LEON'S POV
I called on the wolf doctor and he arrived as soon as he can. Tensed, I waited for him to speak as I was only scared as every minute passed by. Irene lay unconscious, her face pale, her breathing shallow. I clenched my fists, trying to maintain some control over the storm of emotions within me.
Finally, the doctor, looked up from her side, his expression grave.
"Alpha Leon," he uttered, heaving a sigh. "Luna Irene's condition is more precarious than we thought."
I could feel the anger simmering beneath my skin, not at the doctor but at the situation—at my own inability to protect my woman the way I should.
"What do you mean?" I demanded, stepping closer to him. "I’ve been transferring my wolf energy to her for weeks. Why isn’t it helping?"
