The evening I dreaded the most finally came. I took a deep breath and looked at Mom while she helped me pack a few of my personal things which consisted of a couple of clothes and toiletries.
Watching her made tears cloud my eyes.
I told her I have a sudden and unexpected out of town business trip and I have to leave tonight. She instantly believed me without asking further questions. She even helped me prepare what I will need for my so-called trip despite me telling her I could do it on my own. So here she is helping me prepare my things for an out of town business trip that doesn't even exist
I hated lying to her but it's the only way I could leave the house without making her and the rest of my family suspicious.
“I'm done.” Mom said, looking at me with a satisfied smile on her lips. “Are you sure you haven't forgotten to bring anything with you?” She asked. The smile on her face was replaced with worry.
