Prologue

It is the year 2014, and the serene atmosphere is filled with the joyful sounds of children at play, the cheerful chirping of birds, butterflies flitting about in search of nectar, and the comforting warmth of sunlight. People move through their daily routines, unaware that everything is on the brink of transformation.

The initial report emerged from the U.S., detailing an incident at a hospital where a man inexplicably went berserk, assaulting his friend and biting off a significant piece of flesh. Fortunately, he was restrained before he could inflict more damage. However, in a shocking turn of events, the friend who had been attacked suddenly lunged at others, gnawing on flesh like a zombie. Within moments, the entire hospital descended into chaos.

Shortly after this was reported on the news, another story emerged about giant rats emerging from the sewers and attacking people. In China, hamsters and dogs became aggressive, launching attacks on large groups of people. Bears unexpectedly invaded towns and cities in Russia, causing widespread chaos among the residents. In Africa, lions and tigers from the Sahara regions and forests appeared larger and swifter, launching sudden attacks on people.

In a single day, reports circulated globally; zoos faced even greater challenges, housing animals of every kind. The military mobilized swiftly, imposing martial law, yet the damage had already been inflicted.

Firearms proved ineffective against the thick hides of the now rabid creatures. In a single day, half of the Earth's population vanished, seemingly in an instant. Just as humanity braced for the apocalypse, individuals from every corner of the globe began to awaken powers drawn from myths and legends. A variety of powers existed: some could soar through the skies, others could transform into animals, and some had even become mutant hybrids, creating a diverse array of abilities that spanned the globe, equalizing the playing field.

Throughout the following year, the conflict between humanity and the mutants persisted until one faction ultimately gained the advantage. Humans triumphed over their adversaries, forcing them into desolate regions, which came to be known as "The Badlands." In the years that followed, the major powers of humanity emerged even more robust than before, as the apocalypse that had claimed billions of lives finally reached a halt. Technological and scientific achievements were realized, illnesses had become relics of the past, and although the world they once knew was long gone, humanity was able to evolve further and adapt, embracing the new changes.

Fast forwarding to 9 years later, the Earth has now been restabilized as it once was. Smart cities have been established within areas now termed as zones. For a while, the world was normal, but good things rarely last in this world. Thus, our main characters were recruited for a singular cause: if any threat arose that was beyond the norm, they would be tasked with putting an end to it. And so, the Taskforce was created, called "Taskforce Ouroborus."
