Chapter 10

"Love me? You've just realized your dream girl isn't what you imagined, and I've become your last resort. Should I give you another chance? Another opportunity to hurt me? Do I look that stupid to you?"

Xavion took a step forward, trying to grab my arm, and said urgently, "That's not it, Delia. I love you. You don't have any family left. Let me take care of you, okay?"

Hearing this, a sudden surge of anger welled up inside me. I slapped him hard across the face.

"Your professions of love are just a way to manipulate me with my own scars, aren't they?"

My eyes began to burn, and just as the tears were about to spill over, I was pulled into a warm embrace.

It was Garrison. My tears soaked into the scarf on his chest. Garrison's voice came muffled from above my head, "Mr. Stratton, Delia has made it clear she doesn't want any further contact with you. I suggest you show some self-respect. This is a warning."
