Chapter 6: The Voice in the Dark

The voice slithered through her skull like oil.

Kavy froze.

Her breath caught, her heart hammering against her ribs.

The bathroom was silent. No footsteps. No movement.

But the voice…

It was inside her.

A low, dark chuckle echoed through her mind.

"I've been waiting."

Kavy's knees buckled. She grabbed the sink for balance, her nails scraping against the porcelain.

No. No, no, no.

She squeezed her eyes shut, pressing her hands against her temples as if she could force it out.

Her voice trembled. "Get out of my head."

Another chuckle. Richer. Closer.

"Oh, Kavy…"

The way it said her name sent a violent shiver through her bones.

It sounded hungry.

Like it knew her.

Like it had been there all along.

Kavy shook her head frantically. This wasn't real. It couldn't be real.

She wasn't insane.

…Was she?

A flicker in the mirror.

Her stomach dropped.

For a split second—she wasn't alone.

A shadow stood behind her. Tall. Twisted. Wrong.

And then—gone.

Kavy whirled around.

Nothing.

But she felt it.

A presence. Watching. Waiting. Smiling.

Her breath hitched.

The voice sighed, almost… fondly.

"You can't run from me, little one."

Her throat closed.

Her hands shook.

Because deep down—she knew.

She hadn't imagined it.

She wasn't crazy.

Something was inside her.

And it was never leaving.
