Lore : Pt 1

Author's Note: I am so far behind on everything... So sorry for the delay! That took longer than I thought it would. Also, I don't have a proofreader, and I have to edit and rewrite everything myself, which takes a really long time, and mistakes will be made, both in formatting, grammar and (less so) spelling. Sorry about that! The next three chapters will be released soon, and I'll have a roadmap for the next few months at the bottom. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: This story contains profanity, violence, bloodshed, death and many modern world issues. These harsh and complex topics are covered in a fictional sense. This story contains only original characters. Any resemblance to any real person, alive or deceased is a coincidence.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Weapons:

-FLN P246: Commissioned in 2170 for security and self defence use, the FLN P246 was designed by STW (Sulminte Technological Weaponry) as a cheap but resilient hammer-fired sidearm placing emphasis on accuracy and stopping power rather than penetration. Chambered in 9mm Zauricht and used by SOIA agents in Zauricht, the P246 is the first STW firearm not chambered in a Sulminte manufactured round, due to the convenience and reliability of these rounds. Affectionately known as the two-four-sixty, the P246 went on to have a long career in Sulminte border security forces and then Sulminte Immigration Bureau (SIB). The P246b is the civilian variant of the P246, chambered in Sulminte 9x19 (covered later), all of which are manufactured by STW. (Notes: I based this pistol off of the Sig Sauer P226, but I also realised that the P320 exists, so then this sorta became a mishmash of both.)

-SOIA (Sulminte Observation and Intelligence Agency): The SOIA is still an organisation shrouded in secrecy, but it is deeply rooted within the Sulminte border security forces. Gathering intelligence on Zaurichtian assets and conducting espionage in Zauricht, the SOIA is Sulminte's only known intelligence and espionage agency. (Notes: CIA! CIA! CIA!)

-9mm Zauricht: A small diameter 9x12mm round made for the Zauricht police force (ZPF) to replace the smaller, less powerful 8mm Zauricht. The 9mm Zauricht, or 9 mil-Z, is a centerfire, hollow point bullet designed to stop enemies with minimal rounds fired and with as little collateral damage as possible. It is a cheap, resilient round used by most Zaurichtian security units, with the P246. Manufactured in Zauricht by ZMEM Industries. (Notes: Inspired by the 9x19 Parabellum. Yes I made up lore for bullets. I have no life.)

-ECR-16: Chambered in 7.62 Arlont, the ECR-16 is considered to be one of the reliable battle rifles ever used by Zauricht. The ECR-16 uses a box magazine that sits on top and parallel of the barrel to reduce the size of the rifle, with a unique feed system that allows the bullet to enter the chamber correctly. The hollow, collapsible stock allows the shooter to quickly adjust the length for comfort and stability, while not using a folding stock that takes longer to deploy (the stock can contain a cleaning kit, accessible by opening a hatch on the buttplate). The ECR-16 has an ergonomic foregrip that can fold out to become a commando grip, again reducing the weapon profile and increasing maneuverability in tight spaces. Four picatinny rails allow for various attachments and optics, while the integrally suppressed barrel increases stealth and accuracy. Made by Gertrand Inc. (Notes: Actually, the gun looks like the Halo BR-55, with the magazine located below the scope rail and above the barrel. Functions sorta like a P90.)

-ECR-16s: The compact civilian variant of the ECR-16. Chambered in 7.62 Arlont, the ECR-16s lacks the under barrel picatinny rail and has a solid collapsible stock, rather than a hollow one. The built in flashlight was removed and the space hollowed out to decrease weight, and the magazine capacity has been reduced to 20 rounds. Made by Gertrand Inc. (Notes: Basically a 7.62mm P90. Don't mess with the person holding this thing.)

-7.62 Arlont: Based off of the 7.62 Kelber, the 7.62 Arlont is a heavier round designed for use by ZPF snipers. Originally ordered to supplement the older, larger 308. Packard, the 7.62mm bullet was used as a long range round, but the R&D division at Gertrand Inc decided to take advantage of the 7.62mm's improved stopping power and better accuracy as a larger alternative for assault rifles. Manufactured in Zauricht by ZMEM Industries (Zauricht Metals and Electronic Machinery). (Notes: Bullet lore. What else should I say?)

