betraying her even as her mind screamed at her to resist.

But he saw it.

Of course he saw it.

Alessio always saw everything.

A slow smirk tugged at his lips. "You're trembling."

Her eyes burned with frustration. "Because you—"

"Because you want to fight me," he interrupted smoothly. "But you also want to give in."

Elena's breath hitched.

"Deny it," he challenged. "Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't feel it."

She couldn't.

Because the truth was sinking into her bones, wrapping around her like chains she didn't want to escape.

Alessio's fingers slid from her chin, trailing down her throat, his touch both possessive and dangerous. "There's nothing left for you outside of me, Elena." His thumb pressed against the frantic pulse in her neck. "You know it."

Her lips parted, but no words came.

Because he was right.

Because he was everything now.

Because no matter how hard she tried to deny it, she had already chosen.

And it was too late to turn back.

Alessio's grip tightened one last time—just enough to remind her who she belonged to—before he leaned in, his breath warm against her ear.

"Say it," he murmured.

Elena's body tensed.

But she already knew the words that would leave her lips.

"…I'm yours."
