I nodded, but my eyes fell on a short red and black-designed dress fixed on a dummy.
It is very beautiful. My eyes roamed the design of the dress. It is like a check material with rose flowers on the sides.
"You like this?" The other girl asked, walking towards the dress.
"It is lovely," I said, still staring at the dress.
"I have an idea." The first girl said. "Why don't you put it on and show your boyfriend how gorgeous you look in it?" she asked, smiling.
My heart raced.
"Yes, great idea," the other girl supported.
"He is uh....he is not my boyfriend." I stuttered shyly.
"Oh," she said, sharing a look with the other girl.
"Sorry about that. But still, I think you should try it on." She said, taking the dress off the dummy and walked towards me.
She handed it to me with a smile. I took it from her and gave her a little smile as I stared at the dress.
"The changing room is this way," the other girl said, gesturing at the place.
I followed her directions and walked into the changing room.
I let out a sigh as I stripped off the clothes I was wearing and then put on the new dress.
I fixed it properly and stared at myself in the mirror.
It is a perfect fit.
It stood above my knees and gave me a very good fitting.
I smiled at the way I looked.
"Why don't you put it on and show your boyfriend how gorgeous you look in it?"
My cheeks heated up as what she said sang in my head.
She really thinks he is my boyfriend.
He is someone's husband. And he is twice my age.
He is not my boyfriend.
He can't be my boyfriend.
My heart reacted to my thoughts. I let out a breath as I turned to the side to check myself out in the mirror.
This is perfect.
I picked up the previous clothes I was wearing and walked out of the room.
The girls gasped the minute they saw me.
"This is perfect," one of the girls said.
"You look gorgeous, ma'am." The other girl complimented.
"Thank you," I said, smiling.
"Well, that is all, right?" The first girl asked, clasping her hands together.
I nodded.
"Awesome. Let's go," she said, walking ahead. The other girl followed with my things in a cart.
I followed them behind, feeling my heart racing as I thought about going back to the Don.
The girl took my things to the counter and the other girl took me to where the Don was.
I saw him seated on a white sofa with his legs crossed, and he had a magazine on his leg. He flipped the pages little by little while staring at them.
My heart increased its pace as I got closer to him.
"Sir, we are done," the girl said, making him look at us.
His eyes moved to me.
My entire body automatically felt weird as I watched his eyes roam my dress and then moved back to my eyes.
"Is that the only dress you took?" He asked.
I furrowed my brows slightly.
"Oh, no, sir, everything is at the counter." The girl answered.
He covered the magazine and placed it beside him as he got on his feet, killing me with his tall glory as he reached behind his back pocket, showcasing his yummy chest with that ancient-looking necklace on his neck. He took out his credit card and handed it to the girl.
"Thank you, sir," she said and walked away, leaving me alone with him.
I lowered my gaze, feeling his gaze on me. My heart raced faster as a lot moved in my head.
I think he likes my dress. I mean, I can feel him looking at me.
Can't he compliment it?
That's not bad, is it?
Just a harmless compliment.
He didn't say a word.
I heaved a little sigh as I looked towards the girls.
Not long later, the girl and two other girls walked towards us with my bags of things.
"Thank you, sir." The girl said, handing back his credit to him.
He took it from her and headed out. The girls and I followed him behind. We got towards the car and the girls placed the bags in the backseat for me.
I thanked them before entering the car. I fixed my seatbelt as he started the car.
We hit the road.
The ride was silent and peaceful, but my head was being sabotaged by the intention of thanking him for funding my shopping.
It is not a big deal. Besides, people love to be appreciated. And I don't want him to see me as an ungrateful brat. He already sees me as a spy so....
Just do it, Evelyn.
I glanced at him.
My heart pounded.
I looked at him again. He is focused on the road.
Just say it. Go ahead.
"Um....thank....thank you for..." God, what is wrong with you, Evelyn? Can't you speak?!
"Thank you for funding my shopping," I managed to speak properly.
"That's for Mario. No need to thank me." He said coldly without looking at me.
I felt a tiny stink in my heart as I moved my gaze to the mirror.
A simple 'you are welcome' will not kill you. I said internally, letting out a sigh afterward.
My heart still hurts because of his coldness.
Why does it even bother me?
Not like he is my boyfriend or anything.
I should stop already.
I can't wait to get back and go into my room. Maybe wait for Mario to come back.
Now I wish he was the one that took me shopping and not his grumpy dad.
A few minutes went by, and we drove into the building.
We stopped in front of the house and I didn't wait but undid my seatbelt and got out of the car.
I moved towards the backseat and opened the door. Some maids approached me, taking me off guard.
"Allow us, ma'am." One of them said, and they all moved to take out my bags for me.
I looked behind me and I saw the Don walking into the house. He didn't even spare me a look.
I averted my eyes from him and closed the door after the last maid took out the remaining bag. They all headed inside and I followed them behind.
I got to the living room and I saw Candela standing there with her two hands folded, and she was looking at the Don who was seated on the sofa in a relaxed and nonchalant posture.
Her unpleasant eyes moved me, making me uneasy. I averted my eyes from her as I headed for the stairs.
I walked up the stairs, but my curious eyes moved back to them.
She is still standing in the same spot, looking at him.
I think she is about to query him or something. He, on the other hand, doesn't look bothered.
Not one bit.
It makes me wonder the type of relationship they have.
I withdrew my eyes from them as I got to the hallway. I headed towards my room and opened the door for the maids to go in. They did and placed my bags on the bed.
"Thank you," I said to them.
They gave me a slight bow and headed out of my room. I closed the door and locked it.
I let out a breath as I walked towards the bed.
I took off my footwear and sat on the bed. I stared at my things as my thoughts moved to the Don.
I don't understand him.
He is almost mysterious.
He called me a spy but still took me to the mall to get things for me.
Why? Is it because of his son?
I sucked my teeth and got up on my feet.
Stop thinking about him already.
Forget him.
I picked up a bag and turned it upside down and my skincare products fell out.
I smiled slightly at the few things.
I used to have things like this back at home. I usually have them in large quantities.
But this is fair enough. Actually, this is perfect.
I will have to give my appreciation to Mario. He is really a good person.
Oh well, I guess I should unpack all my new stuff. I picked up my body lotion, face cream, body spray and perfume and walked towards the desk mirror stand. I arranged them there.
I spent time arranging all my new things, putting them in the right places. I began arranging my room, my bed and walked towards the curtains and opened them wider to get more brightness in my room.
I smiled a little at the sight of the city through the windows. It is a very nice view.
I think after this, I will get some sleep and wait till....
A knock on my door got my attention.
I looked at the door with furrowed brows.
Could that be the maid?
The knock came again, this time it sounded impatient. Who could that be?
I walked towards the door and opened it.
It was Candela.
My heart sank.