-ECW-8a: Designed for the ZPF, the ECW-8a was supposed to serve as a reinforcement weapon for police officers, providing more firepower without compromising weight and handling. The factory model comes with a folding stock and integrated laser, along with a 35 round box magazine and four picatinny rails on both sides, the top and bottom. Chambered in 9mm Zauricht, the ECW-8a has become a favorite of law enforcement and military alike. Made by ZMEM Industries. (Notes: Based off of the UMP SMG, made by H&K.)

-CDRF Turrets: The general term for a turret that integrates its own battle computer with detection monitors, such as pulsar, radar, thermal imaging, etc. Generally, the main weapon is a fast firing auto cannon, but some Langley vessels use rapid fire rocket pods. CDRF stands for Close Defence Rapid Fire. (Notes: This is supposed to be a Phalanx CWIS. I actually saw some sci-fi videos detailing space warships armed with CWIS guns and missiles rather than railguns and lasers, so I decided to add this to 366 as the concept made a lot of sense. Being able to put out a ton of medium damage shells versus one single high damage shell with a really long reload makes a lot more sense.)

-Pressure Cap Explosive (PCE): In 0g, standard explosives are not that effective, due to space nullifying the effects of the oxygen based detonation. As such, concentrated explosives gained popularity for military and law enforcement use. Concentrated explosives direct the resulting pressure wave towards a single point, which allows for the same destruction without the risk of injuring the people around it. There are two common types of concentrated explosives. Pressure cap explosives, which use a metal pressure cap on a small plastic or glass vial filled with explosives to redirect the explosive force towards a specific direction, generally towards the target. This allows operators to stand behind the explosives without the risk of being affected by the blast, but this is unsafe and not recommended. The second type is ACE, or Area Containment Explosives, which uses a large explosive placed in the center of a ballistic mesh (covered later) umbrella to redirect the pressure wave over a large area. ACE is generally used as a secondary breaching explosive or as a mine of sorts. (Notes: Based off of current explosives disposal methods. Covering an explosive with a ton of stuff to redirect the pressure wave so as to not injure people, but for this, it's to injure people more. Do I know what I'm doing? Absolutely not!)

-ABR-12b Assault Carbine: A carbine designed for spec ops use by the LAF, the ABR-12b is a compact yet accurate weapon, chambered in 5.45mm Kurz. Made from mold-injection plastic and pressure-molded titanium, the ABR-12b is a resilient rifle designed for use in high radiation and pressure environments like space. The ABR-12 uses a horizontally mounted box magazine fitted to the bottom of the rifle, which also functions as a foregrip, to keep the weapon compact and streamlined. The ABR-12b is designed to be extremely modular, with each part of the rifle being easily exchanged with a counterpart designed for different rounds or for a different purpose. The ABR-12b lacks a lower attachment rail, removing the possibility for a grenade launcher or bipod. Originally manufactured with a built-in flashlight, LAF special forces have replaced this with a laser to assist with shooting and accuracy. (Notes: Imagine a PP-19 Bizon, with the magazine slanted downwards towards you. That's the ABR-12b.)

-5.45mm Kurz: A streamlined 5.45mm bullet designed for use in space and low pressure environments. Originally designed to supplement the older, standard 5.56 ammunition used by the USNCCF, the 5.45mm Kurz is smaller and thinner, allowing the round to penetrate thicker space suits and softer materials. Containing more propellant than a normal bullet, the 5.45mm Kurz has better range and accuracy when compared to larger rounds. Also comes in hollow point, armor piercing and pressure explosive, the 5.45mm Kurz is a round designed to give users multiple options in a single weapon. (Notes: Name-wise, taken from the German 7.62mm Kurz rounds, used by the STG44, but making it 5.45mm. It's kinda fun to write my own rules about space combat!)

-Langley S4b: A semi-automatic combat shotgun designed for use in space, the S4b is considered to be one of the premium shotguns designed and manufactured by Langley. The thicker barrel allows for the more powerful rounds needed for use in space, and the experimental gas vents forged into the barrel circumvents the extreme recoil produced by the 12 Gauge SR rounds. An experimental folding stock that has four internal recoil buffers and pads reduces recoil ever more, and rear facing gas vents located on the bottom of the barrel prevent the shotgun from jumping after each shot is fired. Comes with a built in holo-sight, flip up iron sights and a matchsaver. (Notes: Benelli M4, Winchester M1897 and Spas 12 all in one, with a built in holo-sight. Heck yeah.)

