LIORA'S POV;
The sun had barely started to set, casting a golden hue over the garden as I sat with Mum and Nikolai. The peaceful atmosphere was in stark contrast to the tension that lingered in the air. Mum’s worried eyes searched my face, trying to find some reassurance that I’d be okay. I knew she was struggling to understand my decisions, but I was determined to show her that I could stand on my own.
“Mum, I’ve told you already. The money in my savings will be enough, and I will be fine. I promise,” I said, forcing a smile to ease the worried lines on her face.
She frowned slightly, not entirely convinced. “Are you sure that you’re not still angry with what your dad did?” she asked softly.
