Chapter 2 Sebrisha Walkens

"Almost got It," I said as I was pulling out a silver stone from the place, I was mining. After the stone finally budged, I let out an exhausted breath and began examining the silver stone I was mining for. The silver stone is one of the ingrediencies I need to complete my project, I put the stone in my bag and activated my hover pack on my back and slowly descended to the lower level of the mine. My name is Sebrisha Walkens and I'm a Miner from the House of sins Mining unit, I am 12 years old, and I've been operating as a Miner for a year now. A Miner is the lowest ranking house of sins operators, and it's the easiest place to rank up from out of all the jobs. 

The House of sins is world government that operates by Dealing with most civil and political threats that goes on in the world, The more you rank up in the system the more you get paid and the more important jobs you get, but the only way to get there is start at square one, The basic time to rank up to next rank is 1-2 years, But I plan to rank up In just 9 month's and this stone Will help me do just that. 

After 3 minutes of a slow descent, I finally made it to the original level of the mine. I landed on some good and even ground, After I did that, I checked my bag on my hip to see if I had everything I came for. After I checked that I headed to the elevator down the path to make it back to my current apartment. 

I walked down the path for a minute until I made it to the elevator, The elevator was very old, and I won't be surprised if the whole thing collapses one day due to its age, The Elevator was rusted so much that it was a concern and it only had 3 buttons which were up, down, and stop. I never want to take this old thing, but I really don't have a choice unless I take the stairs which are always crowded with foolish individuals who crowd around the stairs to socialize after work. I pushed the button that sends the elevator up and the elevator began to activate, but not before it dropped a little which made me stumble backwards and then it had the audacity to boost upwards Immediately after the drop, which made fall over on my back and hit the back of my head. 

The Elevator continued to move up in high speeds for about 15 seconds then it just immediately stopped which made me fly 2 feet off the ground and land on my back again, Hate this elevator. I got up from the floor while holding me head to gain back my composer, I then made my way out of the elevator and looked up at the building's that was underground, this place is called the Subterrestrial Mine, and this place is its base which is part of the House of Sins. My living space is on the left of the main area, the main area is where all the important buildings are like the armory, head office, registration, etc. I grabbed my bag and headed to the left of the main area. 

While I was walking to my living area, I began looking around the area at were live, the apartment I live in is really a dorm room, the good thing about my situation about the dorm room is that I live alone while everyone else has to live with someone else. The reason I don't have to live with anyone else is because my last roommate touched some of my alchemy mixtures and managed to blow herself up 6 months ago. She's fine, it's just after she recovered, she moved out immediately, didn't like her anyway. 

I walked up to my building and walked to the right while looking around to avoid my neighbors, I managed to make it to my dorms door and slowly entered. I made it inside the room and turned the light on, I then took a deep breath in and a relaxed exhale, it's good to be home. The dorm room I lived in was more like an alchemy lab to me than an actual living area, doesn't mean I don't sleep here when I can, the kitchen part of my dorm holds my experiment table and all my mixing items and mixture's. I've made so many mixtures in my 9 months of staying here that my whole supply could level this entire building and could turn it into ash, I told the owner that and all he did was laugh, probably thought I was joking. 

I took my bag over to the experiment table and emptied all the Items I had in the bag, Most of the Items that I emptied out of my bags were rare stones that I need for my brilliant experiment, the experiment I'm working on will instantly have me move up to the next rank and will most likely get me famous as well in alchemy. I then began scanning the stones I collected, making sure they were all what I was looking for and in tip top condition for the experiment. I scanned them one by one for 2 minutes and was almost done with them until someone rang my doorbell to my dorm room. Now I only need one last important item which is the most important, I walked away from the table and made my way to the cabinet next to the bed. I made it to the cabinet, opened the bottom drawer and pulled out a sort of phone. 

"Oh my god, right when I was almost finished," I said while putting the scanner down then making way to the door. I opened the door to my dorm room and instantly felt annoyed, Because the person who was at my door was Karen, My Manager. Karen Had blonde hair, white skin, okay facial features, and was wearing a professional business suit along with business. She's a nice person and she's helpful when I ask her for info and other things like that, But the reason I find her annoying is because she's too touchy for me. 

"Lonlee how are you doing today," Karen said as reached out and gave me a hug. I let out a sigh and returned the hug, I didn't like the name she game 

The phone I picked up wasn't even really a phone, the thing was more like a long-ranged scanner that scans items you bring in front of it, thanks to thus thing I was always able to confirm if the items were the right ones or not. It also comes with an add on of a phone, tracker, distress beacons, and beacon tracker. My mother gave this thing to me before I pursued my goal as a house Sins member, I miss my mother, she's one of very few people I care about in the world. 

I began to walk back over to the experiment table to scan the items to see if I had everything correct but stopped midway to look at myself in a mirror on the wall, I spent a full minute examining if I was still perfect and without a single wound on my body. 