-12 Gauge SR: A more powerful 12 gauge shotgun shell designed by the LAF for use in space. The 12 Gauge SR is essentially the same as a regular shotgun round, but the gases from the propellant travel forward via specialised vents in the shell to propel the shot pellets further and more effectively. Also known as the 12 SR, the round produces extremely strong recoil that can easily break bones and tear muscles. (Notes: To allow for more spread, you need more propellant, and that's where the 12 Gauge SR comes in. SR stands for Space Round btw.)

-Matchsaver: A single shell holster located just in front of the bolt, allowing the user to slide an extra round into the chamber when needed. (Notes: Go Google it. I got this from John Wick.)

-B-95 Fragmentation Grenade: A spherical fragmentation grenade designed specifically for close quarters combat, that utilises PCE. A small block of explosive is placed in the center and is covered by thin pressure caps, which can be moved to adjust the spread of fragmentation via a dial, which also changes fuse length. The B-95 does not have a very large fragmentation radius, but by adjusting the spread, the user can keep themselves and their allies safe. (Notes: What if there was a lethal grenade specifically designed for close quarters combat? WELCOME IN: THE B-95 FRAG GRENADE. Imagine a ball with a dial, and four circular plates that form the sphere. These plates can be adjusted to allow more or less frag, supposedly making it safer for the user.)

-PTR M2140: Designed by the LAF to and put into service in 2140, the PTR M2140 was supposed to be used by Civil Guard units, but it quickly made its way into the hands of special forces operators and pilots, who found it to be an extremely resilient and reliable pistol, packing stopping power and accuracy into a single package. A hammer-fired pistol made of pressure molded steel and plastic, the M2140 is a hardy and resilient pistol, designed to take a beating in the harsh environments of space. Coming with a standard 14 round double stack magazine, the spec ops variant has an extended mag containing 20 rounds, giving the user much more firepower than a standard 9mm pistol. Chambered in .45 SSR. (Notes: Based off of pretty much any double stack 1911 out there. In most video games, stopping power is traded for capacity and speed, but this is absolutely not true in real life. Quick firing, high capacity 45. ACP pistols exist and they are damn effective.)

- .45 SSR: A large pistol round designed for law enforcement to give sidearms more stopping power in a smaller package, pistols chambered in .45 SSR began seeing use by military assets, with soldiers and officers purchasing their own sidearms to supplement their weaker, 9mm sidearms. After official testing, the .45 SSR completely supplemented 9mm rounds in 2140. The standard .45 SSR round is a hollow point, but armor piercing and standard rounds are available as well. (Notes: Based off of the 45. ACP round! I think of it as an intermediary between 9 or 10mm rounds and .50 pistol rounds (like the ones used in the Deagle). Though this isn't true, this is essentially how it'll be throughout 366.)

-Flashbang: A stunning grenade that produces an extremely bright flash and a loud bang, disorienting any targets standing within 15 meters of the grenade. Utilises pressure cap explosives to create the bang, and a chemical to produce the flash. (Notes: This is a real thing, and the actual stats and inner workings differ, but the 366 version has a 15 meter range and is completely fictional. Go google it.)

USNC & USNCCF:

-USNC: The United Space Nations Council was formed in 2140 as a government body meant to dissuade aggression between colonies and improve relations. The USNC was also formed to provide a more political decision making body for the USNCCF. Based on Earth, the USNC has the power to order military forces to move around and implement Executive Order(s), or EOs. (Notes: No, not the UNSC from Halo. The USNC. Get it right. Also I was pretty stupid for coming up with a name like this...)

-USNCCF: United Space Nations Council Combined Force. Under the direct command of the USNC Security Council, the USNCCF doesn't have a permanent military force, instead having the authority to combine the forces of the different Sides into Task Forces and Response Groups. Task Forces are formed to either respond to an armed conflict or uprising, or any high risk situations that involve armed conflict, while Response Groups are unarmed and unprotected. (Notes: Inspired by the UN Peacekeeping Forces, but structured and based a little differently.)

