CHAPTER 17: THE WORLD BLEEDS CODE

> [TRUE RESET – ERA REWRITE PROTOCOL] ACTIVATED

Soul Fragments Consumed: 999,999,999

Reality Core Stability: 13%

System Status: COLLAPSING…

The moment Kaien hit confirm, the world screamed.

Not figuratively. Literally.

Sirens wailed across the city, but they weren't human-made. They came from the sky—echoes from the code that stitched reality together, wailing as it unraveled.

Up above, the moon flickered like a corrupted file.

Down below, shadows stretched where light once stood.

Glass didn't just shatter—it reversed, flew upward, and then shattered again in slow motion.

Kaien stood in the center of it all, surrounded by a sphere of burning data.

People began levitating.

Others just froze—eyes wide, mid-step, caught in a glitch-loop.

Even time didn't know what to do.

Solis screamed through the comms: "KA—! THE WORLD'S CRACKING! YOU'VE GOT TO STOP IT!"

Kaien whispered, "This is how we find the truth."

He walked through the chaos like a god made of static.

But then—

> [WARNING: SYSTEM ERROR – ENTITY "VOIDHEART" HAS BREACHED BALANCE]

[COUNTERMEASURE INITIATED: SUMMONING "THE RECLAMATION PROTOCOL"]

Thunder cracked.

A golden rift opened in the sky.

And it stepped through.

Ten feet tall. Armor made of melted time. Wings made of broken clock hands. Its voice sounded like ten thousand people screaming in unison.

"Kaien Vale. Creator. Destroyer. Defector."

The Reclamation Protocol held out its hand.

"Your sins demand correction."

Kaien grinned. "Good luck with that."

He opened the store again.

[Store Item Acquired: DEADMAN'S ENGINE – Consume All for 30 Seconds of Absolute Power]

> Warning: Use = Total body collapse

Use anyway? Y/N

"Let's dance."

He clicked Y.

Kaien's body erupted into black flame. Not fire—compressed rage. His arms tore with runes, his heartbeat became a war drum, and he teleported mid-swing.

Steel met divine code.

The clash split the sky.

And right then, as time shattered above them, a figure stepped from the corner of space—someone watching everything.

She wore a cloak of mirrors.

And whispered only two words:

> "He's not alone."