I had beautiful and smooth white skin, along with ageless blonde hair, and a perfect fit for someone who's only 12 years old, not too big and not to slim just perfect. I would talk about my face, but it's covered up with my owl mask, but as far as I'm concerned, the mask may as well be my real face due to me barely ever taking the mask off. The owl mask I wear is that of a white owl, I had the mask ever since I was 2 and for some reason, I've never liked taking the mask off at all, it felt more than a mask to me honestly. 

Very few people in the world have seen my real face, even my social records show me wearing this mask, good thing no one seemed to care. I actually made a full suit to go with my mask, the suit looked like a human like white owl, the suit was a super resistant Hazmat suit that protects the wearer from dangerous radiation and toxic chemicals, the suit isn't that very strong but I never need to worry about it permanently breaking entirely because I covered it in one of mixtures which causes it to revert back to state it was in before I wore it so it will always stay perfect. 

I stepped away from the mirror and continued walking back to the experiment table, I then began grabbing all the stones I've gathered and went to scanning them one by one. After 2 minutes of me scanning I finally confirmed every one of the stones were real and in perfect condition, I was going to begin conducting my experiment right away until someone rang my dorm rooms doorbell. 

"Oh my god, what do these people want," I complained as got away from the experiment table and walked to the door. I made it to my dorm door and opened it, I felt immediate annoyance as soon as I saw who was at my door, it was Karen, one of the head managers of the Mines. 

"Hey Lonlee, how are you doing today sweetie," Karen said with a smile as she was holding a bunch of papers in her hands. She is a 30-year-old woman with blonde hair in a professional dress uniform, I almost always see her in a dress uniform unless it's out in public. She's a nice person despite her facial features and name, but the reason she's annoying is because she's too touchy, literally. 

Ms. Karen then proceeded to open her arms and give me a big hug, I let out a sigh and returned the hug. 

"Ms. Karen, what brings you over," I asked while trying to break free from her gorilla grip hug. 

"Oh yeah, the reason I came over here," she said while finally releasing me and lifting her papers to get back to business. 

"The reason why I came here is to remind you that you need to find a partner for the promotion event in 3 days," Ms. Karen informed as she was looking at the papers in her hand. 

"I know, I've been trying to, but people don't want to be my partner for some reason," I said. 

"That's Probably because you grabbed a microphone and called everybody a bunch of nobody's who will never amount to anything because someone ate all the cookies in the lunchroom," Karen said while looking at me with her eyebrow raised. 

"Well… I'd do again to be honest," I said with a straight face. The reason I went that far is because I spotted 5 people having 5 to 10 cookies on their tray so of course I was mad. 

"Doubling down on that is why you have no friends, but I'm serous Lonlee, if you want to rank early like you want to, you're going to need a partner," Ms. Karen said. She then looked across my shoulder and saw my experiment table, she then let out a long sigh while also holding her hand on her face. 

"Please tell me you aren't still working on that experiment for the promotion ceremony," she said while holding her head. 

"I almost have it, All I need to do is put these elements in and run some more tests and it can be complete, and even if I don't complete it within 3 days, I still have other experiments I can show case instead," I said while pointing at my one of my dressers were I hold all my experiments in. Ms. Karen looked at me with a relieved look, then went back to her usual joyous look and began to take a step back. 

"Alright, as long as you got a backup plan it's all good, but you make sure you find someone to be your partner before Friday okay," MS. Karen said as she began walking away from my dorm. 

"I'll be getting on right now," I said as I closed the door as soon as she was far away. After I closed the door, I walked back over to the Experiment table and grabbed my scanner, put it into phone mode, and began calling coworkers from my mining group to see if anyone was free. 

2 Hours Later 

"How does no one want to partner up with," I yelled at the sky while throwing my scanner/phone across the room and managing to hit the wall. Literally Everyone who I work with said no, even the Emo Kids who don't even have friends said, I even told them one of my experiments that can get us promoted {not the project I'm currently working on}, And they still didn't work with me. I got up from my bed that I was laying down in while I was making my way to retrieve my scanning. 

"You know what let's see if I can pay someone to be my partner," I said to myself as I picked up my scanner. I picked up the scanner and found out that due to the scanner hitting the wall it changed its settings from phone to beacon scanner, I was going to switch back to phone mode but a red light on the scanner grabbed my attention, I looked at the scanner closely to make sure I was seeing things correctly, the red light appeared again. I was going to switch back to phone mode since it wasn't my problem, but then an idea hit, If I go to this check point and search out its area I can gain a profit. Because if there are no people there, I will be able to collect their things and use it for my alchemy and experiments, and if they're alive, I would simply negotiate with them in being my partner for a day to enter me, And if their hostile right off the bat. 

I ran into my closet and quickly put on my full owl chemical suit and grabbed my bag full of alchemy mixtures for defense, I then grabbed my scanner, ran out the door, locked it behind, and ran full speed down the Mine's pathway to the lower floor. 

"I'll just blow them up," I said while running down the path to the Mines. 

"Blow who up," Ms. Karen yelled as she was at another worker's dorm room near where I was running.
