Chapter 37: Enough Fun

"They're here," Lin Mo said softly, his gaze fixed on the six people walking towards them.

Kitagawa Hiro also maintained a serious expression, staying a step behind Lin Mo, doing his best to minimize his presence, but ready to step forward and shield Lin Mo if needed.

As they drew closer, Lin Mo began to feel an intense sense of danger.

This was the kind of intuition that came after reaching a 10 in reaction attributes—more like an instinct within his body had been awakened, warning him that these six people were extremely dangerous.

The first person he recognized was the hacker he had spoken with before.

—Sasha Yakovleva.

He had barely seen her face during their holographic call, but now that he could, she certainly didn't disappoint his expectations.

Her black, short hair, still short of reaching her shoulders, was messy but well-kept, and her bright blue eyes, like the sky, held orange-red pupils. Her lips were a peachy pink, and two distinct lines from her cybernetic implants ran down the sides of her face. Small heat dissipation vents, resembling cat whiskers, were visible near her nose.

This was a woman as graceful and dangerous as a wildcat, her black bodysuit accentuating her alluring curves, and a pink and white shawl jacket covering her pale collarbones.

The six of them walked closer, the burly man at the front beaming a smile, signaling that they meant no harm.

Lin Mo took a few steps forward and smiled back.

"I remember saying this morning that we would meet again someday. I just didn't expect it to be tonight."

Lin Mo hung his katana at his waist, took out a bandage, and wiped his hands before elegantly bowing and extending his hand:

"It's a pleasure to meet you, beautiful lady, and all of you brave edge-runners."

"Tonight will be a wonderful night, but unfortunately, we shouldn't meet under these circumstances." Lin Mo seemed to express some regret as he glanced silently at the hellish scene before them, the alley filled with corpses.

Maine, watching from the side, couldn't help but feel puzzled upon hearing this, leaning closer to the burly, blonde woman beside him and whispering in her ear:

"Doliu, what does he mean by 'brave gentlemen'?"

"It sounds like an ancient phrase from China, probably something like cyberpunk, or maybe edge-runners or something." Doliu responded with a bit of uncertainty, her hand resting on her chin.

Sasha smiled, covering her mouth lightly, and extended her hand towards Lin Mo:

"I didn't expect to meet you tonight, little mercenary."

"Cough, cough, my name is Lin Mo." Lin Mo said, slightly embarrassed.

To be honest, even though he looked young, his true mental age was far older than anyone else present.

Having been mistaken for a child for so long, Lin Mo occasionally entertained the idea of getting cosmetic surgery, finding a reliable body modification doctor, or even a professional surgeon to make him look older.

But then he thought about it. His current appearance was a perfect disguise. Being underestimated as a child was far better than being viewed as a threat by enemies. So, he discarded the idea of changing his appearance.

Plus, if his sister ever found out about his cosmetic surgery thoughts, she'd never let him live it down.

"Lin Mo? Not bad, it's a nice name. I'm Sasha. We should have met at noon today. I guess I shouldn't have hidden my face during the call. Didn't expect we'd meet tonight." Sasha said with a smile in her eyes.

At that moment, a girl with twin tails walked over, smiling and looking up at Lin Mo. One hand was resting on the back of her head, and the other hand extended toward him:

"I'm Rebecca. Nice to meet you. I wonder if my idiot older brother caused you any trouble? If so, let me know, and I'll give him a couple of kicks."

Lin Mo looked down, staring at the girl, who was noticeably shorter than him.

Wow, finally, someone who looks younger than me!

Her pale green hair was tied into two twin tails that hung down to her shoulders. Her skin was excessively pale, and there were a few thin cybernetic lines near her eyes. Her face was round and cute, and she had a delicate, pretty look.

Around her neck, there was a bright red abstract tattoo, and on the right side of her thigh, a tattoo looked like a leg band, but upon closer inspection, Lin Mo saw it was a string of English letters—"PK DICK."

At that moment, she stared at him with her red and yellow-colored cybernetic eyes, and the corners of her lips curled into a cocky smile.

The night wind was chilly, but she still only wore a black oversized jacket that covered her waist and hips. What surprised Lin Mo even more was that underneath her jacket, she wore just a simple two-piece set.

Lin Mo smiled and extended his hand to shake hers: "Hello, little sister."

Rebecca's face immediately turned cold. She looked at Lin Mo with an unfriendly gaze, her red and yellow cybernetic eyes full of disdain.

Seeing her expression change so quickly, Lin Mo immediately realized his mistake. He knew exactly what had gone wrong.

But Rebecca just stared at him for a while before finally relaxing, letting out a deep sigh, and speaking in a low, resigned voice:

"Fine. I won't hold it against you, since you did save my idiot older brother."

With that, she turned to the side, glancing at Lin Mo with a teasing smirk: "By the way, I'm already of legal age, little brother."

Lin Mo's face twitched...

Well, if Cyberpunk 2077 had truly become a reality, Lin Mo never imagined there would be a loli-sized girl in an edge-runner team.

But it wasn't so bad. If they saw each other often, it would certainly be a pleasant sight.

Maine laughed heartily, walking over with a friendly expression and slapping Lin Mo on the shoulder.

"Lin Mo, right? First off, we really appreciate you lending a hand and helping Pirra and Falco get away safely. We were planning to come help you, but now it seems we might not be needed."

His palm was unusually large, and with his cybernetic enhancements, it seemed like he could easily crush Lin Mo's skull.

This was a terrifying man, towering over two meters tall, with a sturdy face and wearing sunglasses. His head, dwarfed by his gorilla-like body, gave him the comical appearance of a "little-headed" giant.

He wore only a coat, which exposed his broad chest. Though covered by synthetic skin, his body showed clear signs of cybernetic enhancements.

Before Lin Mo could respond, Falco, standing nearby, nodded elegantly, like a middle-aged gentleman, and thanked Lin Mo:

"Thanks, kid. Next time, we can go grab a drink."

Pirra also grinned lecherously, his punk hairstyle swaying in the wind, his metallic, extended cybernetic arms wriggling like snakes:

"Yeah, kid, let's go to Lizzie's Bar next time. With that face of yours, plenty of women are bound to like you."

Before he could finish his sentence, Rebecca kicked him, cutting him off with a loud yell.

What a... fun group, Lin Mo thought.