-The 1124 Arming Declaration: Executive Order 1124 (EO1124) was declared in 2142 by the USNC Security Council. This EO stated: "... as such, due to a probability of interference with life on the colonies from other entities not from this solar system or galaxy, the USNC will assist and fund all states in the implementation of a self defence force or militia." Though in good nature, EO1124 is considered to be one of the founding factors that caused the War for the Sphere, due to a lack of supervision during the arms buildup. (Notes: I dunno what else to say. Originally, I was planning to create the entire EO1124, but decided that that was very stupid idea, and I was ALREADY SO SWAMPED WITH LIFE.)

-USNC Observations and Monitoring Web: Officially known as the USNC OaMW, the Observations and Monitoring Web consists of thousands of pulsar, radar, sonar and energy sensors, designed to pick up disturbances in the Earth sphere. These sensors cover the shipping lanes and the atmosphere, along with the airspace around the Moon, allowing the USNC to monitor the Earth Sphere without using precious resources and vessels. This network is managed by the USNC Security Council and intelligence assets from Side 2 and 4. (Notes: Based off of the US SOSUS set up in the Atlantic to track Soviet submarines. Go google it!)

-Task Force Bulchide: Consisting of 4 battleships, 8 cruisers, 3 carriers, 10 destroyers and 4 frigates, Task Force Bulchide was commissioned by the USNCCF to carry USNC ERF workers to Side 7 and assist with any situation if required. Consisting of:

Carriers: Chulani, Marghava, Lestarn.

Battleships: Moria Punisher, Kanava, Earlwhit, Sulan Kin

Cruisers: Laitan Tiempo, Tarlsen, Cotmarl, Keelsans, Daelcovin

Missile Cruisers: Heetzin, Mawsonia, Cervus Max

Destroyers: Alcazar, Kanthard, Kholhard, Petzlvand, Gurlitz, Weeryakin, Stormeister, Prosaso, Semana, Ullard. (Notes: Created this task force and named the ships after playing CoD IW... Yep. My favorite is the Laitan Tiempo, or the Cervus Max.)

-Task Force Curin: Consisting of the battle carrier Leyla Curin and the missile cruiser Proteus, Task Force Curin was formed to assist TF Bulchide after the loss of the carrier Chulani and the cruiser Laitan Tiempo. Both the Curin and the Proteus were sunk after an extended engagement with LAF forces. (Notes: Idk what else to say, so I didn't change much.)

USNC ERF: The USNC Emergency Response Force, or ERF was formed by the USNC Security Council to assist Side military forces with situations and provide medical assistance. It is considered a war crime to attack and kill ERF volunteers. (Notes: Basically UNESCO, but structured a little differently.)

Science(?):

-Earth Sphere: The domain that contains the Earth and the Moon. (Notes: Basically a weird oblong shaped thing that describes the space between the earth and the moon. I took this directly from Mobile Suit Gundam. THIS IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM EARTH'S SPHERES. VERY DIFFERENT.)

-Dark Period: The period of time when a colony's orbit path goes behind the moon, hindering all communications between the USNC and the Side. (Notes: This is true. When the Apollo spacecraft went behind the moon during orbit, all communications were cut off, due to (hopefully) very obvious reasons.)

-Laser Communication: A new method of communication developed by the USNC for rapid response over long distances. A computer encodes the message into laser script, and the laser is fired into space. A satellite or buoy then intercepts and redirects the laser towards the next satellite or buoy to then be redirected to the destination. The only weakness is that it can be easily intercepted by another entity. (Notes: Took this from Gundam as well! The main strength of LaserComm is its ability to not be intercepted by enemy radios, but it can be physically intercepted. LaserComm is interpreted differently in each and every Sci-Fi, so beware! They are not the same...)

-RPI (Radio wave Pulse Imaging): Utilises a more powerful sonar to create a detailed 3D image. (Notes: Not sure if this is real... Also sonar is sound, radar is radio wave, so sorry for the confusion! I'm too late to fix this oversight... *sob*)

-Sonic Measurement Tool: Utilises hypersonic sound waves to penetrate thick surfaces to measure the depth, length, height, etc. (Notes: Again, not sure if this is real. I check google, but it doesn't say anything.)

