Chapter 62 Discovering the Warden's Crimes

Xavier and Mickey were awoken the next day, and this time they were better rested than the previous day. The guard wasn't as bold as he was the previous day, but he was wary, keeping both hands on his gun as he watched both of them keenly. Xavier chuckled at his wariness and picked up his daggers and bag off the ground beside him. Mickey did the same, picking up his shield, sword and bag, before walking out.

"At ease soldier, you don't need to be so tense." Xavier said as he walked towards the guard and he quickly raised his gun towards him.

"No sudden moves you bastard, I know you stole my magazine yesterday. And I want it back." He said and Xavier visibly panicked, but his expression went back to normal a second later.

"Where is the magazine?" The guard asked coldly, turning the guns safety on. Despite the imminent danger, Xavier only looked at the guard in confusion, wondering why he was only doing this now and why there weren't more guards here to reprimand him, after all, he had stolen from a guard. As the guard looked at him irritatedly, a large smile suddenly formed on his lips.

"You didn't tell anyone did you?" Xavier asked, and the guard gritted his teeth even more

"If you had told anyone, there would have been more of you here to beat the shit out of me, or maybe the Warden himself would come down here. I'm guessing you didn't say anything because you didn't wanna be a laughingstock among your friends or maybe you would have been reprimanded yourself." Xavier said, looking at the guard amused

"Where is my magazine asshole?" The guard said, barely containing his anger, but Xavier simply walked past him, chuckling.

"Go ahead and shoot at me if you want, but I assure you, you'd miss." Xavier said, as he walked passed him. The guard swung the gun beside him, where Xavier was, but Xavier was gone.

"I told you you'd miss." Xavier said, his voice coming from the otherside of the guard, and he quickly spun around, but Xavier was gone again.

"What the fuck?!" He said, a bit scared now, and he looked around, but he couldn't find Xavier.....or Mickey for that matter who was only a few meters away, but was now gone too. Xavier chuckled as he looked down at the terrified guard from the roof. With his high strength and agility attributes, jumping onto the roof a one story building was easy.

'I should probably go though.' He thought, as he had scene Mickey walk into an alleyway, heading towards the Orb no doubt. He patted the monster stones in his pocket, and left, leaping onto the roof of an adjacent building, then the building after that, easily arriving at the alley Mickey was in.

"Why the hell did you do that? He could have shot you, then I would have gotten into trouble for being your known associate." Mickey said, peeved

"I wanted to see if I could steal another magazine, but he had his guard up. Luckily, he hadn't said a word to the other guards to save his pride, but I can't guarantee he won't in the future." Xavier said, and Mickey sighed

"You're such a fucking idiot." He said and walked off, and Xavier followed behind. They soon made it to the Orb, but they stopped when they saw a group of guards, including the Warden, standing around it. Peeking from behind the building, he counted twenty guards besides the Warden.

'Do all of them have powers too?' He wondered, and just then, Leo turned towards them.

'Fuck.' Xavier thought and quickly hid again, praying that night vision wasn't one of their abilities.

"Leave them be, it doesn't matter. As long as they continue to deliver us monster stones that is." The Warden said, as the last of the monster stones entered the Orb. Leo shrugged as he walked up to Orb, along with three other guards, each of them having six imp monster stones in hand. They continued doing this until all of them had exchanged their own monsters stones, and then they left.

"What were they doing? They clearly didn't buy anything." Mickey asked in a low voice

"They were obviously trading the monster stones for points." Xavier said, but Mickey frowned

"But, that doesn't make much sense. The government is greedy and they would want to strip this place of as much resources as possible. They wouldn't allow anyone, not even the guards, to use the monster stones, which is the most precious thing we found in this place so far." Mickey said

"Well, the government isn't exactly here now are they. And we're all stuck here, in a place where we can gain supernatural abilities by exchanging monster stones. Something that those assholes don't even have to fight for themselves. So tell me, with an opportunity like that, what would you do?" Xavier asked and Mickey didn't have to think too hard about the answer.

"I have to respect him though, the guy's got ambition." Xavier said
