Aubrey’s pov ;
The doctor entered the room once more, his expression solemn and his demeanor cautious. He took a measured step towards my bedside, his eyes reflecting deep concern. Beside me, Sophia stood with a worried face.
“Aubrey,” the doctor began gently, “you need to stay here for a while. Your body needs time to recover.”
Tears still stained my cheeks as I shook my head vehemently. “No. I don't want to stay here. I want to go home.”
Sophia interjected, trying to reason with me. “Aubrey, please. You need to listen. The doctor knows what’s best.”
But I was firm in my decision. “I don’t want to stay. Just let me go.”
The doctor's expression hardened slightly as he looked at me. “There's something important I need to tell you, something you need to understand.”
Panic gripped me as I asked, barely able to form the words, “What is it?”