-CBP (Collapsible Ballistics Protection) Shield: Developed right after the introduction and adoption of ballistic mesh, this collapsible shield provides ultralight and effective bulletproof protection for soldiers. The CBP uses springs to rapidly expand and motors to easily collapse for storage, along with bipod legs that fold out to turn the CBP into stationary cover. CBP Shields can absorb most low to medium caliber rounds. (Notes: A version of this exists in CoD AW, but it's made from sheets of metal with some kind of invisibility tech to allow you to see through it, but I didn't find it that realistic and viable. Hence, Ballistic Mesh.)

-Ballistic Mesh: A reinforced soft mesh not unlike kevlar, used in most modern ballistics protection equipment. Originally used as netting for external pouches and bags for space travel, it was discovered that weaving together the individual fibers rather than crossing and layering them created a much stronger, bulletproof material; one that was strong enough to absorb the impact of the more powerful rounds used in space. Rather than deflecting the rounds, ballistic mesh absorbs and dissipates the impact of the bullet, which allows it to stay soft and easily concealable. Its one weakness is its time consuming manufacturing process, even with automated manufacturing. (Notes: I have no idea how to sew or stitch or anything like that, so apologies if this is inaccurate. I designed this after watching John Wick 2, and realising that soft stuff can stop bullets. I feel stupid not knowing this.)

Keralinum: A malleable but strong metal that is used primarily as exterior material for spacecraft. Kerlinum has a very low melting point, but it can reflect UV rays and radiation to protect a spacecraft, making it a very commonly used exterior metal for non atmospheric entry vessels (more commonly known as NAE Craft). (Notes: NAE craft and Re-Entry capable (REC craft) are very different, and each has its own advantages and weaknesses. More about this later.)

Vehicles:

-SCV Lunares Celeri: (SCV stands for Side Castell Vessel) Launched in 2138, the Lunares Celeri is the fourth Bastion Class frigate commissioned by Castell. Designed for mobility and long range firepower, the Bastion class frigates form the backbone of Castell naval forces, serving as escort or bombardment vessels accompanying larger vessels. 50mm thick clay plates covered with pressure molded Keralinum provide projectile protection, a second tungsten layer provides sealing for the craft and hard protection while reinforced ballistic mesh is used as interior soft protection against shrapnel and splintering. Clay plates are used mostly on NAE craft, due to their high melting point and tendency to crumble rather than splinter. Equipped with two 5 inch AUC Railguns located in turrets mounted on port and starboard platforms connected to the maneuvering wings, a guided plasma caster mounted on the bow just fore of the bridge, and two 80mm quad barrel rotary cannons mounted on the stern providing rearwards firepower. 16 Trident ASMs are set behind the bridge, and another 16 are mounted alongside the keel. 18 CDRF (Close Defence Rapid Fire) turrets are spread around the ship providing full 360 degree protection against missiles and fighter aircraft. A small hanger containing a DSR-8e Myna is set just under and fore of the engine room, and 16 lifeboats are mounted in 16 of the 18 airlocks around the vessels. The SCV Lunares Celeri was sunk in 2152, with all hands lost. (Notes: The original is based off of a homemade lego model I have. A ton of stuff in 366 is based off of random toys and stuff I have.)

-DSR-8b Condor: A fast, streamlined two seater Direct Spotting and Recon (DSR) spacecraft used by the LAF. Inducted into LAF naval service in 2135, the Condor was used as a forward recon and bombardment coordinator craft, piloted by Naval Air Corps (NAC) pilots. LAF marines and special forces saw the value of a spotter craft, and began borrowing them from the navy as small transport and recce support craft. A radar, sonar, pulsar, IR camera, 8K camera, night vision capabilities and RPI gives the Condor acute awareness of the battlefield, and its small size and profile along with heavy armament make it a deadly and effective spotter and fighter. A top mounted CDRF turret provides close-in defence and offense while 8 internally mounted TBs-91 heat seeking missiles gives the Condor the ability to conduct long range interceptions. Four URV-2 SpotBird drones allow the Condor to conduct its primary mission without exposing the crew to significant danger, which can be used in conjunction with the Condor's onboard visuals, providing the operator with full 360 degree battlefield awareness. (Notes: Not really based on anything in particular. I was sorta thinking of the Pilatus P-6 recce aircraft mixed with an AC-130 when I designed the Condor. Firepower, optics and some dude.)

