Chapter 1

Today marks my 32nd trip to the courthouse, and Ethan still hasn't shown up.

"Aurora, are you that desperate to leave me?" His voice crackles through the phone, angry and irritated.

I nod gently, "You've already got a second child out there. If we don't split up soon, I'll be crushed under the weight of your infidelity."

Ten minutes later, Ethan appears at the courthouse.

"Aurora, you'll stop at nothing to get this divorce, will you?"

I look at him, forcing a smile, "I'm really dying here."

Hearing my words, Ethan froze for a moment, then a hint of mockery flashed in his eyes.

"Aurora, you don't need to curse yourself like this just to get a divorce!"

"Isn't it just separating? I'll grant you that!"

"Just don't regret it!"

With that, Ethan walked straight to the courthouse service window.

Watching his back, my heart felt both sour and bitter.

I never cursed myself.

I'm really dying soon.

Late-stage lung cancer, less than a month left.

But... that's no longer Ethan's concern.

Without hesitation, I signed my name on the divorce agreement.

When the steel seal stamped the divorce certificate, the stone hanging in my heart finally disappeared.

Five years.

From discovering Ethan's affair to today, I've come to this courthouse exactly thirty-two times, and finally my wish has come true.

I smiled contentedly, carefully tucking the divorce certificate into my bag.

"Are you that happy to leave me?"

Ethan's face turned somewhat ugly.

"Huh?" I looked at Ethan, who hadn't left yet, confusion flashing in my eyes. "Why haven't you gone?"

"Doesn't your five-month pregnant wife need someone to take care of her?"Ethan's face turned red, his fists clenching involuntarily.

"Do you really have to be so sarcastic?" he asked.

"Zoran, we were... we were so in love back then."

As Ethan spoke, he seemed to deflate, his expression becoming incredibly sad.

Yeah.

He wasn't wrong.

We used to be the model couple that everyone on campus envied.

After marriage, we were even seen as the perfect pair in everyone's eyes.

But Ethan cheated.

The first time I saw that woman was at one of Ethan's villas.

She invited me in for tea, acting like the lady of the house.

Seeing her heavily pregnant belly, I fled in panic.

I hid in a hotel for ten whole days.

When Ethan found me, he looked as haggard as a homeless person.

He held me tight, constantly begging for my forgiveness.

He said he was drunk and mistook that woman for me, and the child was the result of that unfortunate accident.

If I didn't like it, he said he could make her get rid of the baby immediately.

That was the first time I brought up divorce.

Ethan was furious, smashing everything he could in the hotel room.

But later, he gradually became numb to it all.Every time, he found various excuses not to come to the courthouse.

As for that woman, he openly kept her in his mansion, and they even had a second child.

I looked up at Ethan, took a deep breath, and said slowly, "It's all in the past now. There's no going back."

After saying that, I turned and walked towards the steps.

"Stop!"

Ethan grabbed my arm.

His grip was strong, and I couldn't help but frown, "Is there anything else?"

"You......" Ethan hesitated.

After a few seconds of silence, he finally mustered up the courage to say, "Darling, do you hate me?"

I was stunned.

Hate?

Perhaps I did hate him once.

But now, I felt nothing at all.

I shook my head gently.

Seeing this, Ethan sneered, "Lorne was right after all. You never loved me. You only married me for my money!"

Ethan's words felt like a sledgehammer slamming into my chest, making it hard for me to breathe.

"You......"
