For a thousand years, the Church of Marialism reigned over Arkanthaal. Magic, known as Makra, was declared a gift from "the Voice". All livings belonged to the Church, and obedience was sacred law. Kings ruled, nobles schemed, peasants worked—only because the Church allowed it.
But absolute faith brings in corruption.
When the 99th Supreme Pope vanished without a successor, chaos erupted. A village uprising spiraled into revolution, led by two men who defied the Church’s tyranny. Thus began the Second Holy War—and ended with the rise of a new power:
The Eternal Empire.
From the ashes of the old world came a new order—fierce, swift, and seemingly incorruptible. But over time, the Empire too began to fracture. Its once-idealistic nobles became just as power-hungry and tyrant as those they replaced. Expansion halted. The Church, bloodied and scattered, saw in this pause not defeat—but a chance to reclaim its place.