-DSR-8e Myna: The export variant of the DSR-8b Condor, the Myna is larger, containing four seats over two, with a WSO (Weapons Systems Officer), an ONO (Optics and Navigations Officer) and a pilot. The last seat is for a passenger if required, and the ONO role can be taken on by the pilot or WSO if needed. The Myna is also larger and bulkier, allowing it to be operated as a CAS (Close Air Support) craft due to its better armor and increased amount of weapons. The Myna retains the CIWS turret, but two external hardpoints were added, allowing for bombs, rocket pods or torpedoes to be mounted. The internal bay space was reduced from eight missiles to six to accommodate the 30mm forward facing internal autocannon, giving the Myna more hard firepower. (Notes: Yes, at times, the export variant is very different from the original, with differing abilities, stats, weapons, etc. The Myna is a type of bird.)

-URV-2 SpotBird: A small drone with a gimbal mounted rocket motor and 16 pressurised air thrusters mounted to fire in a 360 degree arc, giving the SpotBird exceptional maneuverability in tight spaces. A 360 degree high definition camera is mounted in a nose bubble, along with an IR and night vision camera. The SpotBird also utilises a radar, pulsar, sonar and RPI (Radio wave Pulse Imaging), and has paneled Keralinum plates to absorb pulsar waves. (Notes: This is essentially one of those sci fi, deep sea probes, but for space.)

-TBs-91 Ripper: An IR seeking missile designed for extreme maneuverability in 0g environments. The rocket motor is mounted in a gimbal and the thrusters fed from the main fuel tank, reducing the overall range of the missile. The IR seeker is still classified technology, but the Ripper is known as one of the most effective IR seeker missiles in the LAF arsenal, with a 80:1 kill ratio. (Notes: Based off of the AIM-9 Sidewinder! Thinking about it, missiles in space need thrusters to maneuver, which makes them so much bigger, because fins are essentially useless, as is spinning. This reduces the overall range and increases the overall weight. Missiles are big, and are primarily used as deterrence, rather than to kill.)

-SBUV Leyla Curin: (Side Bueland Vessel) Commissioned in 2135 and launched in 2139, the Battle Carrier Leyla Curin was one of the most advanced warships to ever sail. Officially part of the Enhanced Superiority and Battle Vessel (ESBV) Program, the Leyla Curin contained technologies from over four sides, with assistance from the USNC. It was designed as a Re-entry capable ship, with large heat shields mounted on the keel that could serve as armor if needed. The ESBV Program aimed to create a vessel that could first, Serve as a deterrence and a projection of power, second; provide point defence and offence with long ranged firepower and aircraft strike capabilities, and third; be able to conduct atmospheric re-entry if needed. The Leyla Curin did just that, with a heavy main armament and squadrons of aircraft. Two 8 inch rail guns mounted in individual turrets sat just forwards of the bridge, two 88mm auto cannons were placed on a platform just behind of the bridge, 8 BTRD ASM launches were mounted at a 45 degree angle facing port and starboard, 8 Clem-Six nuclear capable cruise missile launched were integrated into the hull just aft of the BTRD launchers, an 18 inch railgun mounted in a stern turret, 80 CDRF turrets are mounted all around the ship, with another 20 turrets and two 80mm railguns that come out of hatches in the heat shielding, providing defence in the ships main blindspot. The Curin can carry up to 50 aircraft with crew, normally subdivided into three squadrons with 14 aircraft each. 68 lifeboats are scattered around the vessel, with two placed in each airlock. The Curin was first deployed on patrol and deterrence with the 4th Coastal Defence Fleet, before conducting a long range exploratory mission to Mars. The Curin was then transferred to the 8th Battlegroup, as the flagship, tasked with projection and deterrence mission. During her time with the 8th Battlegroup, she conducted several exercises and was able to showcase the capability and flexibility of a battle carrier. Shortly after her transfer to USNCCF command, she was placed into Task Force Curin, and was subsequently sunk with all hands. (Notes: Again, based off of a lego model I have. I decided not to include all of the vessels mentioned, as that would take too much time, and I am VERY behind on my writing.)

Note: Bueland, Belstania and Belroy have very similar names, but differing ship prefixes. Belroy uses SBRV, Bueland; SBUV and Belstania; SBSV.
